RUN, powered by ADP, is a web-based payroll solution designed for small businesses. The solution can be deployed on either iPhones, iPads or on any touchscreen device. RUN can integrate with multiple third-party accounting software and human resource management services from ADP.

RUN provides cash flow management by allowing users to track and verify cash requirements before processing the actual payouts. With built-in reporting and analytics capabilities, users can monitor and view complete analysis of their monthly payroll activities. The solution also has a dedicated HR portal to keep all critical information at one place with an online storage for saving employee documents. HR411, the online resource from ADP, provides day-to-day best practices for businesses.

RUN also comes with the support of ADP’s payroll tax compliance team with notifications for tax deadlines, changes and new requirements. The team helps to make filings and tax deposits as per the latest regulations of federal, state and local tax authorities.

Great price, very simple and works for SMB. Very simple payroll solution. ADP is great but I would highly recommend upgrading into a system with import/export.

Cons

No import/export function. Really limits who you work with and they use it as a retention tool. Wish they had more integrations.

Overall, we find ADP RUN to be useful and a pretty good value for the money. It saves us time and works as expected 99% of the time with no downtime. ADP has really good customer service and we've enjoyed the integration with the retirement services. RUN is robust and offers a lot of different, useful features.

Pros

We've been using ADP RUN for a few years now and have enjoyed our experience with the system. It makes payroll a breeze and provides our staff members with an easy-to-use timecard and information portal, which allows them to see their pay stubs, W-2s, and retirement balances. Errors within the system are rare, and the ADP customer service team is extremely responsive if any issues do arise. W-2 forms are generated automatically for us to mail out and ADP also helpfully files tax and employment reports, which saves a ton of time. An added bonus is the fact that RUN integrates with ADP's retirement services division, so employees can make changes to their deferral percentages and investment options directly through the Employee Access hub. We've also found the HR411 feature to be useful for basic HR queries, particularly when certain forms are needed. It's a good resource.

Cons

Every so often, the Employee Access hub seems to glitch and prevents some employees from reaching their accounts. I've found that this can sometimes be rectified with a cache clear or even opening the Access portal in a different browser, but overall this is a relatively minor issue and it can be quickly cleared up in most cases. ADP also has a bit of a habit of having random salespeople reach out from time to time to attempt upsells rather than a dedicated account manager (we do have a dedicated manager, but the upsells are usually pitched by others).

Easy to use platform. Little room for Error. Store documents using the doc vault. Gives you exact amount you will need to run payroll.

Cons

Wish the site wouldn't go "down" as much. If this happens be prepared to wait 1.5 hours to speak to someone. Luckily they have a service where you leave your number and they'll call you back. But if your looking to talk to someone immediately, good luck.

The only positive thing I have to say is the customer service is very quick to respond to you and help you over the phone.

Cons

This product is expensive and they charge an extra per check if you need to correct something on payroll. Once submitted there is no way to undo payroll to fix any errors or add in hours.

I am still a fairly new user of run ADP and I know there are features available that have not been enabled. It would be nice if there were a detailed list of features with the descriptions of uses, for everything available with each level of package being used.

Pros

I manage the accounting and payroll for a small business. While I have the ability to process payroll manually, ADP saves a tremendous amount of time that needs to be focused elsewhere. ADP also supports the business whenever any legal issues come up when reporting and/or paying taxes. I was sent an alert that the company's rates were being raised in the state of IL, weeks before it was scheduled to occur. The alert enabled me to dispute the raise in rates and keep the company's tax rates at the lower percentage. It would have been much more difficult and time consuming, had I not had the support of ADP.

Cons

The customer support is lacking. I recently upgraded to include the HR Support add-on because I was supposed to have my 6 free months for joining ADP, was due to start. I ended up not receiving my free months and am still working with the sales rep to have this corrected. Although this is frustrating, the sales rep from ADP did make the time to go over the functions available with the HR add-on, so I can fully utilize all it has to offer.

I used ADP RUN for about 5 years, but we eventually grew out of it and needed to transition to the Workforce Now platform. I had a lot of bad things to say about RUN previously (report capability, customer service, etc), but compared to WFN I know realize RUN was great! It's very user friendly, you don't even have to be a payroll expert to easily use it.

Cons

I'm not a fan of ADP as a company in general. Their customer service is hit or miss, it just depends on who you get on the phone. Some are very knowledgeable, some seem very new or just give contradictory information that you know is incorrect.

I believe RUN is best for small companies, maybe <100 employees. We had a 401(k) functionality come up that RUN couldn't support, but if that hadn't come up we'd still be using RUN happily.

Easy to use and cheap. Great for a basic hris and running various reports. It was a service we needed just for payroll so it did the job but it did not offer anything else. Also the payroll processing function is super easy to navigate.

Cons

They do not provide any training on using the software which I think does them a disservice because people will not use it. I don't know if this is a ploy to get people to upgrade to their more robust platforms but quality customer service should be a given across the board of all their offerings.

I have to say I loved the product but I was never crazy about the customer service. They don't get back to you right away and at the time you are holding the line for a long time. If ADP had a direct contact to call someone when you have a problem I would gibe them 4 stars.

ADP's RUN payroll software is very user-friendly and self-explanatory. It's appropriately priced based on the number of employees you have, so it's affordable for even the smallest of companies and can grow as you grow. It has a great new employee access portal, where employees can see their pay stubs, view tax forms, and change their direct deposit information themselves.

ADP's customer service is hit or miss. With this tool you are not given a dedicated rep, you are at the mercy of their call center. Most reps are very helpful, but I've run into several who are not helpful or knowledgeable.

Cons

Ok if you have a small business of over 50 people this is probably a good solution for you. RUN handles all the details. They have a mobile app for your employees to be able to clock in and out and you can review their hours. They handle quarterly reporting and W2s at the end of the year.

Cons

For small businesses like us, there are more affordable options out there. We have a team of less than 10 and switched to Gusto about 2 years ago.

The hours tracking is kinda silly from an admin point of view. You have to make corrections to time cards on one site and run payroll on a separate site. This is strange since it is the same company. It makes running payroll much more difficult.

Easy access and storage (for pay stubs, W2s, etc.) As stated above, I like that at any time I can put in my password and access information I wouldn't otherwise have on me if it were paper. For example, if I needed to apply for something which requires pay stubs as proof of income, I could access it and print where I am (if printer is available, of course).

Cons

Not having physical papers given causes one to sometimes forge to even check it. I guess this has to do with getting used to a new system. Having HR give us the physical paper forced me to look through the info. With ADP, it can be out of sight out of mind if you're not careful.

This is a super user-friendly way to get online and view bill pay. I am a user and my employer just switched our payroll over to ADP. Its very nice to log in at any time and view payment details, deductions, etc.

Cons

I don't have any complaints about the software. There were some issues with set up at our company and it took everyone a couple days to get fully enrolled, but it works great now that everyone is up and running.

Doing payroll and managing the employees takes little of my time over the month thanks to this app. We also use a physical time clock that feeds the application. I can correct any issues before doing payroll. It also ties into our Xero accounting and puts all the different taxes in the right accounts. Finally, the Doc Vault is a great safe place to store employee documents.

Cons

I have had a few issue with their sales/support person, but since then she has been replaced and service has been good.

Pros

My favorite thing is that I don't have to do anything! They do all the paper work! And all I have to do is put hours in!

Cons

The price may sometimes be a on the higher end of things. Thankfully I got a little discount which I was very happy with!

Quick easy access from anywhere.

Pros

This software is very simple to use. I like that you can login and get the job done in very little time. Processing payroll doesn't create income so it's nice to be able to get it done quickly.

Cons

I wish I could set processing payroll up on auto-process. The less time I have to spend the better it is for me.

It freed up more time to let me concentrate on other aspects of our business.

Pros

Very easy to set up. Very user friendly program and easy to use. Customer service is there to walk you through any issues you might encounter. Nothing I don't like. It all seems pretty straightforward. I don't have any experience with other programs and this seems to work just fine.
