ActiveCampaign is easy to use and sleek email marketing software

I've had a good experience with ActiveCampaign and sent many thousands of emails with this software without any issues. The reporting is top notch and it's good to get live data feedback on how your campaigns are performing.

Pros

I think the best feature of this software is how easy it was to use. You didn't need to know much about email marketing to get setup and be sending good looking emails to your customers. The dashboard and reporting features are sleek and easy to navigate through. The present the data clearly and in a pleasant to view manner. They also have many templates to create new campaigns with and you can edit them without needing to know HTML.

Cons

The only downside I can think of is that there are so many features that I don't use and I don't really know how to use. That's more on me than ActiveCampaign though. If I wanted to use those features I could easily look at their documentation to implement.

Customize your campaigns

It is a good platform that quickly automates your email marketing campaign projects by collecting subscriptions from a mailing list already obtained or generating more subscriptions. All that without mentioning the affordable price to any company, big or small.

Pros

It integrates very well with several websites where several data are processed as well as with several CRMs making an easier job when transferring information. It contains many very robust and affordable features for any type of user with different needs, thus being able to create fully personalized email marketing campaigns. The response time also gives points in favor to this software, its attention is fast.

Cons

You should have a multitasking so you can manage different campaigns more quickly. The app on android should improve, sometimes it closes as it gets slow, thus preventing the use of the mima. Another problem is when passing information from one campaign to another, having to start from scratch makes the process of creating an email slow.

ActiveCampaign Was My Confusionsoft Replacement

ActiveCampaign has been great, including customer service.

Pros

It has robust features to rival Infusionsoft yet so much easier to use. The integration with Facebook Custom Audiences is my favorite feature.

Cons

The email template builder could use some updating and a wider selection of templates.

Best Value for Money in the Basic Plan

I love it. Whenever I am stuck the support team is very fast to respond and helping me out. Very easy to set up.

Pros

I love ActiveCampaign for the fact that you can put Tags onto contacts and that you can run Automations with it that simply work. The visual composer for your automation flows make it very easy to set them up. Deliverability of what I have seen so far is very good. Many native integration with SaaS.

Cons

Well the Design does not look very modern anymore. However, everything works so probably no need to change it. More native integrations with Apps.

Surprised by affordability, industry leading app, easy to use

ActiveCampaign has everything, and I'm not having to workaround missing features. Not every process is as slick as I would like, but that happens with more powerful apps. But I haven't had to wonder whether ActiveCampaign can do anything, because the answer is that it can. Highly recommended. It's worth spending a few bucks more on a system that is here for the long haul and has everything most businesses will need for email marketing.

Pros

I love that ActiveCampaign is fully fleshed out. I use a lot of smaller apps, and there are usually features missing. But I recently started using ActiveCampaign for email automation and campaigns, and it just has everything. And the cost for the core functionality is actually more affordable than I thought it would be. ActiveCampaign is widely known as one of the best email marketing applications, and it is.

Cons

I wish there was a smaller plan for those wanting the full-sized CRM. Right now, the starting price for those wanting the full CRM is a plan with 25 users. I just need a couple. So the price for jumping up to that is a bit steep for a small business.

Great product at a good price

Good experience, support has been helpful when I needed it.

Pros

This product is priced very well compared to other products in this space with similar functionality.

Cons

The WYSIWYG editor can be a little touch and go sometimes. It can throw off formating of your email campaign if you're not careful.

Use for Self and Clients

It is the only tool I recommend to clients.

Pros

I use Active Campaign for myself and for my clients. It's very easy. The learning curve is short. It's also simple to use as far as uploading and sorting lists.

Cons

The builder for the visuals of the email is clunky.

Intuitive and seamless

ActiveCampaign makes my email marketing simpler and as easy as it can be. The dashboard lets me see analytics in one spot and the customer service is very helpful.

Pros

I love how intuitive the setup is- I was an email marketing software newbie and MailChimp drove me batty, so when ActiveCampaign was recommended, I was wary. It has exceeded my expectations and has been a great experience! Even when I can't read the directions correctly and set something up incorrectly, the customer service team is quick to help, and even send a video of what to do in my account so I can just follow the steps.

Cons

I would like extended customer service hours- I do my email marketing at the end of the day and there often isn't a live tech to chat to after 7 pm EST.

Great tool for the value of your money.

Great. I would 100% recommend AC to someone who is getting started in business and wants to implement advanced marketing campaigns. However, once you scale over 50k contacts, I would move out of Active Campaign because of the difficulties to segment contacts and send broadcasts. (AC: you should imitate Ontraport or Influsionsoft for your broadcast segmentation)

Pros

The price point to the functionalities is GREAT! Meaning, if I'm getting started with my business, and I have my budget limited, this is the BEST tool to get started.

Cons

The segmentation to send broadcasts is very confusing and difficult to use. And I'm saying this as a software developer, so I'm very familiar with IF and OR functions, but the user interface, and the display make things very hard to use.

Not Necessarily the best Email Service

My overall thoughts are that while ActiveCampaign isn't the worst option for mass email, there are certainly better ones out there.

Pros

I will start with listing out the few things I do like about Active Campaign. It's not the worst I've seen by any means, but there are much better programs out there that can do much more.

1) The home page is customizable which lets you have the data you need right at your fingertips.

2) The reporting on campaigns is actually really nice and shows you exactly what you need to see.

3) Writing emails is distraction free and lets you do the basic task of writing an email. It doesn't give you a lot of unneeded and unnecessary options.

Cons

Active Campaign has a lot of room for improvement. Maybe it's just me, but I don't enjoy using it when I login. I am left with a clunky user experience and I am just not a fan. It's one of those things thats hard to bring down into words, but I will share what I don't like about it here.

1) It's list centric vs. subscriber centric. ConvertKit is a competitor that uses a subscriber centric model and I think it works much better. The entire point of building an email list is to build relationships with folks, and when you have a list centric email list this function gets more difficult as the same person could be on multiple lists.

2) I don't like the inability to easily see where subscribers are coming from. It takes some digging to find a screen that clearly displays how you are getting subscribers. I feel that this is an oversight as the very first thing I want to see is how I am getting new subscribers. I like to know whats working or not!

3) I don't like that it's not intuitive overall. It feels clunky and not like a new tool. It feels outdated and thus I don't enjoy using it.

Email marketing automation at his best

Pros

This is my favourite application for email marketing automation, as the campaing planning system is so intuitive and easy, that it lets me create new complicated campaign very quickly

Cons

The pricing can become very expensive if you have a lot of contacts, but definitely the quality of the service repays it

Can't speak for users, but for developers using their API. DON'T. JUST DON'T!

Pros

I wish I could say something here, but I really don't have any pros. I'm the developer hooking it up to our app, not the user so maybe the users would have something good to say, but it's a real pain to use their API.

Cons

There API is terrible. V2 is HORRIBLY inconsistent in both values it accepts, and responses that it returns. V3 is pretty barebones at the moment. There's a lot in V2 that hasn't been added to V3 yet. Documentation for V2 is incorrect in a lot of places, so you're left to guessing what values it might take and using trial and error. V3 documentation is better, but again, that API isn't fully fleshed out yet.

Marketing Tool to increase your sales

Pros

Active Campaign is a Marketing tool that lets me do email marketing, automation and contact management. They help with the migration of contacts from your old platform at no cost. What I like about this software is not only its email templates but also its integrated forms that you can customize to collect customer data. Its reporting is advanced compared to other CRM software because of the availability of data from campaigns, automation, and deals that you can analyze to maximize your leads and increase opportunities leading to more sales. It is also a CRM so using another tool for that is not necessary need which simplifies everything giving me more savings.

Cons

It is not that easy to use and you can struggle a bit at first missing some features or function needed to make things more effective.

Not perfect but a decent value for what it does

I've only been on AC for a few months now but so far, I've been reasonably satisfied with what it can do. I think there's still lots of room for improvement and feature upgrades but overall, I've found my email deliverability to be even better than when I was on IS.

Pros

I migrated to AC after using Infusionsoft for over 10 years. None of these apps are 100% perfect but I was surprised how quickly I was able to migrate my funnels/automations to AC.

We migrated away from IS because of the way they treated us as a long-time customer.

I like the templated automations AC has that can get you setup quickly for common, simple automations.

Good volume of integrations and the price for email marketing & marketing automations is pretty good vs other apps on the market that much more expensive. I can do a lot out of the box vs Infusionsoft I had to purchase additional 3rd party integrations/apps to achieve the same results.

Cons

I haven't experienced it myself (yet), but I see a lot of complaints about slow support response which is worrying.

I do find the email editor to be clunky and rather dated compared to Infusionsoft's email builder.

The UI could have better and quicker access to certain sections where it takes a few clicks to get to sections (e.g. takes too many clicks to go and manage tags).

I see a lot of feature requests that are pretty much there for a long time with no real timeline for implementation which is a little worrying.
