Founded in 2008, Canvas is a robust, cloud-based system that caters to businesses looking to replace cumbersome paperwork and manual data entry with streamlined, customizable mobile apps. The ease of use for learners, teachers, and admins is hard to beat. There is so much functionality with very little work in maintenance.

Likes Least

Its hard to find something really bad. The only thing I can think of is if you want customization for an organization, the thresholds for users is maybe a bit high.

Recommendations

If you have any sort of learning institute within your organization, whether corporate or not, this can be a useful tool. If you have classes that involve coursework over time, this is the best way to organize the course, distribute information to the learners, and have learners submit work and interact with each other and the instructor.

I like the ability to take any piece of paper, turn it digitally, and make it seamless for us and our employees. We look more professional on projects, and there is no more losing papers.

Recommendations

Work with the crew to create your sheets. This is similar to any other program you put in place in that if you don't use it, it cannot help you. Create your sheets, learn it, use it, and worry about other things.

I can modify the app to do just about anything I need it to do for our company. We can verify who made the deliveries, who signs for the deliveries, where the deliveries occurred via gps, what items were delivered, and more. We aren't in the dark ages anymore, we can now lookup these items at any time via the online website vs looking through old folders of information!

Cons

Some of the operations can seem clunky and a little less intuitive. Once you learn them, it isn't hard to master, but it may not work the way you would originally think.

Eliminated paper forms, improved tracking, data storage, and improved accuracy.

Pros

It is easy to design an app and it was very intuitive for our crew to figure out how to use it. The ability to take pictures in the form really improved out accuracy and error finding. The fact that everything was stored in the cloud really improved our record keeping ability.

Cons

The price isn't really worth it for the functionality that we use. We pay for things that we do not use.

Use this before making decisions.

Pros

forms available to staff on galaxy pad and can be filled out after an incident quickly. Also no stacks of incident forms on my desk. Awesome. Able to set up test runs while rest of staff learned the system and still be able to group rates if we wish.

Cons

A bit expensive for small department with many users. otherwise happy. The system seems to be easy to use, no issue there.

I have used Moodle, Blackboard, BrainHoney, D2L and Canvas. Of all the LMSs on the market Canvas is probably the easiest and most intuitive software to use. It offers a robust set of tools and LTI options to further improve the quality and I would highly recommend using it for your educational needs.

When I first went to undergrad, Facebook had just opened up to students beyond Harvard, and papers were still turned in by hand. Now that I'm returning to school to get my nursing degree, I'm loving the use of online hubs like Canvas! The ease of turning in papers, taking quizzes, checking due dates and receiving feedback online, instead of in hard copy, makes my school life so much easier.

Canvas is very easy to use, if your professor knows what they're doing, and sets their Canvas site up well. Unfortunately, many professors still have trouble developing their Canvas site, which can really decrease the usability of the software. I use both the Canvas app and website. I find the website to be very user-friendly, but the app is buggy and lags in its speed.

Overall, I enjoy using Canvas, but I hope they continue to improve their app to make it faster and more consistent.

First I studied on some LMS, then I have chosen the Canvas for building my own e-course on this platform. I like that it is adaptive for Russian language, for mobile devices, friendly and simple for students. I have noticed that the LMS is developing, and judging by previous reviews it becomes better and better. All the rest depend on instructor.

Advice to Others

The best web browser for this LMS is Google Chrome (from my experience).
I would recommend to develop the scope of web browsers.

This app has revolutionised how we gather data from our field users. Canvas has replaced email requests for data, electronic surveys from a number of different sites and the infamous 8th hand excel document that features 20 different tyoes of formatting and no version control: Instead we now recieve standard, regular data from our users in realtime. Field users like the simple design, the ease of use and the portability of an iPad app. Head office teams love the standardised data.

Canvas was the first and the only solution that we decided upon for our paperless contract documentation. We love the easy to use an app and the ability to scale with future employees. If We had one complaint it would the learning curve it takes to set up a new form. But once you understand how to build it everything is a snap.

I use Canvas for almost all my classes and it is a great way for teachers to post assignments, announcements, quizzes, handouts, and grades. It's also easy for students to access files, check grades, and turn in assignments. The limiting factor on Canvas is usually how well a professor can use it- if they don't know how to change the way grades are weighted, for instance, then the total grade won't be accurate. But overall Canvas is easy to use and getting better. The mobile app needs a little bit of help- it's kind of buggy sometimes and doesn't have all the features that the web app does

Canvas can do so much! It definitely eliminates extra work for teachers and frees up time to focus on student's needs. I like the Video Guides which are a repository of videos with "how to" info. There are also Canvas Guides that incorporate screenshots with notions from various users (students. instructors, admin, etc). Canvas has been a great LMS for our organization.
