OpenTable is a cloud-based restaurant management solution that enables restaurant managers to accept online reservations and optimize seating arrangements. It is suitable for restaurants of all sizes.

OpenTable is available in two modules: Connect and Guest Center. The Connect module records reservations and can be configured to give guests information about offers and promotions. Automatic email and text notifications are sent to guests when they make a reservation. The tool also captures guest details including seating preferences, special occasions and other personal requests.

The Guest Center module allows restaurant owners to replicate the floor plan on their mobile device through OpenTable. Managers can track table availability and monitor the turnaround time for each guest. OpenTable also offers add-on modules to manage gifts, payments and private dining. The gifts module allows guests to receive and send restaurant gift cards. The payments module allows guests to make online payments through mobile phones.

OpenTable is a great resource for information on a particular venue. The number of restaurants that you are able to book with OpenTable makes the reservation experience simple and seamless nearly every time I'm making a lunch or dinner reservation.

Cons

As ubiquitous as OpenTable is, it certainly doesn't include every restaurant I'm looking for. There could be more clarity and a better interface when it comes to picking a certain time slot with the group size I happen to have. Additionally, the rewards system is not very clear at first glance.

It's a really great program on the backened and user facing. Wouldn't be able to do my job without it!

Pros

There's great attention paid to detail in the functionality. For everything you wish to do it seems like it has been anticipated and it has been made easy for you to do it.

Cons

There are times when it's doing what it is set up to do and yet still creates problems by not recognizing things like overbooking. It would be nice if there were settings available to automatically prevent this from happening.

I love that it is multi-functional and easy to use. It is easy to figure out and offers many recreational uses.

Cons

The program will sometimes glitch and go offline. It makes it difficult to use and access. It is not always easy to make changes to your sheets.

It is a very efficient service that office quick reservations in the click of a button. It is also offered on all devices which makes the reservation process much less stressful.

Cons

The time slots are sometimes inconsistent, but I am sure it is based on the restaurant availability versus how they plan for incoming guests.

Easy to make reservations and sends you reminders. Oft n has restaurant menus available to check out as well.

Cons

Difficult to schedule for large parties. Would recommend going directly to the restaurant for those requests. Often times out. Can't make multiple reservations, at different locations with in a certain time frame.

I like that I can book reservations on a laptop, my iPhone or over the phone.
I like the point system which promotes an incentive to dine.
I like that it's easy to cancel a reservation without having to speak to a hostess.

Cons

If you call a hostess to cancel a reservation and they're busy and forgot to mark it canceled, you get marked no-show and then have to deal with calling to fix it.

Cons

I think everything works very well. It would be nice to add filters in the iPhone app; such as checking a box for restaurants that have a focus on wine, or even recognizing establishments that have been given prestigious awards.

Very easy to use, intuitive platform. I always go to OpenTable before calling or emailing the restaurant because I can easily see what time slots are available on a given day. It's also good for when I want to make a reservation at a hard-to-book place and want to find, say, the first open weekend availability so I can quickly run dates and times by friends that will be joining me. I also live by my calendar, so I love that my Google calendar gets populated with the date, time, and address of the reservation and I can then share that with others on the reservation.

Cons

There are a lot of popular restaurants in Los Angeles that are not on OpenTable -- I wish it could be the 1-stop shop, every time, not just some of the time.

The app is really easy to use and I love how it recommends other similar venues that would be a good fit based on my other searches.

Cons

Recently I've had to use Resy for a handful of reservations because the restaurants I'm reserving have switched, and I think they do a better job of communicating over text message with reminders and facilitating communication with the venue if I'm running late.

I've used this platform as both a hostess and as a guest to make reservations and have never had an issue with it. A section I refer to most on the site is the experience rating addressing: food, service, ambiance, value and noise.

Pros

Visually appealing, allows flexibility in making and cancelling reservations without hassle. The reviews help not only in arranging reservations but ensuring the venue is to your liking as well. Each restaurant page clearly indicates details including hours, cuisine, price and contact information. Finally, it's always nice to be able to make special requests for occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries - the platform even prompts you to do so.

Cons

It's important to read cancellation policies before confirming if making last minute reservations however this has never posed a major problem.

Cons

I like the ability to discover new restaurants, especially when traveling, and I love the ability to view the restaurant's availability and make a reservation without needing to speak to a person.

Cons

It seems to me as if the site caters towards fine dining. Most of the restaurants that are on the site tend to be on the pricey side.

Unfortunately, since there are so fee restaurants in the system and since most of the restaurants are higher end, the ratings system is a bit skewed.

Pros

The tags and pictures are excellent. System is free to use and has many top restaurants. It is very easy and efficient to make reservations.

Cons

How you've absolutely screwed us with the loyalty points. It's nigh impossible to redeem the points. You have to game the reservation process by showing up at the restaurant and playing dumb - it's the only way to redeem the points and still get a reservation. Shame on you! It's absolute, corporate BS.

Your web app is far inferior to your iOS app. You need a universal search function on any screen - I shouldn't have to go back to home to start a new search.

I love how easy it is to make reservations and modify or cancel them. I can do all of this within a minute on my phone and on the go, which is especially helpful when plans change and I need to alter my reservation.

Cons

Your account gets dinged if you miss you reservation, but they remind you multiple times so that you don't forget or miss your reservation. Also, if you need to cancel, you can do so very close up to the reservation time.

Was able to be put on the waitlist before we arrived at the restaurant. It saved us 30 minutes in waiting. All we had to do was walk to the hostest stand and give our name. 10/10 will use again for busy Friday nights.

Cons

The only real negative that I noticed was that the app didn't keep track of how long the total wait time would be. We could see how many people were in front of us but not how long they had been waiting.

Pros

The functionality of OpenTable, even on my iPhone, is very user friendly. I've never had a problem with booking a table through the app, nor have I had an issue on the rare occasion that I use my laptop. I absolutely despise having to call restaurants to make a reservation, because I've often been received by an annoyed response from the host on the receiving end of my call who makes me feel like I'm wasting their time. OpenTable absolutely bypasses this issue, thankfully.

Cons

I truly wish this was in every restaurant to keep the drama out of egos from some restaurant hosts that answer the phones. The CON for OpenTable is that it isn't in every restaurant I want to visit.

Defacto solution for restaurant search. Use it all the time.

Pros

Database is good. It's quite easy to book the restaurant that you have selected. Info like phone, website and address add value.

Cons

Hard to cancel and book another restaurant on the fly (support for this isn't great). Hard to get it to recognize a location outside of your usual area. Booking is limited based on what the restaurants offer in terms of times and table size. Loyalty program rewards aren't the best incentive.
