### About iCloud

iCloud is a file storage solution that helps businesses backup and share photos, notes, documents and other data with stakeholders. It lets users create multiple folders, rename them and add color-coded tags to organize files as per individual preferences.

iCloud enables administrators to share files and configure permission rights, restricting specific users to view, share or edit information. It lets users synchronize data across all devices for applications, such as iCal, Contacts, Reminders and Safari. Additionally, team members can collaborate and receive real-time updates on documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

iCloud uses two-factor authentication and sends temporary verification codes to trusted devices, allowing users to sign-in on multiple devices. It is available on monthly pricing and support is extended via documentation, phone and other online measures.

## iCloud Pros and Cons

We analyzed 1,961 verified reviews for iCloud to find out what actual users really think.

Real-Time Sync Across Devices

With iCloud, users benefit from real-time synchronization of files, photos, contacts, and documents across all Apple devices. Changes made on one device are instantly reflected on others, supporting productivity and easy access whether at home, work, or on the go.

Automatic Backup And Security

iCloud provides automatic backup for photos, files, and app data, giving users peace of mind if devices are lost or damaged. The service is valued for secure storage, easy restoration, and reliable syncing, helping users keep data safe and accessible across devices.

Integration Across Apple Devices

iCloud is tightly integrated with Apple devices, making it easy to access files, settings, and apps across iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches. Users appreciate logging in from any device to retrieve data, switch devices smoothly, and enjoy a unified Apple ecosystem experience.

Subscription Costs Add Up

Many users are frustrated by the need to pay for extra storage once the free limit is reached. Monthly and annual plans can be expensive, and price jumps between tiers are significant. The ongoing cost is a common concern, especially for those with large data needs.

Navigation And Access Difficulties

Managing files in iCloud can be confusing, with slow uploads, awkward downloads, and limited offline access. Users report trouble finding, deleting, or transferring files, especially large ones, and experience glitches or delays when working outside the Apple ecosystem.

Limited Free Storage Options

iCloud's free storage is restricted to 5GB, which fills up quickly for most users. Managing larger files or backing up multiple devices often requires paid upgrades, and some find the cost high compared to alternatives. File transfers and organization can also be challenging.

iCloud is really convenient for our Apple devices. I like that my photos, contacts, and files are automatically backed up without me having to think about it. It keeps everything in sync, which makes switching between devices easy.

Pros:

I like that you can access your files from anywhere. What I liked most about iCloud is how it automatically backs up and syncs my data across all my devices. It makes everything easily accessible without needing to manually transfer files.

Cons:

The only downside is running out of storage pretty quickly and the needs to buy for more storage (which can be expensive sometimes), but overall it makes life a lot simpler.

Necessary for apple users, yet a neverending frivolous task

Overall, iCloud is useful and somewhat essential for Apple users, but it’s far from seamless. The main cons for me and many, syncing inconsistencies and limited storage, make it feel more frustrating than it should be and seem to worsen over time.

Pros:

iCloud is nearly unavoidable if you’re an Apple user, and it does make being one easier in a lot of ways. I like being able to access my notes, photos, and other data across all of my Apple devices, especially since I use several on a daily basis (iPad, Macbook, watch). iCloud Keychain has also been incredibly helpful for managing passwords, it’s one of if not the most useful features to me. Automatic backups are another plus.

Cons:

iCloud seems to prove more frustrating and inconsistent with time. Still, when setting up new devices from backup, old photos/contacts/messages reappear as annoying clutter. Storage is still a major downside. I don't know anyone personally with a family under iCloud that does not pay for additional storage. Seems like you are even more, now, being pushed into paying for extra room, what should be a given. Constantly managing storage and deciding if memories and important docs are worth extra monthly payment is super annoying as a brand-loyal apple user.

Pros:

Apple's iCloud is an incredible platform and I use it throughout the day every single day. I really love and appreciate that all my data and files are safe, secure, and easily accessible.

Cons:

iCloud has very limited storage and regularly really encourages the user to upgrade and purchase more terabytes of storage space. It very much feels necessary since the initial free storage offered fills up fast.

Pros:

I love the way that I can easily store my information and share my files that I have saved and know that they are secure. It was not a learning curve at all. Since I got a phone I’ve always used Apple and I will continue to be a portal customer. I’ve never had any bugs or issues with this application. I’ve never had to reach out to customer support. I love that I can easily add my signature digitally without needing any paper. We pay for the family iCloud storage and the price for what we get is extraordinary! Love

Cons:

I don’t have any concerns except it would be nice if it was a bit easier to share the storage with my family. It’s a bit complicated but I believe we have it figured out now.

Average for standard jobs, difficult for agency jobs.

5

We utilize it because it's preloaded on our Apple products, not because it's the best. Limited storage and cumbersome sharing cause a dip in productivity for a small agency that's mostly operating in the digital realm. If you're all-Apple all the time, works! Otherwise, you will be forced to work around all the time.

Ratings Breakdown

5

Ease of use

4

Functionality

Pros:

For personal use the 5GB free tier is good. Syncing my iPhone to Macbook is quite dependable, site visit photos appear on my Mac within minutes of taking them. The shared folders feature works well if you're coordinating campaign assets with freelancers, but we've been more successful with other platforms when we have to do more intensive collaboration.

Cons:

Versioning can be a pain with presentations that are being edited by a number of people. Last month I lost 3 hours worth of changes to my deck due to someone's changes overwriting my deck. The web interface is as dated as 2015 and I don't even want to talk about sharing large video files with Windows clients.

iCloud is very convenient and easy to use, especially if you are already in the Apple ecosystem. Syncing between iPhone, iPad, and Mac is seamless, and features like photo backup, file storage, and device backup make life a lot easier. It is especially helpful for keeping important information secure and accessible across devices. The automatic syncing is one of its biggest strengths because it saves time and reduces stress.

Cons:

One downside is that storage can fill up quickly, especially with photos, videos, and backups. This can lead to needing a paid plan sooner than expected
