ActiveCampaign is an integrated marketing and customer relationship management (CRM) suite with a foundation in email marketing. Targeted towards small-to-midsize businesses, the software is designed to help organizations build their contact lists, create professional emails, manage campaigns, track customer behavior and measure their marketing campaign performance.

ActiveCampaign’s email marketing and marketing automation applications include drag-and-drop email design, lead capture forms, social integration and tracking, lead segmentation, website tracking and email campaign reporting. While ActiveCampaign integrates with several leading third-party CRM solutions, it also offers its own sales force automation (SFA) features, including contact management, drag-and-drop deal tracking, pipeline management and lead scoring.

ActiveCampaign offers free customer service, including live chat and phone support, a self-help knowledge base and complementary data migration from other programs. It also offers one-on-one consulting, expedited support and free custom design services for enterprise customers.

I highly recommend ActiveCampaign for all kind of businesses

I use AC since 2015 and we use it for our business newsletters and automated replies if someone requests further information. We use the "Lite" plan.

Pros

AC is not only a email marketing software, but also a powerful marketing automation software. And if you want to, then also your CRM and Messaging plattform. In comparison to other platforms and with the stability and functionality in mind, AC is the best solution out there. I like how everything fits together and the team is there to help you and get you started. Even complex automation processes can be set up in an intuituve way.

Cons

Nothing. We are happy with AC from end to end.

Great software with everything you ever need in a CRM

Pros

We primarily got activecampaign to be able to setup an email activity based campaign and were successfully able to setup a few and got great results.

Activecampaign is one of the few cost-effective options and packs a lot of features in its starter plan.

Cons

It is a little tricky to setup a workflow campaign as there is less help while setting it up. They have great guides that cover everything, although not much help while you are actually setting up the campaign.

I had a bad run with the customer support. Spent around 30 minutes on call explaining why my list is legitimiate and no help on how to setup my campaign.

Truly marketing automation

Pros

Marketing automation work flows builder is powerfull. eMail marketing and campaing manager is very usefull.

Cons

I miss more reporting data. Also SMS marketing campaign manager is lak of configuration option, like sender data, etc.

Great for small businesses

Email delivery issues are being solved with ActiveCampaign.

Pros

If you have a small business, this is great. It's pretty similar to Mailchimp. It's integration is helpful and A/B testing.

Cons

I don't like the pricing. If money is an issue, you may want to try a cheaper option.

Great start to the platform, though progress is to be made

Overall, we had unrealistic expectations of the CMR capabilities, but I am confident we will use once tracking functionality is finalized. I am happy with the email design functionality and ability to create automations.

Pros

I love the ease of use, especially within the email designer. Automations within this platform are much easier that I've experienced in 3 other competotirs.

Intended interoperability between CRM and email platform will work well.

Cons

There is some progress to be made. They are missing a crucial component of being able to track each individual email sent within the CRM, such as within Pipedrive. I know they are actively working on their IMAPing, but it is not yet complete.

Also, I would appreciate the ability to be able to organize email campaigns into folders.

love it love it love it

I love active campaign. I found it when i first started out and was looking for something that had lots of features that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Active Campaign was there and i still use them today.

Pros

The customer service is amazing. I love all of the features for the price as well.

If you're not ready for full-on marketing integration like Salesforce, it's worth checking out.

We've been integrating AC into our marketing process for the past 6-9 months. We're pretty much fully integrated at this point, but we're still not sure we're going to stick with it, as big of a headache as it would be to pack up shop and move somewhere else.

Pros

We were looking for a platform that we could tie via API to our app and the other tools in our marketing stack, to handle marketing automation and email blasts, as well as functioning as a CRM. It's a pretty saturated market, but AC stood out because it did most of what we thought we wanted to do, without the intense commitment of Salesforce or full-on Hubspot integration. For the most part, it's done what we wanted it to do with some minor hiccups. Customer service has been great.

Cons

- Most tools like this are built to integrate with other existing tools (shopify carts, wordpress pages, etc). Our app (site) is custom built, so we haven't been able to realize the full power we wanted (no customized abandoned shopping cart emails, etc).
- AC is going up against competitors that do a really good job at UX/UI and general design. I'd put them in the middle of the pack in this regard. It's frequently not very intuitive--it often requires more clicks than should be necessary, or dumps you on a page without an indication of what to do next, or links away from the page you're on without an easy way to get back, etc.
- We've had a few bugs that customer service has been helpful with, but have still left us wondering if we made the right decision.

Great way to keep track of customer data

Pros

I like that you can file your customer data on ActiveCampaign and link your email to it, so every email between you and the customer is recorded and logged in one place. ActiveCampaign makes it easy to see where the customer is in the sales process and this is flexible to suit your business' requirements.

Cons

ActiveCampaign is a very useful tool, but it can take a little time to get used to.

Nice For The Price

Pros

ActiveCampaign is a lot more comprehensive than other budget friendly marketing automation softwares we evaluated. Customer support is always very helpful and willing to coach us through problems. I think customer support would be the most valuable part of AC.

Cons

It can be clunky to use, there is not a lot of fluidity between features in the platform. Once something is completed it's often difficult to go back and edit. While this can be frustrating I still enjoy using the platform compared to other competitors.

I like what this software has to offer, and it's suited for developing/growing businesses very well.

Pros

Very robust software with lots of features and options for businesses. The templates, automations and sequencing is easy to follow and laid out nicely

Fantastic, Active Campaign was easy to set up and get rolling and has helped us follow up with contacts and improve our retention rates

Best Email Marketing software out there!

Pros

It is way more user friendly than other email marketing platforms I have used. It is very easy to edit text and change the layout of the emails. The deliverability of the emails is very high too!

Cons

Price is the only issue that I have seen. It isn't bad but it is definitely on the higher end but it is a higher quality product.

Overall, ActiveCampaign is a great, affordable, user-friendly software!

Pros

ActiveCampaign is really easy to use, not matter what your technology skill level might be. They make it easy to customize emails/eNewlsetters and have easy-to-use tracking features as well. Very measurable!

Cons

I have had very few issues with these projects but the one issue I did have took a very long time for their customer service to figure out how to fix. However, once they found a solution it was easily put into place!

I love the automation you can create within the software. The automation map is so useful and I love the visual aspect of it. All of the integrations ActiveCampaign has is super nice as well.

Cons

I'm a believer in ActiveCampaign!

I'm a newbie, but so far, I really like what I see. I've had a great experience with the customer service team who is helping to onboard me, and am learning more and more about the features each day. It's a really comprehensive software, and by the time I'm done, I expect my email marketing to be performing like a well oiled machine. Next stop, E-mail automation! Choo Choo!

Pros

I recently converted to ActiveCampaign and so far my favorite feature is having all of my contacts in one list, grouped and sortable by tags, as opposed to having 10 different email lists. The ability to store and add information to each contacts profile is also allowing me to create a database of my subscribers and keep better analytics of their behavior.

Cons

The back end is not as pretty and straightforward as some simpler alternatives, but what you are able to gain in terms of user data and integrations is worth it. Just requires a bit more effort to learn how to utilize the full scope of the platforms functionality.
