SharpSpring is an all-inclusive cloud-based marketing automation tool that offers Customer Relationship Management, sales team automation, call tracking, help desk, and customer service support within one cohesive program.

SharpSpring is universally CMS-compatible, in addition to being CRM-agnostic, so users can keep their existing CRM, use SharpSpring’s, or install any other CRM on the market. The program’s behavior-based email feature steps away from the traditional “email blasting" and instead sends information to leads at just the right point in the buying process and notifies sales teams to act at the best times. Users can easily customize forms by re-ordering fields, creating new formats, and allowing forms to adopt the aesthetic of their unique sites. The program’s lead nurturing and scoring tool allows sales representatives to easily see which leads are heating up by tracking page visits, demographics, and engagement and helps keep leads engaged through intuitive, personalized drip campaigns.

We especially like the fully integrated call tracking feature that shows a full picture of the entire sales process, including all captured leads and whether they fill out a form or make a phone call. Incoming calls are instantly added to the CRM and marketing automation tools, such as list segmentation, drip and nurturing campaigns, and more. SharpSpring’s VisitorID feature helps identify anonymous site visitors by looking up their IP addresses. Now, users can see which businesses have visited their site, including their names, emails, and phone numbers, thereby dramatically increasing the number of viable leads per team.

Simple to learn (little to no training needed); user interface is extremely intuitive. Vendor stands behind their product and is extremely open to feedback. Migrating from our old system to SharpSpring was virtually painless. Pipeline/opportunity management is made so much easier with drag and drop functionality (moving an opportunity through the sales cycle). Great analytics of email campaigns.

No auto-save option (although they give you quite a few save buttons on certain pages, and will also warn you to save before you leave a page); reporting on custom fields is lacking.

Recommendations

Take the time to evaluate your processes before looking for a new system. You might feel pressure to go with a bigger name CRM-type system, but at the end of the day, if you really need to focus on sales and marketing (and nothing else), than you will appreciate the laser-like focus that SharpSpring has on these two functional areas. Sometimes the bigger(and more expensive programs) have more functionality than you will ever need, causing processes to get bogged down. Bigger isn't always better!

The user interface is relatively simple. It's easy to use and has a decent sales pipeline system.

Sometimes various functions don't seem to work. It's a very basic system and doesn't provide reports on everything you might need.

It is a great way to keep track of all the leads and updates on sales. You can see where and when each lead used the website and what they clicked on.

I wish it would connect with QuickBooks - Would make the information transfer over so much easier and less time consuming.

Recommendations

Make sure you know exactly how the software works and how to utilize all of its features. We did not know all the features it had for a while and were getting tired of using it as it seemed ineffective.

I don't like this product. It might be well suited for someone who is very interested in sales and there seems to be a lot different ways to use this product. But it's not something i'm interested in spending as much time as it would take to learn how use all those functions. So, good selling point for others, but not user friendly for me.

I find it kind of difficult to navigate and I it is extremely confusing figuring out how to save date entered in each tiny little section. there isn't an overall save button, so if you don't click save in each section, you lose a lot of what you've entered. there are way too many things to navigate on the site and I find difficulte to figure how to get from one service to another. Retyping in names and company names as lead's is way too much trouble. I also don't like that you send multiple emails to notify of one lead. Pop ups, every time you click to different page you have to x out of are annoying. Lead assignments are confusing. The Pipeline is confusing to navigate. This could all be because we were not trained how to use the system from the start and the company has decided to use it differently over time, but even still, this system is confusing.

Recommendations

Learn everything you can from the start. If you start using it one way, or certain portions of it, and then add uses, it will confuse you.

It is not user friendly, you have to save almost every field you fill out, going back and forth from lead to lead is very difficult.

Yes, it looks pretty and derives data, but if the data is so difficult to input, save, and go back and check out, it isn't worth it.

SharpSpring offers Small and Medium businesses all the power and benefits of a marketing automation platform without the contracts and large monthly bills that the larger industry players force their users to sign up for.

The core features; list segmentation, customer activity alerts, "life of the lead," reverse IP lookup, form builder, automation tasks and workflows, email build and deliverability all work perfectly. It even integrates with Salesforce via their API if you want to continue to use it over the built-in CRM.

The other great thing is they are continually adding new features and our very open to feature requests from their user base.

One issue I have run into is with new features. Sometimes they push them live before they work correctly. This is a tiny issue as the price doesn't change and the new features don't have an impact on any of the existing modules and uses.

Also, their customer service can be a little slow in responding to requests as they are located primarily in South Africa. This can be avoided by using an agency partner as your point of contact.

Recommendations

If you are planning on purchasing this product, look for an agency partner who can offer a discount. Not only will they provide you with a lower monthly price but they are also more likely to provide additional services to ensure you are getting the most out of you investment. Just do a Google search :)

All in all, if you are a small or medium business and want to super-charge your marketing efforts without investing several thousand dollars SharpSpring is the right choice.

Our agency can easily manage multiple clients from one dashboard. We used ACT-On and HubSpot prior to going with SharpSpring. The other two platforms are good ones, but the SharpSpring product allowed us to have more control over our clients in terms of interaction, billing, and plan design.

Landing page builder can benefit from more design features. SharpSpring recently added this feature - so its early days for it, but more design feature like resizing layouts or allowing layouts to overlap would take it to the next level.

This is great product agencies. Our agency uses SharpSring to offer our clients managed marketing services - which include marketing campaign development using SharpShpring's marketing automation platform. For our company it allows us to satisfy more of our client's needs and at the same time balances our dependence on project work for retainer based revenue.

The product help is VERY thorough, VERY extensive and is frequently updated. Frankly, it's the best help documentation I've ever used. And that's kind of odd, because the product is pretty easy to learn and very easy to use. But those few times I couldn't figure out on my own how to do something, the help system provided the answer.

I really wish the "Emails" screen was a little less clunky. It feels silly to have to drill down through ALL the emails and ALL the email folders to find the individual email I want to work on every time. I'd like to have a way to filter that display. I'd also like a "Recents" button so it would remember the last 5-10 documents I worked on. But that is a small complaint compared to the amazing boost in productivity I get with SharpSpring.

Recommendations

Do NOT expect it to operate like a CRM. It has CRM-ish functions for tracking and updating leads, prospects & customers. And the Lead Scoring is outstanding. But the kind of features and functionality you would expect in a CRM are not here. That is not a criticism; I actually like that SharpSpring has focused on the marketing automation side. They have hooks to all the major CRM software, so that shouldn't be an issue as long as you keep your expectations in line with reality.

SharpSpring's leadership is committed to delivering a great product and support. That is #1. Also, they primarily sell their solution through partners like me. SharpSpring is my go-to platform of choice after using Infusionsoft from 2008 to 2015, when I found SharpSpring and bailed on Infusionsoft. Best decision I've ever made.

Not much to dislike. Do NOT take my ease of use, set up rating below literally. It's easy for ME and my crew. It's NEVER easy for you. Unless you have 10,000 hours screwing around learning this kind of solution. It is NOT easy to set up. None of these systems are. Don't buy the BS some of these companies pitch. The key to success with SharpSpring and others is you have to know what you're doing to set up SharpSpring and make it perform well. (Pr pay a pro!) It's just like any CRM or marketing automation solution you invest in; you must choose wisely and plan to invest over the long run to make it work.

Recommendations

Never buy this kind of software in a seminar and be wary of the direct sales pitch you get from any software company. NO software will double your sales. This software will highlight all your flaws in sales and marketing process, team, until you let a professional help you break through any bottlenecks we analyze. Then we crush them. Or you do.
