Stripe handles all critical functions, such as subscriptions, storing cards, and direct payouts to user bank accounts. Stripe is suitable for businesses of all sizes and offers solutions for mobile and Web payments that are specially built for developers.

Other key features include full-stack payments, PCI compliance, invoice paying, instant payment acceptance, shared customers and collection of transaction fees. Stripe does not require any card storage fees, validation fees, setup fees, monthly fees, or refund fees.

Stripe provides several support options such as online support, a customer knowledge base and forums. Additionally, Stripe can be integrated with various applications such as Shopify, FreshBooks, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Subscriptions, TalentLMS, Squarespace, Sellsy, Intercom, Slack, Zapier and Abacus.

Likes Best

Stripe has been from time to time the only gateway available for certain applications, which has made it invaluable. It was easy to get my account set up and I have never had an issue with the service. Price wise their processing fees are on par with other gateways I have used.

Likes Least

It does take a little longer for payments to clear than it does through other gateways but this has not been much of a bother.

Recommendations

Get an account if there is an API for your application. The more options your customers have the better I think.

There are no pros big enough that you can't get elsewhere. Their service is nothing special that you can't get with another provider.

Cons

1. The customers service if any at all, is just emails back and forth and trying to get someone to figure out you money is a pain.
2. After giving them all the information and bank account sign in they still held me to a 7 day payout plan before which they say on the first transaction would be 7 days. Now the email from.the impersonal customer care agent tells me I have to go thru some months of this to even be considered for this option, which is a completely​ unacceptable.

How did we ever do payment processing before? I switched my legacy business from a traditional credit card processing company to Stripe and was able to save them 1.3% per transaction. When you do up to in credit card transactions per month, that's a big deal! The platform is so intuitive, and anyone can figure it out pretty quickly. Customer support is spectacular, and I liked how they learned more about our company to verify the number of transactions, etc. If you want the most secure and affordable card processing platform, then go ahead and download Stripe today.

Looking back, I feel so fortunate we got in the beta, as Stripe solved a ton of problems seamlessly, where we would have had to invest a lot of time & effort otherwise, just to start making payments.

I really like Stripe for credit card processing. It works seamlessly with CounSol so I only have to access the Stripe console to reconcile the transfers with my bank statement.

Pros

The new interface is really easy to navigate.

Wish I could import the transfer information directly into Xero

I have a squarespace site with an ecommerce store and since Stripe is integrated into Squarespace, I decided to use them as my payment processor. They have been excellent and deposit money into my account fast. I am also surprised at how Stripe manages to stay on top of all the trends in ecommerce such as offering subscription payment services and even having integration with Facebook Stores and Twitter Shopping.

Pros

Easy to use
Manages to constantly come out with new features
Keeps up to date with new payment trends like Apple Pay, Subscription services, Twitter/Facebook shopping.

Cons

Support is email only, no phone support

Advice to Others

Use Stripe for your site, I doubt you'd be able to find another processor as good as them.

I am a psychologist in solo private practice and see many young adults who prefer to pay with debit or credit cards. Stripe makes it so easy. Stripe is integrated with my electronic health record system, Simple Practice, and I can quickly enter and store client's credit card information there. I love Stripe.

Stripe has been phenomenal for my business. I'm not a developer but have been able to easily find integrations for the software that I use. The new dashboard is incredible!

Pros

The dashboard is really easy and simple to use. I love being able to easily add payments or subscriptions from the dashboard.

Cons

If you aren't a developer, you'll be limited in what all that you can do with Stripe.

Stripe makes it very easy to setup subscriptions or charge credit cards directly. The API is easy to use and is comprehensive.

Pros

The API is very well documented, Stripe's support team is pretty good as well. If you can think of something you want to do, the API most likely handles it.

Cons

The billing portal could use a few more features. It is pretty developer-centric but could have some more quality of life features.

Advice to Others

Take a look at the API documentation before getting started, it covers most any question you will encounter.

We use stripe to keep record of our customer's payments, refunds, balances, etc. It is very effective sending our customers their confirmation emails, and receipts. We have it linked with our personal information and works great!

Pros

1) you can have an overall view of the payment of your customers
2) issue partial or full refunds
3) apply promo codes that can be set up to be multi-monthly

Cons

1) requires a password every time you want to save changes
2) Coupons that expired cannot be reactivated

Advice to Others

Should have an manual way to change credit cards on file and refund the money to that new credit card saved

Stripe is one of the best (if not the best) platforms for accepting payments out there. It's very flexible and includes so many features such as running subscriptions, discounts, coupons, issuing refunds etc. I think the best thing about Stripe is its documentation. It's super clear and to-the-point. We were able to set up the whole payment system in no time. We needed to contact their customer support one time and they were responsive and helpful too.

Highly recommended.

We had Paypal for our e-commerce website and our customers always ran into issues. Although Paypal has lower/ different fee structures, Stripe has one standard fee for all types of transactions. Plus they offer so much customization for your brand. So far we love Stripe.

My business is Athena Tuition (www.athenatuition.co.uk) - a tutoring agency in the UK, and we started using Stripe through our use of Tutorcruncher software. naturally, Stripe was available as a choice to use, and we wanted to try it out to easily accept card payments. Getting set up was very easy, and we have never had any issues so far.

Pros

Low commission

Simple and functional back end to manage payments
Integration with Tutorcruncher agency software

Cons

The commission could be lower?
Payment could be transferred to our account a little faster?
Not much else.

Advice to Others

Compared with any other service like Paypal or Braintree, Stripe wins. Gocardless is a little cheaper, but Stripe has no direct debit guarantee which is great.
