ApplicantStack, is a cloud-based applicant tracking and onboarding solution specifically designed to suit the needs of small and midsize organizations.

Applicant Stack offers tools to help companies generate online employment applications, create and post new open positions, share positions on social media and build screening questionnaires to accompany online applications. As a part of the onboarding module, users can manage new hire paperwork, communications, tasks and employee information in a single place. 

The solution is hosted in the cloud, so there is no need to invest in IT infrastructure or support. ApplicantStack comes standard with customer service and support, both over the phone and via email, at no additional cost. No long-term commitment or contract is required.

If you're debating whether or not you need this type of software, go for it. Instead of piles of paper to sort through, it's all digital. So much more efficient!

Pros

ApplicantStack helps keep all of our applicants organized. It is a huge step up from paper applications. We are able to post to different job boards as often as needed. We also love the onboarding portal; we can send new hires their paperwork online.

Cons

You may need some technical knowledge in order to edit the application yourself, but AppStack has people available to help you make changes if you need assistance.

Cons

They recently changed their user interface and had a really annoying feature where all filters “collapsed” every time you made a selection. We sent a few change requests to their customer service team, and they actually listened! It took about 3.5 months to implement the change, but it’s fixed now and all is right with the world again. It’s nice to see they take change requests seriously and want to improve their product to meet user needs!

Pros

We've been using ApplicantStack for over a year, and it's still a great product! They just did a major update that changed the user interface a bit, and for the most part it was an improvement. Still absolutely amazing for the price - it's based on recruiter/HR/admin users, as opposed to employees or # of applicants like with Taleo or iCims.

Pros

Sometimes the backend is a little clunky. but if you can overcome that, you will be happy with their system.

Setting aside the ability to manage candidates in an efficient manner, I would say I like the support provided by ApplicantStack. I am very particular about ensuring I meet the needs of our team. Customer representative and her team have provided nothing less than excellent support in problem resolution, consideration of new features and overall functionality.

Cons

I would have to say the reporting functionality could be significantly improved. The ability to generate reports that meet the needs of our company is not as intuitive as it could be.

I have used other ATS systems with other companies and found this system to be very simple but with all the right capabilities. I would like to see different seminars such as recruiting laws and how to get better use out of the system based on recruiting requirements.

Pros

Easy to use, easy to train other to use, and very adaptable. Great for companies of any size! I have had no issues using the system or changing it to our specific needs.

Cons

I would like to be able to send an email to my managers with feedback forms so they can fill it out and it will show up in the candidates profile (Much like how I can send an email to the candidate with a questionnaire and it automatically uploads into their candidate profile). Now they have to log in and go to the profile to complete this action.

I have seen significant improvement with HR process using this application. Not only the hiring process, but another HR process including training etc can be managed within this application. Reporting module helps a lot for weekly and monthly data reports. Good App for management.

Pros

I don’t see any problem with functionality or UI. Everything looks great!

Advice to Others

Helpful application for HR department. Can manage a number of tasks on the daily basis. Helps primarily with hiring and other HR needs as well.

Before we looked into getting a different applicant tracking system I found applicant stack to be intuitive and easy to use. Once we started looking into other systems I found applicant stack to be a little behind in terms of capability and functionality. There is similar software that has more capability for a fraction of the cost of applicant stack.

I had no experience with ApplicantStack until my current job in which that was the ATS system used. It was relatively easy to understand and use, however extremely complex to pull data from. There was the normal mass of canned reports and fields for customization, but many times you had to pull separate reports to get the needed information and then manually merge them. They have ways to go to catch up to the competition.

Pros

Easy to use on daily basis
Customer support was relatively responsive.

Cons

Data export/customized reports difficult and cumbersome
Minimal technology advancements.

Advice to Others

If you are on a strict budget it's definitely a workable no frills option.

You can't beat the price for ApplicantStack! They are just as powerful as the other applicant tracking systems, but without the high price tag. Despite the cons I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Pros

They really get to know you, and your business and the needs associated with you and your business. Prompt with email help, they replied within about two hours.

Cons

Not integrated yet with Shibboleth yet, and when you call for phone support you never get anyone, you only get voicemails which is kinda frustrating sometimes.

Advice to Others

They are great for small to large businesses with their powerful tools.

I work with clients to help them with recruiting and other HR needs, and have worked within ApplicantStack through one of my clients. ApplicantStack is a good, simple solution for small businesses.

Pros

I like the ability to create custom work flows as well as candidate scoring and Boolean search options. This system is very efficient for the cost in comparison to other ATS's I've interacted with. I also like that it is easy to show history and communicate through this system.

Cons

As far as I can tell, complete OFCCP compliance either isn't available or is only available with a larger plan. With the smaller plan you only get 1 admin and up to 5 hiring managers, but many small companies can make due with that since you can switch the users as needed.

Advice to Others

When considering ATS's in general, I would always make sure the system has the reporting you may need for compliance. Also, being able to communicate with hiring managers and candidates through the system is very helpful because it keeps all of the documentation in one easy-to-access place.

Ability to pull applicants from multiple job boards. Customization of job postings. Ability to track each applicant in each stage of the hiring process.

Cons

Inability to delete a job posting without viewing every single applicant, even if the job is no longer available. Easier to just leave it out there open, rather than deleting 200 individual applicants.

the software is easy to set up and use - - the listings are easy to create and link to recruitment ads. the company has about 35 employees so we are small. Applicant stack does the job - we have excellent record on hiring from our own efforts verses head hunter.

Cons

Its all great actually -- I do not have any issues or suggestions to change much of anything. I use ApplicantStack for keeping resumes on file - -I review old resumes. It would be easier if all resumes had to be in a word document so I would not need to download - I could just attach file to email if I choose to send candidate an email. Otherwise it is fine the way it is.

I find that the system is fairly easy and intuitive to use. Our new hires enjoy having the capability to fill out their paperwork online.

Cons

I do have some issues with candidates saying they did not get the email from the system with their login information. I would also like to have the ability to reset someone's password for them.

Helps me find applicants for a specific type of work

Pros

Easy to use and can streamline list of applicants for a specific job. Has all the information I need on a particular applicant.

Cons

While looking at information on a applicant if you back space out it takes you to top of list. With possible hundreds of applicants it takes you back to top of list.

I love the changing of stages, and being able to filter that way. I like that we can see the score, but also determine for ourselves the appropriate scoring.

Cons

I don't' know enough about it. I wish I had the time and support with our company to learn more about applicant stack so I could use it more effectively. I wish I could link the scheduling to my outlook calendar and be able to send the applicant a pre-determined note and schedule their interview thru app stack and have it link to my calendar in outlook.

Pros

As an Administrator can efficiently input jobs and manage job listing, Managers have found it advantageous and user friendly, stores data as needed so can be retrieved at a later date.

Cons

When toggling back and forth between the job listing screen to the screen listing candidates who have submitted resumes, when return to the job listing screen it resets itself.

When we went to using an online applicant tracking system we needed something that was affordable for approval from senior leaders. This software did just that. Excellent service, product and was very affordable.

Pros

The cost of the software is very affordable. In other words, you get a lot of bang for your buck! The software is very easy to learn and use.

Cons

We wish it had a few more features. For example, the ability on the application to have a link to open up a dialog box for a statement instead of having it on the application. It makes the application appear very lengthy. I would also like to have a click through application instead of all on one page.

Benefits outweigh the disadvantages. I feel this is a great entry-level software package, great for smaller companies targeting local candidates for general positions. The cost is low in comparison similar products, so there's a good return on investment. Most importantly, it is very user friendly, and gets the job done quickly.

Pros

My experience with this software has been decent. The functionality is pretty straightforward and easy to use. It has multiple options for posting job openings on various job boards, and lets you post in specific locations, general regions, or nationally. The integration features with other applications saves a lot of time as well. I like the option to create personalized applicant screeners to help filter out unqualified candidates. Software can be used as an applicant database to save candidate resumes for future use.

Cons

Interface is very basic, and does not offer many features as the competing services. There is no advanced options when creating job postings which may limit the target audience, especially for more technical positions. It would be nice to have more menus and drop-down features. Also, job board options are limited, so it can be frustrating if there are multiple users.

One central platform to advertise jobs for multiple units.

Pros

We use this as a multi-unit platform for our hotels and Corporate Office. It is reasonably easy to use. Our jobs are sent out to other job boards helping us generate applicants.

Cons

Some restrictions on ease of use. The update that was done a year ago or so was not well received. Several functions are now more difficult to navigate. Please add more job boards (like monster etc.) to increase number of exposures and candidates.

Cons

I wish the Work Flow and Job Flow functions were simpler. Adding stages and setting up some of the backend flows is awfully confusing and I never quite seem to get it to do all that I would like for it to do.

The best part of this software is the link to other job boards. Getting our posting on multiple sites is important and creates more opportunity for qualified applicants to find us.

Cons

I wish there was a little more interactivity with my payroll software. The workflow is also a little clunky, but that is minor thing.

Being able to track a person through the whole process and having one place for all our team to make notes or see the information.

Pros

The biggest pro would be how easy it is to log in. I love that I get an email letting me know that a new application has been submitted and that there is a link right their for me to get to it.

Cons

I don't use this software on a daily basis so sometimes I have to spend a few minutes figuring out, remembering, where certain information is located.

I like the view filters and being able to assign tasks with email reminders as often as needed is really helpful. I also like being able to view history so I don't have to keep track myself of what interactions occurred with the applicant.
