Pros:

I like homebase because I can switch shifts with co workers and get it approved by a manager without having to text a bunch of different people

Cons:

I don't like how slow it is when refreshing the page to see if you got a reply to your request some times have to repeat

Neat simple app for all that we need!

We were customers a few years ago, before they did payroll, so we tried another system that was complex and confusing. Once they added payroll for nonprofits, we signed up again and are happy we did!

Pros:

It's very simple and user-friendly. It does payroll, time tracking and scheduling all in one place. Previously, we had to use two separate apps to get all these features.

Cons:

it doesn't connect with our small proprietary POS system for sales numbers, but that's not a big deal for us. They did mess up on our taxes and owe us for taxes they paid in error. It's taking a long time for them to respond to that.

Reasons for switching to Homebase

Paylocity was to complex and hard to understand. Gusto didn't have time tracking and scheduling at the time.

A user friendly yet customizable one-stop shop for managing employees and teams

An excellent experience overall as the software is so user friendly yet offers a lot of advanced features and customization. If you are lucky to have two employers both using Homebase, schedule management along with tracking earnings, team messages, etc. is effortless because you can have multiple teams on the same app that you can toggle between.

Pros:

The most beneficial feature of Homebase for me now is the ease of managing multiple schedules if multiple employers are using the app as you can easily toggle back and forth between teams. It also remains incredibly versatile for scheduling, clocking in for shifts, managing hours and adjusting work hours, as well as communicating across the team/management. I also like that you can keep track of hours and anticipated earnings to ensure hours are clocked in accurately and earnings are also computed accurately. The fact that it can be accessed on a mobile device and mobile device can be used to clock-in is extra convenient too.

Cons:

Notifications not coming through consistently remains an issue periodically but has significantly reduced compared to before. The only other issue is that the clocking in feature on a mobile device can be a little inconsistent and not always work.

I really like how easy Homebase makes scheduling and tracking time. It’s simple to set up shifts, and everyone can clock in or check their schedule right from their phone. The mobile app keeps everything in one place, and the fact that there’s a free plan made it perfect for small teams just getting started.

Cons:

The mobile app can be a bit glitchy or slow at times, and more useful features are only available on the paid plans. So while the free version is great for basics, you might need to upgrade as your team grows.

Reasons for choosing Homebase

For me, Homebase feels like the better choice because it’s simple, affordable, and easy to use right away. It covers everything I actually need, like scheduling, time tracking, and team communication, but without all the extra complexity that comes with larger WFM systems. If I ever ran a much bigger operation with multiple locations and more advanced reporting needs, I might consider a full WFM platform, but for a small, hands-on team like mine, Homebase just makes day-to-day management smoother and less stressful.

More good things, than bad, overall a great way to keep track of your hours, especially for works that need to clock in on the road, and you need to have a precise location for the clock ins.

Great app to keep track of time, it integrates GPS which allows for precise location. It includes some functions to allow to communicate with your team, this is great when you need to coordinate work. It is very easy to use and intuitive, it does take a little setup, but once you have it set, it is very easy to use. It predicts your pay, and offers some options to get an advance on your paycheck.

Cons:

sometimes this can freeze and crash, it has happened a couple of times. Customer support might take a while to answer, and is not always as accurate.

Good for basics but not advanced software

It was over priced and hard to get to work correctly. Support staff just had the same answer when there were errors which is required staff to redownload the app if they weren't getting notifications.

It was easy to use and navigate the app. It allowed me to easily schedule my employees and alert them of any changes to their or the whole team’s schedule.i also liked that it includes the employee’s location at the time of clocking in.

Cons:

The free basic access does not allow you to do simple things like clock in, which is why I downloaded it in the first place.

Great for Small Businesses Looking to Stay Organized

Overall, I’ve had a pretty positive experience with Homebase. It’s made things like scheduling employees, tracking hours, and keeping up with team communication a lot easier because everything is in one place. It’s simple enough for both managers and staff to use without much training, and it has definitely cut down on a lot of the back-and-forth that used to come with managing schedules. There are occasional small glitches or syncing issues, but nothing that has seriously disrupted how we use it day to day.

In terms of value, I think Homebase offers a lot for the price, especially for small businesses. It’s nice having scheduling, time tracking, messaging, and payroll-related tools all bundled together instead of having to juggle multiple apps. Customer support has been helpful when I’ve reached out, although sometimes it does take a bit longer to get a response depending on how busy they are.

Cons:

It’s not perfect. I’ve run into a few minor bugs and occasional delays with syncing, which can be frustrating when things are time-sensitive. Some of the reporting and customization options also feel a bit limited if you need something more advanced. Even so, overall it’s been a reliable tool that makes managing a team a lot less stressful.

It was a great platform when I was using it, it was great for time-tracking and the customer support team were really helpful as well. I have used that for a year before moving over to a more suitable platform. Again great for startups especially if you are new to time-tracking platforms.

I liked the fact that you can schedule your timing and tasks on homebase. Its ease of use is straight forwards as well. It is also value for money especially if you are a startup business with 1-2 people. you can start by using the free plan before investing in the paid version.

Cons:

The paid version had the things i needed which i wish were available on the free plan. So scheduling time off, it is something i needed but.

As the IT Admin at a busy coffee shop, I've evaluated and implemented dozens of tools over the years to keep our POS running smoothly, staff managed efficiently, and labor costs under control. Homebase integrated with our Clover POS has been one of the best additions we've made. It seamlessly extends Clover's strengths without forcing us to rip and replace anything.

Cons:

The free tier covers most of what we need (time clock + basic scheduling). Paid plans unlock deeper payroll and HR features, but even the basics deliver massive ROI for Clover users. Occasional minor sync hiccups during high-traffic updates, but support responds quickly.
