iContact is a Web-based email marketing tool designed for businesses of all sizes. This solution offers email design, list management, campaign management and social media publishing within a single solution.

iContact features multiple customizable email templates that help users design content for their email campaigns. Users can also schedule message delivery by picking the right tags from their email lists.

A key feature of this solution is SpamCheck, which reduces the chances of emails being labeled spam by checking the email subject, HTML email and text email against a set of rules thereby improving the email deliverability.

In addition to its email marketing capabilities, iContact also offers social media integration with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, allowing users to publish content on these websites from within the solution itself.

With the help of customized reports and dashboards to monitor campaign performance, users can gain a complete view of all their email campaigns.

Very easy to use and many templates to choose from. I also like that iContact interfaces with Salesforce which we are in the process of possibly implementing for our sales team.

Likes Least

I don't like that I'm not able to send attachments. I also don't like that I can't make the templates wider if I need to.

Recommendations

Determine how much this will fit into your marketing plan. There is a limit on how many emails you can send, how many contacts you can have saved and images. Also, determine if you will be using other software for marketing or sales functions if they will interface with iContact.

It's pretty easy to make an enews look good without any coding knowledge. Every year I create a new template for our event based on that year's theme, and every years I find one I can tweak to fit our needs without too much trouble.

Cons

I often have to clear out my images because we use up our storage space. I guess we could buy a bigger package, though, so not sure if that counts!

We use iContact for our mailing lists, and it does the job. The built-in message builder leaves something to be desired in terms of ease of use and functionality, and their image size is incredibly small, but it works for what we need it for. If you're more technically skilled, they do allow you to upload HTML messages, so that's one way to get your message more to your liking. Overall, it does what we need it to, so can't complain too much.

Pros

Great access to analytics, easy to re-use message templates

Cons

Not the easiest to navigate, build-in message builder can be a little difficult at times

If you're looking for a mailing list system, iContact gets the job done.

iContact is easy to use but could use some updates. We don't use some of the tools on the site and it would be nice if we could personalize our site to use it even quicker. The customer service is awesome though & is always there to answer your questions.

Worked 15+ yrs in Sales/Marketing Automation. I reached out to 6 vendors for evaluation to start an initial conversation. My company is fairly young and they brought me on to define, create and implement an email & lead scoring strategy by implementing a Marketing Automation Solution. I received initial contact from SR Morgan Cottrell at iContact, who refuse to put me in touch with a sales person or set up a call for a demo to even learn about iContact as a solution. I've implemented their competition at fortune 500 companies (Marketo and Eloqua) and wanted to see what set them a part. I gave the information we had and was still told that wasn't enough - requesting the same information over and over again when I don't have it. If you are legacy user of Marketing Automation, save yourself the trouble and avoid contacting iContact all together. You'll be bombarding with emails, then told if you don't have the information they are looking for, then you are NOT worth the relationship as a customer. I hope to be pretty woman in a month coming back and saying, "Big Mistake".

Terrible sales process if you are considering iContact as a vendor

Advice to Others

the customer is always right, if they want a demo to learn about your product - give it to them. you aren't the leader in the market place for Marketing Automation and when people (like myself) want to give you a shot - you take it. not tell me if i won't give you the information you want - you'll walk away from a sale.

I have used a number of other products that were on the free to cheaper end - they do not even start to compare with the features that are available on iContact. Very happy so far, I have had all the help/education that I need and the product is extremely user friendly.

Time to make a change after 2 years. Go elsewhere for service. Better options with better employee attitudes, better editors, faster servers and servers that don't crash losing your work. Many excuses and no straight answers.

Cost effective - not really

Poor editors. Won't take HTML from Dreamweaver. Poor attitude of US based Tech Supervisors. If you go over your contact limit they don't tell you by email and will hold your pending release even if it is destined for only 50% of your total allowed.
