Itemize is a cloud-based accounting solution specializing in expense management. This product is designed for use on mobile devices. Users take pictures of invoices and receipts with their smartphones or tablets and that data is then stored and can be used to generate expense reports.

Itemize use artificial intelligence to analyzes receipt, extracts data points, scores the document for extraction accuracy and returns details via its API in under thirty seconds. All expense data is stored in the cloud for ten years with bank-level information encryption.

Itemize allows users to request or make a payment by accessing company account via mobile or desktop. They can also track mileage for business trips. This solution automatically calculates mileage rate and reimbursement based on distance.

Itemize offers integration with Xero and Quickbooks Online. It is priced per user per month. Mobile apps are available for both with Android and iOS.

Perfect if you are on the go a lot!

It is helped ease some of our workload along with our accounting assistant so everyone seems happy.

Pros

I am terrible for losing receipts so being able to take a picture and upload is a blessing.

Cons

Sometimes the camera feature didn't capture all the information which gets frustrating.

Easy and convenient receipt management

Pros

Ease of use and assigning expenses to a particular project. Saves hours of time and organizes year end totals effortlessly.

Cons

No ability to create categories and subcategories. Some of my companies want reports specialized to them, so I cannot use this.

If only....

I purchased Itemize when it appeared I would need to keep accurate records of expenditure incurred as a part of my role. However, my employer changed the system that was previously used, rendering the need for Itemize redundant. Despite my change of circumstances and my cessation of a need, I have continued to promote Itemize to friends and colleagues in other areas. Some have taken my suggestion seriously and become customes.

Pros

I found Itemize incredibly intuitive, easy to use and very functional.

Cons

I don't think I have any negative experiences to cite.

My best advice is to take direct pictures of your receipts directly with your camera. This will save a lot of time.

With a full year experience overal it’s pretty good way to keep track of receipts and spending. In the end for taxes you will need to roll up the sleeves a bit and dig through the overal spending info.

Pros

I liked the ease of tracking my spending receipts. This helped with tax time and speeding up my return process.
I liked the fact it saves the receipts so I didn’t need to.

Cons

It didn’t break it out in a spread form that was easy to read and is costly.

Easy and straight forward

I like it enough to keep using it, but if a comparable company were to pop up with excellent customer service, I'd switch in a heart beat.

Pros

I love how easy it is to take pictures of the receipts and have all the information pre-populate.

Cons

It is challenging to remove tags and categories after they have been added. The computer version is not easy to use. I had some challenges several months ago and could not reach a customer support agent. I also use this program for a few clients and it's not easy to log out/log in if you get the wrong information. For example, if I enter an incorrect email address the system will repeatedly ask me to sign up again. The repeated pop ups make it very challenging to enter a new email address.

Itemize review

Our accounting department has used this product extensively to save us time as we go through invoices. We no longer need to have an associate enter every invoice we have. We are able to significantly cut our time on this task.

Pros

This software helps parse data from receipts, invoices, and the like, and I love that there is a software that can do all of this automatically for me.

Cons

The API has caused some issues for our company, but we have been able to get great help from customer service, and our IT personnel have been able to quickly implement their assistance.

A descent app.

Generally, I never have time to fill out a form and/standard expenses report. This is the only stand alone app that effectively allows me to log, organize and generate reports in a short time.

Pros

The easy way to photo record my receipts.
The ease of creating and emailing my reports

Cons

1st, the application lacks in finding certain types of vendors. Not a lot of info in the provided lists to easily pic out the correct vendor. Especially with gas stations that have multiple locations in one community.
2nd, you don't allow for enough Tag entries. I'm a road sales guy and usually see more that 4 clients in one trip.

Love this program!

I believe it’s a little expensive, as I only use it for my household expenses. I am retired so I do not have business expenses. I would love a little bit of a discount next year if possible .

Pros

The spreadsheets I can print at the end of the year!

Cons

Some of the glitches are frustrating, such as entering the type of expense, any title with the first letter higher than an L is not showing up right now!

Best expense management app around

It does exactly what it needs to, it keeps track of my expenses in a simple manner that also allows me to easily make reports end of the month to ensure I bill clients and keep my administration in check. Love it!

Good app to track expenses

The concept/app is very good, but need to improve the use for multiple countries

Pros

Great ACR capabilities, so identify most of the texts of the invoices.

Cons

Multi currency/countries does not work well. Do not have a favorites countries/currencies list so it is hard to add bills of other countries. Bug adding bills manually.
