We love the fact that it gives both the manager and the staff the flexibility to control their shifts and it gives the employees a sense of ownership - they are almost responsible for their own time management.

Pros

Probably one of the best scheduling/staffing apps out there organizing my company's staffing, scheduling and payroll.The scheduling features, clocking in and out (especially with location services), communication with team capabilities, and overall polished interface are so well thought out and done.

Missing simple additional features and time saving functions

Pros

I have appreciated the customer service and response time with issues that I have run into. I love the 24hr support as well with real-time response.

Cons

can't add 'position' only training which is not an efficient way to schedule multiple employees- you have to go into each profile to access training and you have to click multiple times to get there, the lag time in accurate updating between smartphone and computer. timesheets don't always load on smartphones. Overall WAY TO MANY clicks of the mouse to get to different areas in OIS platform.I would not choose this scheduling software based on my experience thus far, less than impressed compared to other scheduling software.

This software is so simple to use and to read, I schedule people and use it for my own use and deputy makes it so easy to see where everyone is, if someone is ACTUALLY at work when they clock in because of the map feature.

Cons

it would be really good if it could automatically send emailed reminders of up coming shifts to email or something sometimes I don't even get notifications that I have a shift

I was looking for an easy to use and not too expensive scheduling software for the beginning. The more advance programs are great but we would not yet use all the features. After searching I am happy to start using Deputy. Its easy to log in. Overview is great. Information can be put in so easily. It has everything we need for the start to organize everybody.

This makes my job duties with HR so much easier! I have many more responsibilities than just HR and this definitely cuts back on my time spent entering employee hours by hand and processing schedules, etc. This allows my employees more control and keeps them more accountable for their own time, PTO requests and changing of schedules!

Pros

All very easy to set up and integrates well with my payroll software. Also has a message board that is seen by all employees which makes it easy to send information and receive confirmation that everyone has read it.

Cons

Sometimes requires too many approvals.

Advice to Others

I love the ease and flexibility of scheduling teams. It's easy to make changes if you have to. I really love that employees can clock in from any location and their geographic location is tracked.

Cons

The setup can be lengthy if you have a lot of locations. Entering the information can take a lot of time. The good part is their customer service is excellent. One of the managers uploading the information for me, on a Sunday afternoon!

Cut costs as found out false timesheets.

Pros

Easy to use, simple and aesthetically pleasing. Good customer service and can be integrated with accounts packages.

Cons

It was not able to adjust to our company needs, was not suitable for employees away from the depot, always had to be connected to the internet.

Cleaner and more productive interaction between our staff team

Pros

We moved from revel to deputy and found it far more advanced that revel. Interaction between users is easy and the interface is awesome.

Cons

For us it crashed a couple of times but that might just have been our connection as it could be sporadic. Some of the functionality also caused some of our staff some issues when using.

Ease of use, instant notification of shifts and changes, great organization of availability and cross reference between departments.

Pros

Ease of use & live on the go updates, being able to change and request shifts as needed. Simple availability and leave requests for staff.

Cons

Doesn't recommend staff best suited to shifts, still have to do rosters. Would love to be able to rank employee's in sections and have a roster automatically suggested.

Already explained. This is redundant

Pros

Easy to use, integrates easily with Gusto our payroll app. Love the News Feed for reaching out and connecting with our team. Support is easy and very helpful.

Cons

Would like to load schedule and have a button that says copy ahead XX weeks. Would like comments to be easier - a pop up when data is entered by the employee on the administrator's screen would be nice.

the Contact feature. I can select the employee and then contact them directly as needed. Great for multiple facility use.

Cons

I want ability to post numerous amounts of same shift repeatedly in a few steps, not having to copy and paste for each day, maybe I can choose shifts to copy as well as multiple days of the week.

Very functional. I can schedule everyone, see an entire month or just one week if I prefer as well as export time sheets.

Cons

small learning curve, takes a bit to get all setup but there are some good tutorials and customer service is very willing to help.

Ease of use, easy set up, great support staff, and the reporting module. I tried out over fifteen competitive scheduling services, and none of them compare to Deputy .

Cons

I wish that I could create a more traditional 30 day view for staff. While the mobile app is great, and it lets my staff know their schedule, they have no way to look and see the overall schedule for their department / area / location. The software allows me to let them see who is working, but the way I can customize employee schedule views is very limited.

It's very intuitive, everything is laid out in an easy to use format and the fact that it's so mobile, I can control it all from my iPhone, makes doing things on the go so simple!

Save time and money on administering payroll and chasing up employees timesheets etc and ease of planning forward rosters and staffing spends.

Pros

We save loads of time and money on payroll by using Deputy. Payroll is cut down to a couple of clicks instead of hours of chasing up timesheets etc. All our managers love the software as it's super easy to use and easy to plan prospective staff spend. Communication is pretty good also with the notifications and staff having to confirm receipt of notifications. Swapping shifts is also great. Overall an excellent program that has saved us a lot of time and headache.

Cons

We have multiple locations in each state that share staff, sometimes it can be a bit tricky to keep on top of the different locations that one staff member might work across.

The mobile app is easy to use but doesn't have the functionality of the full app such as offering staff an open shift etc.

easy to use, all information in one place. best feature is to see the cost of wages as a percentage of sales - really helps keep things in perspective when rostering. love that I can add specific information about a day - such as public holiday, local event etc.
