Zenefits Software


Zenefits is a cloud-based human resources information system (HRIS) that features user dashboards, core human resources, benefits administration, onboarding and employee scheduling.

When new employees are hired, HR professionals using Zenefits only need to complete five online fields to begin the onboarding process. Employees sign all agreements online, and Zenefits can automatically process their information. When employees leave, HR can remove them from payroll and benefits and initiate COBRA setup with a single process. Zenefit also offers an employee self-service portal.

Zenefits can integrate with payroll, health insurance and other systems, and users can also set up new payroll, insurance, retirement plans and more. Zenefits has a development team that makes weekly changes based on user feedback. They also have a team of in-house HR, payroll and insurance specialists to answer questions via phone or email. Zenefits also provides mandatory services which must be purchased with the software.

Makes HR easier on a one HR Manager company

Customer support has greatly improved in the last two years as it seems they have found their niche in being an HR platform and not a benefits engine. They have a great culture and it shows in their product, which is inspiring

Pros

Interface is simple to navigate and find what you are looking for.

Cons

Reporting features could be improved- it is something I see Zenefits working on, but I still end up having to massage the reports in excel to get what I need.

Onboarding Made Simple

I've used Zenefits as a new employee to get on-boarded, sign all my HR paperwork, and enroll in benefits.

Pros

Zenefits made the onboarding process at my new job extremely simple. I was able to sign all my paperwork and upload necessary documents online, before my first day of work, saving me time and letting me jump right in. Health benefits enrollment was quick and understandable. The platform is intuitive and looks clean.

Cons

My paycheck actually came through a different service (View My Paycheck), which is fine but a little annoying. It'd be nice if my paystubs were also accessible on Zenefits so everything was just in one place.

Love the Interface

Pros

I absolutely love the interface and the ease of use in the navigation. If there is something specific I am looking for (like a document) I can always find it easily because of the layout.

Cons

The most difficult part of this software is the time-off calculations. It is somewhat confusing and the data doesn't always seem to line up, so determining how much time off you have used or have left is always a numbers game

Excellent software - easy to navigate

I would definitly reccomend Zenefits to any start up company or a company with a need for HR and benefit enrollment.

Pros

The navigation on this website and enrolling in the offered insurance through my company was easy and effective.

Cons

Had some issues logging in the first time but after that there was no problem at all.

Great HR resource

Pros

I have worked for a few different startup and smb companies. Those that have used zenefits are always easier to track benefits than those that haven't used it. I like the interface, options and usability with zenefits. I have even used it to clock in and out and track time for employees and liked how it works for that too.

Cons

It doesn't do it all. You will likely need other tools to work with zenefits to achieve all of your HR needs if you are smaller company.

Poor Implementation and departments do not talk to eachother.

Unstable software that lacks proper support and onboarding. Payroll is especially bad. Information that we enter is incorrect on Zenefits end and then they tell us it is an error that our company made. We would love it if this software worked as promised.

Great Product, move out of the way other company

LOVE ZENEFITS!

Pros

The program keeps evolving into a better and better product. They have already blasted past all expectations. There is no one in the range of Zenefits that for the price can add the start up tech. The on boarding and work flow and data space is amazing.

Cons

Since they are always trying and adding new items, they are not perfect but never put us at a hardship just need a tweaking.

Zenefits is easy to use whether you're a manager or regular employee.

I use Zenefits as both a Manager and Employee. Switching between the two is seamless.

Pros

What I love most about Zenefits is how easy it is to access information.

Cons

I honestly don't think there is anything bad about zenefits. I have never come across an easier and more intuitive employee dashboard.

Disappointing and fraught with customer service issues.

Our implementation experience was god awful, We were told that the payroll functionality would do something that it can't, and the overall customer service has been fast in response, but poor in quality.

Pros

Slick and clean look. Great google suite integration. Loads of interaction (though many can only handle simple processes). Very good hiring process and HR management functionality.

Cons

Implementation process & limited payroll functionality. Very, very, poor communication between departments - everyone has a different view on similar processes.

Excellent HR Tool To Cover Your Most Valuable Assets

Pros

Let's face it, our employees are our most valuable assets. Ensuring that they are taken care of with the appropriate affordable health insurance ensures not only their well being, but the overall health of your company!

Cons

At times we had questions come up due to some of the negative publicity Zenefits received by the media. This is something we are unable to control. Otherwise a great HR partner!

Great for Small Businesses

Great! I love the ease of use. I also like that they have many oppourtuntity to learn more about the software and other HR topics through training sessions and seminars.

Pros

I liked how user-friendly the software is to use. When onboarding new staff, the Zenefits software walks the new hire through all of the steps in an easy and intuative way. It also cuts down on the amount of emails and calls it takes to hire remote staff. I also like that it is a more secure way for remote hires to share sensative information like banking and soical securtiy numbers.

Cons

The software isn't compatable with our payroll or insurance benefits. It would be nice to have all of that in one place but that is not possible for us right now.

User friendly HR software

Pros

Easy to set up and integrate with third party add-ons.
Easy for staff to customize their information.
Easy set-up for employee details and pay.
Ability to track PTO.

Cons

There are no cons at this time. It's a simple HR service that allows you to track PTO, benefits, etc. There is no option for payroll at this time.

Loved Zenefits!

Pros

Zenefits feels very basic, and by that I mean it's easy to get to everything you need as a user. It has so much capability, from payroll to health care to even storing documents.

Cons

Customer Support was fast, but didn't explain problems well enough in some cases. I'd say their support was average.

Great Customer Service

Customer service is by far the best I've dealt with. Chat and phone calls are answered quickly and efficiently

Pros

The set up is similar to an iphone with the different apps. It's very clean and consistent throughout.

Cons

The org chart is not as functional on the mobile app as it is on the desktop

Zenefits Rocks!

Overall, Zenefits has been good for us mainly with the benefits administration. We have enjoyed getting good rates and our employees like the user friendly benefits open enrollment process.

Pros

I like Zenefits because it is an HRIS system and benefits portal all in one. Zenefits makes it very easy to manage our employees and manage their benefits enrollment. We also love that Zenefits help with the third party Combra Complete to help with Cobra coverage.

Cons

It would be nice if Zenefits had a little more features to aid in employee training and more user friendly reports.

Zenefits has simplified vacation and insurance for me and helped me understand all of it like I never have before.

Pros

With a solution like Zenefits, I have managed to reduce the HR budget year-over-year while going 100% paperless. The integration with our applicant tracking system allows me to push data seamlessly from my mobile device directly to Zenefits to extend an offer, wherever, whenever. I am no longer chained to the constraints of my desk, which is critical for an HR team of one.

Easily the most comprehensive solution in the market (at this price point) that addresses onboarding/offboarding, automated and customized email triggers to employees, time and attendance, insurance, aca compliance, reporting (standard and custom) and a multitude of integrations. Since becoming a client over 2 years ago, I have gone to market year-over-year, and haven't found a solution that is comparable. Zenefits kills the busy work and allows me to dedicate time to our employees and driving meaningful initiatives, restructuring the experience with HR to being a partnership versus an administrative burden.

Cons

I wish the performance management module was baked into the subscription versus an add-on cost.

The transition to a new brokerage, OneDigital, has come with its challenges, but I appreciate that the leadership teams both with Zenefits and OneDigital have been willing to personally speak with me to determine how gaps can be bridged to improve my experience as the employer.

Zenefits Review

Customer service has been great so far, which is always helpful. The person who sold me on the software was very knowledgeable and wonderful to work with.

Pros

Ease of use and pricing are great! I looked at several other companies, and this was the best value in terms of product and cost.

Cons

Setup was a little lengthy. In the future it would be great if there were a checklist in one place where I could see how I’m doing in terms of setup completion.
