TimeCamp Software

TimeCamp is a web-based time tracking software solution that enables project managers to collaborate, track billable work hours and monitor project status.

This solution assists organizations in calculating billable tasks, creating invoices, time management and tracking attendance.

TimeCamp’s timesheets module provides a dashboard of work hours and enables automated time tracking for employees.

In addition, project management can create different sub-tasks in projects and delegate each sub-task within the team. Users can create bills according to complexity, employees assigned and working hours.

TimeCamp’s time management feature enables automated tracking of computer usage and generates productivity analyses for each employee.

The solution also shares automated weekly emails summarizing work completed, time wasted, productive hours and lists of time-consuming websites.

TimeCamp integrates with numerous applications and comes with add-on features for additional functionality.

I like it. When we hire a second person, I believe we will upgrade to the paid version.

Pros

It's very easy to use.
setting up projects and subcategories is easy.
I like using it.
There is a web version and a desktop version.

Cons

It's easy to forget to clock out and it does not stop the timer when the computer is turned off.
The desktop portion of it seems to lack the functionality of the web based version.

Desktop app so I can switch tasks without having to switch tasks :D
Plenty of options in the API so you can integrate with your other applications.

Cons

Reports are ok for the most part -- hard to customize them. For example, you cannot get a daily summary breakdown of the hours spent doing specific tasks for specific projects.

Pros

Efficient as far as logging time and activities goes. Easy to use, and pleasing to the eye. Really does a good overall log of your day and how you spent your time. My experience was only as a surface level user so I interacted mainly with the actual time logging front end rather than also synchronising briefs from Podio and reviewing time spent etc. Purely as a surface level user it was a pleasant experience.

Cons

A bit difficult to constantly switch between tasks while trying to work as well. So before I move from one task to the next, go into the Timecamp window 1. stop timing old task, 2. enter the new job number, 3. start timing and 4. remember to switch before next task! Important to note that the way my company used the program also forced us to operate in this way. unless you have a very well organised briefing system, logging time can become difficult.

I use it for basic timekeeping, the company I work for uses another resource for corporate time sheets firm wide. I work in a small group of internal designers that reports more detail to management.

Pros

I like that I can choose a graphical or textual calendar for daily timekeeping, and prefer the graphical version. Rather than turning the timer on and off I manually move the time segments as I am working, in part because I jump from project to project. I like that there are several options for reporting, and that I can add detail to each task. Though I don't use this feature myself, that you can tag tasks as billable or not. I haven't used all the features yet, but appreciate the complexity for timekeeping, reporting, goal setting and efficiencies that this product offers.

Great integrations with Wrike and Jira, though haven't used them yet.

Cons

I would love to see video tutorials on the website that teach how to use the many features, appreciate the knowledge base page, but it helps to see someone using the tool or demo what you can do with it.

Pros

Time tracking is largely automated but the automatic tracking also works great if you're running a manual timer, iPhone app is easy to use, there's Google Calendar integration (even if it is done via Zapier and a bit basic), it just works! With TimeCamp it's really easy to see all the little bits of computer activity you haven't assigned and assign them to the correct task/project.

Cons

Google Calendar integration is bit basic, the graphic view of the timesheet could be so much easier to read and do stuff with, would be awesome to have a GPS based movement tracker on the iPhone app (as Timely does using the Moves app). UI and icons could be a little cleraner ane more modern. Other than this can't fault it really,.

I like how I can drill down to specific details of on any task. And the dashboard feature - that doesn't require me to build it, it just works!

Cons

I wish that I could toggle it off and on easier. I can enable "private time" so it stops tracking, but that takes several clicks.

Ease of time tracking. Client invoicing is much simpler than with our previous process. The time and invoicing tools have saved me hours every month.

Pros

Easy login and time tracking - two clicks to start a task. Invoice management is a great feature. I know exactly when the client opened the invoice. Support is excellent. If there is any small problem, the development team will take care of it quickly.

Cons

Making time / project corrections can take a few tries to get to the right place to adjust the entry.

It's very easy to add new tasks, 'on the fly'. The software is also very flexible. Reporting is easy to create.

Cons

- the desktop app sometimes has some hiccups
- once a task is created, it is not possible (as far as I know) to redefine it as a subtask of another task (correct me if i'm wrong :( )
- a windows phone app is missing

We were able to track how our time was being invested, how much hours we put in one project, effectively and to charge properly for it.

Pros

I like the graphical work. It makes so easy to process the final information with the reports. Also, with the work team, it makes easy to visualise the charge of hours for them.

Cons

The several issues of conection and bugs that we have had. But the support team worked on it and finally was fixed up.

Keep track of time for multiple clients with a timer.

Pros

Lets me enter hours (not a time range worked) and client - does not require me to enter a start and stop time. But at the same time, I can start and stop a timer if I want. It's simple, and that's all I wanted.

Pros

It seems like most of the other time/project managing apps have 75% of the features well designed and the remaining 25% are limited either due to their own software engineering or because of some kind of paywall, (for xyz feature to work properly you need to upgrade plans) but with TimeCamp all of the critical features I need seem to have been developed with equal importance and priority. It feels much more honest, for lack of a better word.

Cons

One of the features I like most about TimeCamp is my ability to create child/hierarchical components to tasks in any way I choose. Sometimes I find during a project I might want to rename a group of child tasks, but there is no good multi-object renaming feature that I can see. Bear in mind, this is a really nit-picky point- I find this app to be pretty much perfect.

I am able to accurately account for my time and billing

Pros

Occasionally, I need to track my time on projects so that I have an idea of the true cost and sometimes because I am billing exclusively on time. I am able to break a project into discrete sub-projects which gives me a good idea of what parts of a customer project are the most time consuming.

Cons

Setting up and creating the sub-projects is a bit confusing at first but once its figured out its easy as pie.

I have one client I do a freelance project for yearly, and I needed something to help me bill the job. I ought to get in the habit of tracking the non-billable time I spend on running the press.

Pros

I like how it aggregates time broken down into separate tasks. I like being able to keep it running all day.

Cons

When I've been away, it always asks me what I was doing, and it would be nice if I could add new task info at that time as well as selecting pre-defined tasks. Being able to then check that task as billable or not would be great.
