ZipRecruiter provides an integrated social recruiting component that helps post jobs on social networks such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. This solution is suitable for businesses of all sizes.

ZipRecruiter allows multi-city job postings for broad exposure of job advertisements. Candidate screening is done through online interviews. The system offers brandable job pages, and multiple users can be added to a single account, so team members can collaborate on rating candidates.

ZipRecruiter has a nice database of candidates that is relatively easy to search. They provide no shortage of candidates as well applying for positions. It is a good site for posting and praying or if you have open parameters for filling a position.

Cons

Most of the candidates that apply for jobs are not qualified for the position they are applying for. The way ZipRecruiter lets candidates build a resume' is very basic and the system allows candidates to apply for jobs without really even sharing any relevant credentials. The functionality of ZipRecruiter is extremely limited when it comes to compliance and reporting for Affirmative Action Employers.

ZipRecruiter is pretty easy to use and conveniently sends your job post to multiple job boards. Upkeep of job posts and checking on applicants is also very easy to use.

Cons

Unfortunately the subscription was out of our budget and we were only able to use this for a short time. The quality of candidates we received for jobs was increased, but not for the price we would have to pay monthly.

The website is very easy to understand, the learning curve is very low and overall the tool is quite powerful.

Cons

It's good to use if you are recruiting low level positions (administration, etc) but NOT good for recruiting IT professionals which is what we were looking at it for.

It's cheap and allows hiring managers and internal recruiters to quickly share the workload related to screening and onboarding. Really like the quick, but very useful emails, with the resume attached. Great for sitting at the airport and reviewing resumes. The custom tags are very useful.

The UI doesn't allow much personalization. I only care about a couple job postings, and everything from my company is loaded in, without the ability to save custom views and dashboards. Also would really like a high level dashboard with key metrics (new applicants, total unreviewed applicants, number of thumbs up/flat/down, ALL PER POSITION, or FOR ONLY THE POSITIONS I CARE ABOUT)

Recommendations

Constantly hone in your JD's based on the candidates you get. Sometimes I am getting too technical resources, so I tweak it, and get too junior resources, and keep adjusting your JD's

Fairly frequently receive phone calls trying to upsell me to additional products. Sometimes the UI is a bit clunky/slow to load.

ZR does a good job at posting to a large number of job sites.

Likes Least

ZR is not as strong when it comes to being able to search applicants. Once candidates are hidden, it is very hard to search. I wish there was more ability to pipeline, customize workflows, and move candidates from one job to another.

Recommendations

It it a good tool for the cost to get applicants in. There is not much customization or strong ATS capabilities, but it is strong for the cost.

UI was very easy to use, got plenty of responses to jobs I posted, some decent candidates. Short trial period meant I wasn't able to fulfill any roles, not their fault per se. When I contacted them about my account being charged, they promptly refunded my money.

Cons

Horrible, horrible transparency. I signed up for the free trial and couldn't even figure out how long their free trial period was until after I talked to their agent. Turns out it's only 4 days. That's just short enough to be totally useless.

Worse part is they weren't very clear about when my account would be charged. Turns out, they charge you on the 4th day of the trial, so if you call on the 4th day to cancel, your account would have rolled over to paid account. Their customer service was nice enough to refund me though, just the lack of transparency left a sour taste.

ZipRecruiter has an excellent note taking ability. It timestamps each note on the candiates, which makes it very easy to track. The ability to send emails individually or in a group worked seamlessly, which I truly enjoyed.

Cons

I never seemed to get the best candidates for my industry. I mostly recruit for Customer Service and Sales, and I seemed to get applicants who were overqualified, or underqualified. My hires were the lowest from ZipRecruiter. That being said, in different industries it probably works much better.

My wallet was significantly lighter after they took my money, lied to me, and offered a terrible product in return.

Cons

Everyone of the 10 candidates I got had NO experience in the industry and were applying for a SENIOR LEADERSHIP position. I was so disappointed, but I signed up for a 30 free trial and I thought I would give them time to make it work, until I saw a charge on my card! I called them to complain and they told me that there was never a 30 free trial, not only that, they told me that I needed to put more qualifications to LIMIT my posting! Not only was that INSANE and ILLOGICAL they had the gall to tell me what I need in an applicant. I told them that I was 100% dissatisfied with their service, their customer service and their dishonest advertising. They told me that they would not refund me the fee they charged without my consent. Furthermore, they tried to sell me again on their worthless service. I am so upset with their services I will no longer listen to the podcasts that they sponsor .

Zip recruiter pushes your job posting to many other job sites on the internet. I was surprised to see all the platforms where our job posting was listed. My favorite feature is the ability to set minimum qualifications which automatically pre-screen applicants. It saved me a lot of time because I did not have to review resumes where candidates did not meet the minimum qualifications. I could also easily identify which candidates I wanted to interview.

Cons

The initial set up time to schedule the job posting took longer than other sites but mostly because I was using the specialized filter features.

Cons

The jobs can sometimes be unrelated to what I'm looking for, but again it's really based on my search criteria. I'm mainly interested in biotech jobs, but sometimes they'll give me jobs in IT or tech.

Pros

Very easy to use and produces results. Integrated applicant tracking, rating, and contact log. Reasonably priced when compared to other recruiting apps.

Cons

Seems to produce best results in larger markets and doesn't always seem to reach down into areas with smaller populations. Some advertising that was previously free is now a paid add-on. Guaranteed posting views are expensive.

I find that ZIp Recruiter is an amazing tool. Even when you are using a trial it gets you the numbers of applicants that you are looking for that meet my requirements. I love the fact that after setting up a trial that i recieved a call from a sales agent almost right away... but....

Cons

For some reason, not everyone in the sales team knew that I was called and still attempting to find out if the service was worth the cost or not. When I say that I received calls from almost the entire sales team I did. I took the time out of busy schedule and spoke to each and everyone of them and the focus of the call was clear. That they were wanting me to pay for a month and that the product that I picked ( which was the cheapest) was not the correct one that I need to upgrade to the highest package. I explained each and every time that I understand that you feel that way .. but I have to make sure that the product is worth that price tag. That didn't hinder them, and a few had the balls to get upset with me like.. I should know who they are and they are the best. hmm mmm at that point I no longer wanted to partner or use a company that was more worried about meeting their quota then if I as a customer is happy with the product or service.

Cons

The resume search feature is horrible!!!

Pricing just raised significantly from $999 (10 ads) for a year to approximately $4200 for a year! Tremendous increase!

Many candidates and candidate leads, as well as ease of software. Ziprecruiter is particularly useful for souring lower-level candidates.

Pros

The software is incredibly easy to use, regardless of your computer skills. It's very easy to plug information into associated fields, and make all information as clear-cut and presentable as possible.

Cons

The software allows candidates to apply to roles too easily. With the one-click apply, we find that many candidates, who have no skills whatsoever for particular jobs, apply for roles that they shouldn't be. This is a major time constraint as we spend excessive time sorting through countless resumes that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Everything. I have told ZipRecruiter for over 4 months to cancel my account and STOP CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD. Every time I speak to a customer service representative they tell me they have cancelled my account and I will not be charged anymore but when I look at my bank account every month they continue to charge me. Their customer service team is literally non-existent now. It states you can call Monday-Friday anywhere from 6AM-6PM but when you call it now states "email us at support.ziprecruiter.com and we will respond asap". Worst experience I have ever had. There is no option on their website to take your credit card off either......

ZipRecruiter is a terrific product for large corporations, in that it allows you to post a job to multiple sites with the click of a button at a very low cost. But unfortunately, it's not great for my particular niche market - so I eventually canceled my subscription.

I initially signed up for the product as it would enable me to post jobs on Indeed.com at no extra cost. When Indeed.com severed the relationship (to increase direct revenue to their site, the product was no longer a good fit for me. Plus, only 1 out of a 100+ resumes were a fit for the jobs that I was posting - so I found myself taking too much time reviewing inappropriate resumes.

Pros

This is a good product for a corporation that has dozens of different types of jobs that need filling.
It is easy to use and low-priced.

Cons

It does not pre-qualify candidates so you can get 100+ inappropriate resumes for a position, which slows you down.

It does not work with 2 major job sites, Indeed.com & Dice. Plus, it doesn't work with small niche market job posting sites that I use.

Advice to Others

Not at this time.

Cross-posting to a hundred job boards is their selling point but your job postings lose "visibility" like Craigslist. You don't need to cross-post jobs to a hundred job boards to get the needed results. Almost every job board aggregates their listings into one service and we all know who that is. Is aggregating your listings into one not adequate? It is.

Pros

UI is a bit easier to use

Cons

Aggressive up-selling of upgrades.
Results are not satisfactory.
Job postings lose visibility.
Expensive.

Advice to Others

We get better results from competitors. Their pricing is the lowest.
