I use this for work newsletters.

Pros

Mailchimp is a great way to send emails out to large audiences. You can break it down into different groups, choose what email you use to send it from, and what email receives replies. The design element is easy to use and feels clean and modern. You can also import/export email lists.

Cons

The design element has a bit of a learning curve if you want to do more than just the basics. Also, occasionally the emails are sent to a spam folder.

Pros

Offers a wide selection of templates to streamline your marketing effort, shortening time of creating professional emails. Ability to customize with your own wording, slogans, and assets, etc. Also offers a free plan, which is great for those wanting to try before buy.
Ability to schedule emails as well as the ease of adding a new contact to an existing list - those things are pretty user friendly

Cons

Terminology and user interface is a little clunky - seems like a lot of clicks to get to things that should be one click... not super intuitive
Very expensive when you're increasing the database

This is a basic email autoresponder not an automated marketing manager or CRM. Like any software product it doesn't do what it is not designed to do. What it does, it does very well and it's one of my top-contenders for an entry-level email automation.

Pros

MailChimp is easy to use, has good deliverability; offers good-looking pre-designed templates; good reporting and basic list segmentation features. Paid versions offer automated sequences and it's a quality, affordable option. I really like their controls on importing lists because it forces business owners to ensure that they have agreement to receive marketing.

Cons

It gets expensive compared to other options when you have a large list (over 3000) and it does have limitations if you are trying to use it as your CRM (which it's not designed for, but many business owners try to use if for this). The biggest relevant negative is it's lack of flexibility.

Pros

It's great for starters and is free for 2000 subscribers, A/B testing is good but can be really better.
I love that I was able to configure MailChimp to read my blogs RSS feed and just send out emails every time I post a blog entry.

Cons

Although template making is a breeze with the tools provided already by Mailchimp, there seems to be limitations to the tools for design creativity.
The problem comes you want to take your business to the next level, then you will fell the need for a change and for an upgrade to a really professional program.

Value for Money

This is a great online tool, and the pros far outweigh the cons. The emails look stunning, and it doesn't take a genius to set it up!

Pros

MailChimp is really easy to use and integrates well with website plugins such as Gravity Forms in Wordpress, making adding to lists very easy. Another amazing feature is the ability to schedule emails, and also make email timelines based on different conditions, like, a week after someone signs up, it will send one email template, then the next month another etc. It makes building a marketing campaign very easy! There's also a lot of customizing that can be done within the emails themselves, even adding HTML code!

Cons

It is definitely expensive once you start getting into the thousands of subscribers, so as a non-profit we have to find a balance between price and effectiveness. As well as that, when sharing youtube videos embedded into the video, I don't like that it includes another large attachment in the bottom of the email. It really throws off the design.

This is a great option if your budget for this type of tool is zero.

Pros

MailChimp offers a completely free version which allows you to test and determine if their software is the right fit for you. The layout of the admin site is clean and easy to navigate if you understand the vocabulary.

Cons

The terminology of the features of the software are different than other autoresponder companies and were confusing to myself who had experience with another companies' product. At the time I used MailChimp the integrations for WordPress were not friendly and required complicated plugins and codes to use. This could be different now.

MailChimp is great to get started with, especially for a small organization. However, it takes a little time to really learn how to do what you want with it, and slow internet can make it almost unusable.

Pros

MailChimp has helped our small org. create professional looking emails, and a clean mailing list of correct addresses for people who want to receive information from us. There are many helpful metrics to analyze the success of your email campaigns, such as number of opens and clicks. It's great that they offer the platform for free to small organizations like ours. MailChimp offers integration with hundreds of useful apps. They also send us informative emails customized to what you are working on.

Cons

When the internet is slow, functionality really decreases and it can be difficult to format emails. While there are many helpful resources on the platform, it can be hard to find what you are looking for. Similarly, while there are many helpful emails, direct interaction with customer support are not offered, at least for the free version. I was surprised that there was a learning curve for using MailChimp, since it appears to be so intuitive.

MailChimp is a great tool for small businesses!

Using MailChimp has allowed me to automate most of the administrative work that goes with my nutrition coaching business. It has definitely been a time saver!

Pros

I love that emails can easily be scheduled in advance and that you can copy campaigns to use again later. As a nutrition coach, I utilize MailChimp with a different approach that most. I have a template "client map" that outlines communications between me and my clients for a year. It includes healthy habits sent each week, kudos emails, rate step-down reminders, anniversary notes, and encouragement emails. Using Mailchimp, I'm able to schedule out the entire client map fairly easily so I can put those "touches" on autopilot so that my time is spent more on the coaching side of my business instead of the administrative end.

Cons

The process of scheduling the campaigns is a bit cumbersome. I'd like for it to be more streamlined - perhaps the ability to set defaults as to sender or subject line instead of having to type them for each client. But, again, I am utilizing this software in a manner in which I'm sure it wasn't created to be used.

I love this programme! It was introduced to me by a friend and then I showed it to a lot of missionaries needing to send professional looking newsletter's to their sponsors. It's a really useful tool!

Pros

It's super easy to use and offers design advice to someone who would usually not be as visually savvy. You can use previous templates to show continuity and optional facebook tags at the bottom of your letters, make it easy for your followers to keep track of you.

Cons

It can get a little confusing if you aren't fully aware of the programme so having someone useful or searching for helpful tips online can really help.

Pros

I used to use another email company and was leery of jumping ship. Once I started using MailChimp, I haven't looked back. It is so easy to create mail campaigns, edit/create templates, track recipient behavior, set up scheduling, see email results, and it integrates into a vast number of other products. I HIGHLY recommend this product to my clients. I like being able to schedule a series of automated emails. The ability to test a subject line, from name, content and send time is a great tool. I have been using MailChimp for about five years and will continue to use it for my clients and recommend it to as many people as I can. It just makes sending emails that look good so much easier and it integrates into websites with ease. Support is always great and helpful.

Cons

It would be nice to have access to My Library from the home screen so I can add or remove images or files without having to go into a campaign or ad. If this functionality was added, I would be ecstatic.

The first choice in mailing software.

Pros

Simplicity for your small business with full functionality of a major list management package. Lots of integrations with Zapier and most common business apps. Doesn't overwhelm at first so for a small simple operation like ours (route mailings) this was perfect and as we have grown our customer base and types of mailings.

Cons

Some of the lists and features are nestled in weird places. Customers on multiple lists could have been better explained so you don't accidentally "blacklist" someone by moving them to a list they didn't sign up for.

Mailchimp is a great place to store contacts all in one place and send detailed, specific messages or general updates to just a few people or a crowd. It's great for branding consistency as well.

Pros

It's very intuitive and easy to use! I love that you can easily create multiple lists, groups within the list and format your newsletter as you wish.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints. If I had to pick, I would say that I have continued to receive "campaign sent" confirmation emails for an organization I am no longer part of and the new admin for that organization has not been able to get mailchimp to fix this.

Mailchimp takes a lot of the guesswork out of email newsletters, which can be a huge pain to create otherwise. It manages lists and subscribes/unsubscribes so you don't have to. And it's an industry leader so pretty much every web platform has custom integrations.

Cons

Some of Mailchimp's own free templates have display issues on a few email clients (if you test them out of the box with a service like Email on Acid). And if you want a deeper level of customization, it can be a pain to work with. Using your own hand-coded templates (even with Mailchimp template tags) means you are foregoing some of Mailchimp's best features.

Free bulk email service to up to 2000 users.

Pros

I like the same thing that we all do - it¿s free to send email to up to 2000 subscribers. And it is a brilliant brand, the marketing is awesome.
It has capabilities to integrate with Facebook, donor CRM, and many other partners. Easy to subscribe and people are familiar with it.
I use for personal email list - it¿s free and good enough - but I switched my business list to another service

Cons

Note: I have been using the free version, can¿t comment on different features that may be available with paid upgrades.

1. The never ending warning that my pictures will explode inboxes. Autoresize would be amazing.
2. Clunky design process at best (I¿m using on African internet, and it can take an hour or two to put something together on mail chimp that I could do in 10 min in a computer design program.
3. The side screen pop-up window for editing is not efficient - why not a real wsywyg editor?
4. The real reason I switched to another program for my business is list import permission that prevented me from importing my list. I get the impression that the strict list permissions are for mail-chimp protection, not for the client/recipient as I did not have this issue when switching to a paid service with another company (and I have around a 60% open rate for this list - it¿s very credible).

MailChimp is a much easier way to send emails to a mailing list and track the effectiveness of your email campaigns.

Pros

Very easy to use! As simple as drag and drop for adding components to your email. I also love how MailChimp keeps all of my mailing lists so organized. I use a lot of logos and graphics and they are all stored in my MailChimp account, rather than have to search my computer each time. That saves time!

Cons

Wish there were more fonts and creative editing tools. For example, it would be nice if there were multiple buttons to choose from. I am also always having to look up an RGB to Hex color converter, so it would be nice if that was built into MailChimp. I have large lists and send emails in batches but it will not let you send in more than 26 batches.

Pros

I love the ease of building campaigns. We send out newsletters, updates to sponsors, news items, and more, and Mail Chimp handles it all well. We have nearly 5,000 contacts and have found that Mail Chimp is very cost effective as well; it is one of the reasons that we recently switched to it. The organization and features that it offers are hard to beat.

Cons

One con is that once a contact is deleted, it can be really hard to add them back into the system. For instance, we have had a contact unsubscribe from our email list and then want to rejoin later. There are blocks on the system that are a little bit difficult to get around.

I was on the free version, so I couldn't send out automated emails - this was what caused me to switch to MailerLite.

It takes a load off of the marketing aspect of running a web store so that you can focus more on customer service and customer acquisitions! Helps boost sales.

Pros

Offers a wide selection of templates to streamline your marketing effort, shortening time of creating professional emails. Ability to customize with your own wording, slogans, and assets, etc. Also offers a free plan, which is great for those wanting to try before buy. Also taps into Facebook, Google, and Instagram ads to integrate onto those platforms.

Cons

There's not much bad I can say about Mailchimp. It gets the job done. Prices for the premium features could be a little cheaper though.

Pros

ability to schedule emails as well as the ease of adding a new contact to an existing list - those things are pretty user friendly

Cons

terminology and user interface is a little clunky - seems like a lot of clicks to get to things that should be one click... not super intuitive... and I am a seasoned CMS user (15+ years)

Ability to send group emails is a huge benefit!

Pros

I like the ease of creating new campaigns each year. The editing features are easy to use. I also like the sense of humor on the website.

Cons

I don't like that I can't delete a cleaned subscriber from the list. I really can't think of anything else that is a con.

Pros

I love how much content you can create from the free account. Everything I need comes with the free program. That is so wonderful. And when I grow my business I'll be happy to pay once i need the paid subscription.

Cons

I find it a little difficult to create mail campains. It's a little confusing how to it all the pieces together. Also, people have been double subscribing so that's irritating.

The benefits of knowing how it works, and learn I should never use it again.

Pros

Cheap for the free version
User friendly (if you have some knowledge in emailing, otherwise it's not that easy)
A lot of integration

Cons

Very expensive when you're increasing the database
Can't reach the support, like, never
Poor at giving real advice
Often goes to spam
