I think enrolling in benefits is a breeze, but continuing to use the site can be a bore. Don't really use it for much else

Hard to find things, there should be more categories than "me, company, hr home" . Why can't we upload SPDs for each benefit? that's like a whole separate process to know what benefits I even have.

It would be nice if the modules were better integrated. Also, occasionally names of long-terminated employees show up on current date reports. For example on "assign performance reviews" list you get every employee ever on payroll, not just current employees. I don't need to evaluate someone who is terminated so it would be nice if there name was left off.

Pros

If there is a problem customer support is available for help. They payroll processing is quick and accurate.

Cons

We have several of their modules. There is a different contact for each - Payroll, Time, HR, ACA, Open Enrollment. And within each of these there is turnover so you may have several different contacts in an area in a year. It is hard to keep track of "who's on first."

We have an extremely complicated payroll system and Paycor has reduced our payroll processing time from two to three days to less then a single day. The system is doing much more then we initially hoped and so far very happy with going with Paycor.

Pros

Implementation was made easy and went smoothly, like the look and feel of the software, customer service is outstanding whenever there are issues, like how things flow in the system from HR to payroll seamlessly.

Cons

This system did cost the most of the other solutions we looked at but we felt the value was worth the increase in cost. They do have reminders built into the system but would have liked the reminder time frame to be longer then 30 days.

They are withdrawing more than they should for fees and promise to correct but never do and now charging late fees because of their error. No one will call back. Can't reach by phone. They email and say problem corrected and it never is.

All I can say is keep up the good work.

Pros

I've been in my position processing payroll with Paycor for 5 1/2 years. It gets easier and simpler to use all the time. The continual improvement and upgrades, especially to Paycor Perform, never cease to impress me. Not to mention, knowledgeable help is always available when necessary. Setting up a new employee is a breeze. Entering our bi-weekly payroll is not all that time consuming. Running reports is an added bonus.

Cons

Can't think of a thing. I have nothing negative to say about Paycor Perform. I've seen a lot of change for the good.

The implementation team doesn't understand their own product. It has been 6 months and we still have major issues. The responsiveness and customer service is terrible. They do not follow up even after admitting it is Paycors fault. Would never ever recommend this. Is a HR nightmare.

Processing payroll is easy to manage, we navigate the system pretty well. There are times when we run into issues but we work through it. The Time piece has not been right from day. the benefits are a mess plan are wrong no carrier connect has been hard to complete. Everything requires spreadsheets after spreadsheets. The PTO and vacation in time is a mess. No tracking, We were told you could mirror our old system and that has not been delivered.

Cons

Support is very poor, there is never enough help available unless our support techs are free. Most times we are connected to support says we have to wait until our specialist are free to help. That can take hours.

It is unfortunate this experience. I worked with Paycor in the past and prior to 2009 and this experience has taken me from liking the software and service to not recommending it to anyone I know that needs HR/Payroll software.

Pros

Based upon the experience, the pros are difficult to list. The experience was not positive to determine if the software was good or bad or if the lack of knowledge from the service was the main culprit for determining a good quality product and/or service.

Cons

Cons is that the system is very disconnected and not as flexible as we would like. Unfortunately during the implementation which I was not a part of was done extremely poorly. Parts of your team did not understand the system well which created many issues. The communication from service was terrible, no leadership to accomplish or understand the system and functions on the system.

My experience with the product has been good on and off. I do enjoy some features provided, but also wish more features were more developed.

Cons

I don't like how employees can not request time off without the use of PTO, even in the time keeping attendance. The performance entity is horrible. No customization capabilities, no budget settings and it has to be the same for every department across the board. HR and payroll do not do a great job talking with each other.
I would also like to see more customization on the on-boarding or being able to post forms that are convertible into fillable forms.

This system is difficult to use and is plagued with programming errors. Edits change data on subsequent lines. Cannot seem to edit data from reasonable human error. Defaults are irrational.
i.e. 8:00 punch in followed by 2:00 punch out will default to 2 AM punch out crediting 18 hours of pay.

Too many surprises

This product has many features that are fantastic, but as a new user (less than a year), I am still surprised on a regular basis by what it cannot do. There are many basic features that are illogical. New Hire documents can be uploaded to a library and included in the New Hire Onboarding process. Fantastic! There is no way to control the order in which the New Hire reviews those documents. New Hires onboard using their personal email address because they don't have a work email yet. Later, during a Benefit Open Enrollment, notifications can't be directed to their work emails but goes to their personal email address. A New Hire becomes active as soon as they complete the onboarding process, not on their Hire date. We found that out by paying a New Hire early. The custom template of instructions for Benefit Onboarding can't be saved; it has to be entered every time an Event is created. We have also had great difficulty with support. Lots of "We're sorry" and "You were dropped through the cracks". We have also been told, more than once, that it is our responsibility to make sure something is working the way it should. As a new user, we can't know what we don't know! Paycor isn't ready for prime time with this.

Pros

Payroll, Benefits and HR are connected and changes in any field updates across the modules (assuming it has been set up correctly). Employees can update much of their personal and payroll information themselves, saving the Administrator time. Onboarding of a New Hire works very well and not having all that paperwork in a file is terrific. If you get support rep on the phone, they are fantastic to help.

Cons

Paycor frequently directs the user to their Knowledge Base, which is extensive. So extensive that it's nearly impossible to sort through it looking for an answer to the question at hand. The reporting feature is the same way. Hard to find what you need and tough to create what you need. Their support is less than impressive. Implementation was not well directed, mistakes were made by Paycor and by us due to lack of guidance from Paycor. Once active, support has been inconsistent. We are frequently surprised to find what should be a simple task is not even possible. Implementation of improvements is slow to appear. The parts that work well are impressive, but overall we have been less than pleased and very frustrated.

I tested this software as a substitute of Paychex. Paycor provides integrations with 401(k) providers that ensure employees’ deductions are properly sent to the provider. It streamlines the process and allows employers the opportunity to choose the provider that will give the best plan to their employees. They also empower employees and managers to maintain their personal and team information from anywhere with an internet connection. Each team member will have a login that will allow them to make their own elections creating an easier, paperless, open enrollment process

Pros

Paycor’s Applicant Tracking Solution allows its users to post jobs, review resumes and approve or deny hiring within one application. Workflows send notifications to recruiters, hiring managers, and even candidates. It paints a picture of where every candidate is within the hiring process. It also provides analytics to help get rid of bottlenecks within each hiring step.

Cons

Paycor does not help manage HIPAA Compliance, Recruitment, and State Unemployment Insurance as a part of their human resource database. They also have a limited benefits packages when compared to their competitors. They only cover 401k and Medical Insurance while leaving off other vital plan options like Dependent Audit, FSA, HRA, Life Insurance, Premium Only Plan, SIMPLE IRA… etc.

Paycor Needs Streamlining/Newton ROCKS!

We have been using Paycor for about a year now. The ease of use is okay, but the product needs streamlining. All functional areas have limitations and feature enhancements are slow in coming.

Pros

NEWTON (applicant tracking) rocks! Newton is definitely the best feature of Paycor by far! Newton is an extremely state of the art product and feature enhancements happen constantly to keep up with the demands of hiring.

Cons

No geo fencing
No workforce scheduling
Time and attendance is very manual, often times quirky and labor intensive but not all bad once all the data entry is done!
PTO is shown in different ways in different areas of the product, needs to be more consistent as it gets confusing seeing different PTO amounts.
Supervisors don't get consistent PTO notifications via email
Need to enter same info in multiple areas which gets tedious and time consuming.
Reporting is doable, but clunky as is FMLA tracking
Implementation was driven on a schedule basis vs the implementers understanding the needs of the business
Limitations are acknowledged by product reps, but feature enhancements are slow to happen.
Reps don't "own" their customers, they are very transactional so building a relationship is hard.

Advice to Others

Paycor is a solid basic product for smaller companies, but needs streamlining and product/feature changes need to happen faster like they do on the Newton side. Newton is definitely worth your while!

Easy to use, easy for employees, Great -the best customer service! Payroll time was cut in half

I like that you could add comments and the company would look into it and then at upgrade time if it was possible would add the capability.

Cons

The only thing I did not like was that when you did a benefits enrollment it did not notify you that the employee was finished or had completed their enrollment. However, I believe it might be something they were working on.

I just discovered that they've released a new way for me to manage assets and safety issues with my employees. This will make it so much easier than the paper forms I was previously completing and scanning and uploading as simply documents in an employee's file. Compared to our previous HR software, this is 100x better. It has everything I need.

We have raised several issues and had a number of questions over the past year that have not always been quickly addressed. In one case, after providing a certain guarantee that a function was turned "off" we discovered, almost too late, it was never switched off.

Pros

The basic payroll software works fine. The problems arise when you try and use modules, such as the ability to transition data by a spreadsheet onto the Paycor platform.

The modules do not work as cleanly as represented.

We are very frustrated with Perform Time. I feel like the support we received for something was forced upon was terrible. I asked two weeks ago to speak to a manager regarding my experience and was told it is a busy time of the year and they would get back to me. We have had some glimmers of hope when we are lucky enough to talk with someone other than our client service rep. He tries but he doesn't get it. This system is supposed to be new and improved and we can't do some of the basic things we could do before. I am very disappointed on how this was rolled out and the support.

Our monthly payroll takes me about 1 minute, it is so very easy and the pay is always in our accounts on the date we set up. Without question it is worth it. I no longer have to fill out and send in our quarterly taxes, it's a win win for me!

I'm not enrolled in it. Very little was explained when it became available. I have never used a spending account for paying for health costs. I keep getting emails about it, do I have to use it. I am finding this very annoying.

my facility uses PayCor for its payroll and employee benefits. It is easy to use and so convenient. I have no complaints and when I have had questions in the past, the questions have been answered promptly either online or through our HR director.

There is always room for improvement but Paycor does a good job of what it is designed to do. There are times when it takes quite some time to log in, up to a minute or two, before I can clock in.

This system is easy to use and easy to understand. It is quick and easy to request days off or enter sick time. It is also nice having the employee evaluations so they can be read at a convenient time.
