Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud does its job in email marketing, it helps you to plan, design, and send out email campaigns, as well as tracking the campaign performance and analytics for improvement purpose.

Cons

The list importing is a bit old fashioned, it takes a lot of time to import a recipient list every time, and you also need to click many times, which I think is not very intuitive and a bit annoying.

Overall an excellent platform for the value.

Pros

I have been extremely happy with the ease of use when creating and tracking the activity of client accounts. I am still working on getting my salesforce admin certification just to ensure that I am using the software to the maximum ability. From what I understand watching the Dreamforce competitions, salesforce offers options which allow for entrepreneurs and business owners to further develop themselves within this ecosystem. Looking forward to further exploring the platform.

Cons

At the moment the only thing I would have a dislike about would be the layout of the tab options, from my understanding lighting experience works with much more ease and I will be learning this part of the platform shortly.

I believe this item will help me in the long run, but it is very frustrating for me to set this up because there has not been enough training provided to me and my team. The capabilites of this product are huge and that was why I purchased the package but it is not the easiest thing to set up especially if you have a previous CRM system your trying to gather information out of and import into salesforce.

Pros

The product has alot to offer but if you don't know what your trying to accomplish, it is very frustrating to set up.

Cons

The set up of this product is not easy if your not well aware of the product beforehand. It is difficult to gather existing information from a previous CRM sytem and import it into Salesforce.

Pros

We had no social media presence before we were introduced to Sales-force . None what so ever . This made it easy to manage set up and use all social marketing available on the internet in one easy location

Cons

The start up cost is quite substantial and I do not know that it was a necessary purchase due to the lack of need in social media presence at this time.

Despite the lack of a free trial, this application has its own potential and that is severely huge. It could be an overkill in features for most of the small business who require promotions via simple email newsletter, but if there are dedicated teams working for this purpose, then this program is a huge asset up in their arsenal.

Complete solution for Email, Mobile and Web marketing. Lots of features to select from and can be expanded by integrating with other Sales force tools. It has a powerful API to support developers further expand its potential. Predictive content, Automation Studio, Custom roles and real time Data Segmentation add up quite a lot to its sleeves.

We love the integration with our current Salesforce Commerce Cloud website and the ability to track everything within and not worry about dozens of different integrations to accomplish the same thing. Because Salesforce is a larger company, you can expect great support, knowledgeable account managers, and constant improvements.
As with any platform, there are things we'd like for it to be able to do, I'm confident that in time, many of those things will become available. And anything that doesn't, we'll continue to use 3rd party integrations.

Pros

As with all things SalesForce you can expect nothing but the top level of customer support and options. We currently run a Salesforce website, so the integration is flawless and easy. There's not much additional setup or any big learning curve to start using it.
The Marketing Cloud is a great way to easily manage our social media accounts, facebook posting, and email automation solutions. Because this platform is integrated with our website, it's still very easy to have outside vendors and software solutions that integrate with it. An example of that is that we still use Mailchimp to help manage our email channel even though the Marketing Cloud offers an email solution as part of their software.

Cons

The main disadvantages of using this software are pretty much the same disadvantages of any of the Salesforce platforms and/or integrations. For the uninitiated those are:
- Some of the most costly software that accomplishes the same tasks as other platforms
- Can be a bit complicated to navigate due to the sheer possibilities + abilities you have using the Salesforce platform.

If you understand both the expenses associated with using Salesforce and have people who can either learn it, or teach it, then i'd say there's no other real disadvantages to using it!

A heavy hitter, but work to be done in UX

Despite being somewhat clumsy in real-world use, Marketing Cloud is a powerful, high quality suite for those looking to pursue robust, personalized digital campaigns.

Pros

This is an outstanding product for 1:1 engagement with an existing audience. We're still somewhat new to it, but are quickly coming up to speed. Best modules are open APIs, Journey Builder (basically pulls the entire suite together to build repeatable workflows), Audience builder (works hand/glove with Journey Builder), and Mobile Studio. It will take time for us to gather enough behavior and other attribute values to really put this to work. But it has plenty of horsepower and data tools and really get us to advanced personalization and performance analysis.

Cons

The suite is a set of modules cobbled together via the original product (ExactTarget) and new apps purchased by SFDC (e.g., Social Studio, which as Radian 6). This makes it cumbersome to assemble an entire campaign because you're constantly pinging back and forth through different modules (via a tabbed interface) to get things done. It's probably too late now for a truly unified, campaign-based UI, so it will have to do.

This software is great for seeing emails that were sent over time ina calendar format. It's also helpful to see some analytics at a glance.

Cons

Sending emails is very tedious. The test emails very rarely look like what you created - there are random lines and font changes, buttons repositioned, etc. which makes it difficult to know whether your email will be correct when it goes out.

My experience is limited to the Radian6 component, but it is quite powerful in terms of what it is able to do in terms of social media listening, and categorization of content. Visualizations of the data are also pretty decent.

Cons

It's expensive for what it is, but still worth a look if affordable (perhaps as part of a package incorporating other parts of Marketing Cloud). It's not the easiest tool to get started with, so it's helpful to have some expert assistance when getting started.

It has basic functions that allow you to send out or schedule massive email campaigns. Other functions include tracking of email campaigns and performance reports.

Cons

I think the email cloud in general is not so intuitive in a way that I need to spend more time with putting together the email campaigns than I should. Like one example, I don't understand why I need to click so many times just to upload a photo, or a subscriber list. It is also quite difficult to manage a subscriber list, so easier to just keep uploading a new one...

Creating newsletters in the Marketing Cloud environment is a frustrating prospect unless you are satisfied with a single column format. If you are looking to create double or triple column styles, you'll need to hire a designer with expertise in HTML, and the company's customer service team does not provide guidance at that level unless you are willing to shell out a LOT more money. We eventually gave up and went with a different software and company.

Pros

Some headway has been made to make the interface easily navigable, but much more needs to be done.

Cons

Difficult to navigate. Hard to get to stored repositories for image insertions. Impossible to get images and text to line up properly in side by side columns. Not enough support form customer service teams.

When you send hundreds of thousands of emails, it seems you're destined to be tied into a system like this. It's very powerful, but it's extremely complex. Even for an experienced email developer, it takes awhile to get used to building triggers and actually sending emails.

The tools keep improving somewhat, but they're still very cumbersome. I wish they would spend more time making things easier and lighter weight instead of complex and bloated.

Pros

Very powerful. Good support.

Cons

Extremely expensive and complicated.

Advice to Others

Make sure to buy a plan that includes technical assistance. If you end up paying for it a la carte later, it's much more pricey.

We have a limited set of tools from Marketing Cloud and are just starting out with it. The new updated Content Builder seems very intuitive and was easy to navigate, even without training. We were able to produce basic emails in a short period of time. With a little practice we were able to begin designing more robust personalized emails. The tracking information was a great step up for us.

We were working with a vendor to implement Marketing Cloud. That didn't go so well so now we are starting from the ground up. Marketing Cloud is very robust in terms of functionality and offers a lot of features, there is lots to learn but after you get past that hurdle you can see the benefits of using Marketing Cloud. Backend functionality could be improved a bit to be on par with Sales Cloud but I'm sure that's to come in future releases (ie permission updates)

Pros

It's great to automate email schedules and have dynamic templates to really customize the user experience.

Cons

It can be very overwhelming at first learning Marketing Cloud as a whole.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud is easy to use and has more capabilities than it's competitors. You can also easily integrate the Marketing Cloud to the Sales or Service Cloud and it has excellent Social Listening tools as well.

Good tool but training has to be done separately or on your own. It's been a little hard to ensure we're using it to its full capability unless we figure it out on our own or hire someone to train us.
