Time Tracking In Less Time!

Homebase is by far one of the easiest solutions for employee scheduling. Coupled with the fact you can try it out for free to see how you feel about it before investing any money into it, makes it a no-brainer to at least give it a go if you are looking for a better solution than pen, paper and hoping folks show up on time. While the initial setup can take some time if you have a large employee base, the time saved going forward with scheduling and time tracking easily makes up for the initial time investment for setup.

Pros

This system make scheduling and tracking employee hours a breeze. The simplified dashboard makes it easy to ensure the schedule meets all of our demands, and allows employees to quickly see when they are scheduled to work. The fact I can access it from anywhere helps for when I am away from the business.

Cons

Initial setup can be a little time consuming, especially if you have a large employee base. This makes the upfront commitment a little tough, however it'll easily pay off in the time savings you get after that.

Won't give you legal compliance

Specifically, the Homebase system would eliminate any timecard edits that I made. For example, if an employee forgot to clock back in from lunch, I would make the entry for them to give them the correct number of hours, but would discover later that my correction disappeared. The edit log showed where I made the change, but also shows the Homebase system changing it back. It's a good thing I only have a staff of 10, otherwise I maybe wouldn't have caught this happening during the time I used the system. It happened frequently and Homebase was never able to fix it. When I pointed out that this does not allow me to stay legally compliant by having accurate timecards and paying employees correctly, they only apologized and said the engineers hadn't figured out why it happens and that there was no timeframe in which to get it corrected!

Pros

It was easy to use and simple to figure out

Cons

Felt like it was still in beta testing mode. Issues that were brought up were not fixed.

DO NOT upload your employees until ready to go live 100%

Ultimately had to cancel the account because of the amount of messages employees were receiving.

Pros

The pricing and features cannot be beat when comparing similar products. For a cloud based system, it does everything you need it to do.

Cons

I bulk uploaded all of my employees and made sure to uncheck the "Invite employees to Homebase" so that I could upload my employees and then go add in their schedules before they were added to the platform. What I learned from their customer service is that IF you upload email and phone number, those employees are opted in for text messaging EVEN though they don't have an account and so they cannot opt in or opt out of the messages.

HomeBase is the best timeclock we've used

Pros

We've gone through a lot of time clock software, but HomeBase is by far the easiest to use. A simple, easy interface with plenty of features.

Cons

It took a while for some of our office staff to use it, but, after you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing.

Great system for employee time tracking.

Great experience! US-based representative whom were very kind, understanding and WILLING AND READY to resolve any and all issues when I needed to call to resolve the only issue I’ve ever had.

Pros

Homebase is extremely easy to set up employee time clock which happens to be free if your business has a single location and with a single location you may set it up for unlimited employees. For a small business owner where every dollar and cent matters, it’s a no brainer. A business owner may assign or allow the employee to set up their clock in and out code. Also, it may be set to take a photo of the employee during the clock in and out sessions to help or eliminate other employees from clocking in and out for them. Homebase offers an iPad, iPhone and an android app. You may also use your device's browser. We downloaded the app, installed it on an iPad for our employees to clock in and out on. The administrator has 100% access via web browser login. There’s also a feature which allows employees to clock in and out in the field which would geo-tag the location of the clocking activities.

Cons

Not a lot a negative things to say. This software is best if you have multiple employees who may have a staggered schedule. Example: an employee opens, then you have a mid day shift, then a closer. You also have many employees that may be out in the field. geo-tag is not the best choice for a single entrepreneur who’s trying to track their time, set up easier ways to do so.

All-in-One, Perfect If you have remote workers

Pros

Scheduling is a breeze with Homebase. I have spent less time working on schedules. What's more, Homebase has the functionality of adjusting time cards and easily accessible from my iPhone as well. You can manage wages, time off requests, and check availability of employees.

Cons

The mobile app is buggy as it would shut down or freeze

Homebase is ok

It was pretty easy to use and pretty functional.

Pros

Homebase was used to help my coworkers and I know when we worked along with approximate money made and hours worked. I liked that it showed you the amount of hours you worked. It was easy to clock in and clock out.

Cons

The app often glitched for my coworkers and I. It would completely not work sometimes.

Really convenient for employers and employees

Super easy to use and maintain for employees and employers alike, with lots of features that make work schedules (known to be a hassle) much simpler to tackle.

Pros

The accessibility to Homebase is super appealing. Being able to log online and view schedules and request for time off is one thing, but being able to easily access it all on your phone is entirely another. The color scheme and design make it pleasant to look at as well. It's pretty simple to view a schedule, request time off, or trade shifts with other employees as long as you've communicated with them outside of the app. Being able to sync it with your calendar and have it send push notification reminders helps, too.

Cons

The biggest downside is mainly just a small gripe. Occasionally, when I was either looking at the schedule, the names would appear out of order or it wouldn't update to the most current week. Or when you would request time off, it wouldn't select the day you selected, going back to the default and causing the need to fill out the request all over again.

Functional - Does What We Need It to Do

Pros

I like:
-Being able to see when I'm working and when all of my colleagues are working.
-Messaging inside the app for staff notes, etc.

Cons

I least like:
-The fact that the app tells me I didn't work shifts, when I definitely did. If you don't use it for clock in/clock out, it tells you that you didn't work.
-The "request off" functionality is pretty clunky. It takes a lot of steps to make a request.

Finally! A online scheduler that easy to use!

This scheduler (and more) has been a huge time + business saver. You can schedule and have your staff clock in with ease.

Pros

Definitely ease of use! We have tried at least 2 prior to Homebase and they were too cumbersome to use and were ultimately ditched. Once we tried HB, everyone was able to figure out the app and can easily enter their availability. You assign staff based on their availability (or actually unavailability by day down to the hours) and staff can swap shifts if needed. You can message your team by email or the instant messenger to individuals or group. This is only the tip of the iceberg! There's team building features, sales, tip-out, time clock, 3rd party app plug-ins, reporting and so much more! This has everything already figured out! You just have to explore all the features and functions. Priced per location, but very reasonably priced that is scalable to your growing business.

Cons

Nothing we can think of except they have job market feature which allows you to post your job (to whom?). This is probably still in development and we tried it once and gotten inquiries from random job seekers from another country. Perhaps geolocation and category filters would help provide more suitable applicants.

Very Confusing Setup and Onboarding

Ok, debating whether to switch solutions.

Pros

Homebase is a nice app for timekeeping and timecards, and the paid versions appear to make group schedule management a lot simpler. Also, the free account communicates with my payroll service - which was the main appeal for me as a user and continues to support me in persevering.

Cons

As a user whose employees are not scheduled, but bill for hours as they need to, it was not terribly simple to manage that. Particularly, I made employee accounts and invited them and then when my staff followed the prompt it created a duplicate account in Homebase. That was frustrating. Additionally, once a staff submitted their hours there was no apparent way to modify their entry themselves from the iOS app. The software isn't terribly intuitive - especially as you travel through different levels of the menu (on the management side at least)

Difficult to Use, Unintuitive

When I am able to chat with the support team, they are wonderful and very responsive. My frustration comes from how unintuitive and not customizeable the system is.

Pros

Helps us keep time sheets in a central place and publish schedule changes. I like the scheduling feature, although I don't like that the employee order cannot change with each new week. I would also like to view the shift notes with my schedule and/or the option to print with shift notes.

Cons

Difficult to use and totally unintuitive. I'm very tech savvy and find the UX awful. I've had to message the support team frequently to solve the most simple of issues. Lots of bugs in the app and online software that don't seem to be getting fixed. My staff are pretty frustrated with the difficulties using the mobile app.

Cons

Almost Intuitive Time Tracking

Pros

It does a good job aggregating data about the work you did that week, like total hours and how much money you made.

Cons

It has an issue with the times it shows you, so sometimes it says it's an hour ahead of what it really is. Not to worry, at least it still tracks to correct amount of hours.
