Calamari is a cloud-based human resources solution that offers two best-of-breed modules: leave management and clock in or out services. The software is suitable for small to midsize businesses in any industry and offers Android and iOS mobile apps.

Users seeking a leave management system can use Calamari’s online tool, which automates PTO calculations and offers an absence calendar that integrates with Google Apps, Jira, Slack and more. Calamari allows users to configure different workflows for different types of absences and automatically apply their company’s leave policy.

Calamari’s clock in and out module offers a wide range of clocking methods. Users can click a button in a browser, scan a QR code, type a Slack command or even use iBeacons to automate clocking in based on location arrival. Timesheets can be edited and employees can request changes on their timesheet.

Calamari is available on a per employee per year basis.

The options are very detailed, the helpdesk is quick and efficient; until now, helpdesk always found solutions to our issues.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to configure on your own.
Unfortunately the helpdesk is only available in English, it would great also in French, German, Italian and Spanish.

- It's very easy to integrate it into our current tools.
- Lots of tutorials and guides to help you set up and use the platform correctly.
- The customer support is up there with the best I've ever received. When we experienced an issue, they were quick to respond and delved right into the issue with us to get the bottom of it but to also help us set our company up correctly so as to get the best best from the product. Ewelina was the Calamari team member I dealt with and she really went above and beyond.

Cons

As with any new tool, it does take a little time to familiarise yourself with, but it's laid out very well so you can quickly get used to it.

It's very user friendly. Once you know how the platform works, it's easy to master. Customer Service is helpful and efficient about answering questions in a prompt fashion. Integrations with Slack and Google Calendars are major highlights for our company.

Cons

Some of the text within the platform (FAQS, tutorials, etc.) is not grammatically correct which can be a little confusing - this is obviously because Calamari is based overseas and has been translated into English. A few of the features/enablements are a little hidden within the tool, so it took a few trial/errors to make sure we were maximizing the platform to suit our needs.

Less time spent managing staff holidays! More time to do other things

Pros

Simple to manage and maintain with good API's. It takes no time to manage once configured and users find it simple to request leave.

Cons

Initial config could be a little clearer some of the options can be confusing on first use, that said i dont work in HR so it might be clearer to someone in this role

Solved problem with calculations of remaining leave days per employee. Each employee can access that information, make request, etc. Which is very good for us.

Pros

It has all what we need to support our internal processes related to leave requests. Complex calculations, etc.

Cons

Was a bit difficult to configure. Employees list doesn't have sorting, filtering. Will be good to have at least calendar in mobile app.

Automation of our process. Slack and google calendar integration.

Pros

It is user-friendly and we´ve been receipt a great support. We can download reports by choosing either contractors or employees, which is important for us. We also like the integration with Slack and Google calendar.

In setting up the system, I found complexities in configuring absence types. This is necessary certainly, but complex somehow. Maybe a deep dive on the UX.

Easy to request leaves and keep track of them.

Pros

While trying out different tools, Calamari seemed the most "user-friendly" for smaller companies. What we love the most about the tool is the Slack integration that makes request and approvals super easy. Their support is also fast and very good !

Cons

Setting up or editing a leave category is always a bit tricky for me in the tool, but it's also because there are always special rules applying. Maybe making this part even more user friendly would be good.

Pure market analysis

Pros

Calamari helps my company handle holidays. It allows me to easily control, monitor all absences and what is really helpful helps me to decide if I should accept holiday request, when someone in my team had requested and this request has been already accepted! That is the core functionality for me :)
I really love integrations that Calamari provides me!
At first: GSuite (by Google) - I do not have to worry about creating new accounts and I can see all of absences in my Google Calendar (this is my favorite) .
Another huge integration is with Slack, which is main messenger in my company. I can just accept and decline requests without login in into Calamari!
On the other hand I really like is Calamari support, those guys (especially Hubert) are fast as lightning, very thoughtful, proactive and they for sure will help you configure your instance. Communication with them is pleasure :)

Once Calamari is configured is maintenance-free, and very very comfy!

So logical and easy to use, it's self explanatory, simple to navigate, even as an administrator it's clear how to set up and configure, for our users very little guidance was needed, Calamari speaks for itself! We moved from a spreadsheet system and both managers & their teams appreciate and much prefer being able to see and manage their own leave records. The support team are excellent, attentive, quick to respond and very accommodating. Well done Calamari!!

It's clear and after few minutes you know how to use all features. I like the look of whole app. It's very intuicial and easy to use.

Cons

On mobile app (in browser) you can't see whole week calendar. No other flaws detected. just keep up the good work.

My review pretty much covers it. Resource planning in the Calendar view. Monitoring leave applications and clock in locations. My HR Managers now have confidence in the timesheet information as they can review it in real time and not just at month end.

Pros

We have decentralized operations, and our managers and HR love being able to see presence and location statuses of our employees in real time, and at a high level.
The Calendar function in the leave module allows for great oversight and enables more efficient resource management and allocation.
The time-sheet and leave reports available are robust and we love the download to excel feature, this perfect tabular format allows for deeper dives on trends, pivot tables etc within Excel.
It really is simple to use for employees and managers. The app keeps things simple to enable clocking in/out and applying for leave.
Really just very easy to navigate, after training our managers, no one has had to come back to us on how to navigate the system.
There are several clock in methods which allows for flexibility, eg smartphone clock-in, QR scans, and browser check-ins.
I must also commend the support team for providing excellent back-end support for our administrators! Keep up the great work and service

Cons

A few improvements could be made, such as allowing for attachment uploads from a smartphone for leave applications and for locations to be tagged when clocking in with a QR code.
