The hiring strategy in Greenhouse starts by finding the right candidates, and they incorporate a variety of sources, such as job boards, in-person events, external agencies and referrals. A/B testing allows teams to know which job posts garner the best potential candidates. It’s a functional tool for tracking ROI and optimizing campaigns. Greenhouse also encourages current employees to help with applicant sourcing. They can submit referrals and share job openings via social media.

Having a solid plan for the interviewing process saves time for both hiring teams and candidates. Greenhouse defines a consistent process for interviews and, since everyone follows this same agenda, it’s easier to objectively compare candidates' strengths and weaknesses. The Greenhouse Interview Kit contains a candidate’s resume, contact info, as well as instructions for the interview and a scorecard for capturing feedback.

So often, applicant tracking systems tend to be missing one or more critical features that are critical for a great ATS. I love that Greenhouse has consolidated all of the best ATS features into one product. Nice user interface, easy user maintenance, candidate scoring, referral tracking, offer letter management, great reporting, integrations with HRIS systems, you name it. It's all there.

The only thing I feel they are missing is the ability to build automated questionnaires into the interview workflow.

Definitely take a look. I've worked with many different ATS companies over the years, and Greenhouse has become my go-to ATS. I've migrated multiple companies over to them and it's always a great experience for the recruiters and hiring managers.

The webinars are really helpful and the product is relatively easy to learn. Integrates with practically every HRIS. The interface is clean and simple.

I don't like the scheduling function; having to go out to Google to find resources as opposed to having that information pulled in. Would also like to be able to rank candidates within jobs. Have to go into each candidate to look at ratings.

the chat support is terrible. I want to be able to talk to someone. Filtering jobs isn't always easy. Need more advanced search features. REPORTING is also not that great. Too difficult to create ad hoc reports and the canned reports are not what I need. I also want a dedicated account rep that actually checks in on us personally once and awhile.

Are you willing to grow with this product? It is a dent tool but needs improvement. I think they will get there but not quickly.

- The Greenhouse software is quite expensive. The price rises with the number of employees in your company. When you sign up, make sure you also know about the development of the pricing when your company grows.

- Can you set up interview processes and structures?
- Does the software make sure the candidates have a comparable procedure and experience?

First off, the Greenhouse team is super responsive to questions! The simply chat window at the bottom makes it easy to get a hold of a representative when there is an issue. Overall, the entire system is SO easy to use! I train new hires and managers on the system and I only get a few that come back with questions. The offer process - easy. Changing the interview plan - simple. Scheduling, adding permissions, creating templates - it's a breeze. We moved over from a previous ATS that was not intuitive, customer service was miserable, and we felt very limited on what we could control with the system. Greenhouse is very customizable, super easy to use and troubleshoot, and encompasses everything that an ATS should!

The one downside to Greenhouse is that they constantly are updating their UI to the point where it confuses the users! I find that after I've created training material, Greenhouse will change the UI and I have to take new screen shots and update my deck. They then do not update their own training material quickly enough for users to use. I've also found that they have been having some issues when it comes to the communication between Outlook and the system. They have had to change the scheduling alias multiple times from calendar@greenhouse.io to calendar2@greenhouse.io to schedule@ghcalendar.io to fix the issue.

Recommendations

This is great for our start-up! We are excited to grow with Greenhouse and know that there may be some growing pains along the way that they will need to work out. But they are open to feedback and treat their customers wonderfully!

We transitioned to Greenhouse from Taleo and it has been one of our best decisions because the product operates the way a good recruiting organization operates. Our old ATS would simply track and hold info (basically we did the work and told the ATS what we had done as a record) but Greenhouse actually facilitates our interviewing, selection and hiring process. It also easily integrates with our background check system and Workday. As good as this is the support we have received from our Customer Success Manager as well as the integration team and the reporting system team has been amazing. I would give them a perfect Net Promoter score.

I love this system and we've only been using it for 3 months.

Its so easy to use and a great way to involve the whole company in the recruitment process. We used to use a simple database for housing candidates but not only does Greenhouse house candidates, it tracks candidates like no other system. Literally everything can be done through one system which reduces the need to use several browsers and tabs to set up interviews, collect feedback, etc.. I love the custom scorecards and interview plans for each role and the user interface is amazing.

The customer service is impeccable. No matter what day of the week or the time, I get an extremely helpful response within the hour - it doesn't get better than that.

Greenhouse is a MUST have ATS.

It can sometimes be tricky to find candidates you have rejected or after a role has been closed - you have to remember to convert them to prospects.

Think about what it is you are hoping to achieve when evaluating a new ATS. What value are you hoping to get out it and always consider the bigger picture, for example, would a small company benefit from a cheaper, more basic ATS or invest in something that sets you up for success as you grow?

The only con is the LinkedIn integration: it's OK but could be deeper.

Recommendations

If you're hesitating whether to buy an ATS or keep using spreadsheets, go for a real ATS. You can't imagine what a change it makes :)

The way it allows for easy team collaboration and the level of customization available when it comes to developing internal interview processes. The hiring process for each role can be as simple or complex as it needs to be. The client support resources are also as good as it gets.

Just like every other SaaS company, there are features that could be added but it's just a matter of getting them on the product road map. I feel they do a great job of listening to product improvement suggestions and providing a realistic expectation whether it's feasible and a possible timeframe.

Our company moved from a total manual recruiting workflow (stacks of folders on the floor, Excel spreadsheets, resumes on various hard drives, candidate notes in different files) to Greenhouse's sophisticated software. No longer do I have to look in 4-5 different spots to find complete information for one candidate; the time savings is phenomenal.

Now I work daily with a system that is easy to configure, flexible & adaptable to our style of recruiting, has all candidate information in one spot and with features that optimize our process.

Greenhouse's customer service is excellent. My account manager is very responsive to my questions and issues; feedback is prompt and on target.

The "Support" section can be confusing and doesn't always answer your question. It's always better to go with the Chat Box or to contact your rep to get questions answered. Also, often times the offer letters don't convert to PDFs so you have to do that manually.

Recommendations

Definitely keep in close contact with your representative, and do as many webinars and calls to go over each aspect of the system.
