Excellent software

Pros

MailChimp is a super easy to use, teach yourself, email marketing platform which saves donor and contact names and schedules when and who you want to address. For young and small organizations it is an excellent software and a great step toward creating a database.

Cons

While MailChimp is free for up to I believe 12,000 emails a month and 2000 contacts it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that software like Constant Contact might provide. It is however an excellent first step into the email marketing for any young business or non-profit.

If your business model requires e-mail marketing, this product is worth investing into.

Pros

They offer options for high volume clients as well as clients with lower volume. The services ranges from free to pay as you go. Fantastic interface, clean and easy to use. Their reporting is also great, tells you anything and everything you want to know about your clients and marketing. Automatic response is strong.

Cons

It can get a little bit pricey for high volume service. Could add some more advanced automation options.

The free plan is pretty fantastic in and of itself, but as your business and needs grow, the paid plans offer even more.

I think you get what you pay for. However, it just never worked for me. I got very little response. I'm trying other options now.

Pros

Simple to access templates, and easy set up. I found the overall appearance of the final products fair. I think overall you get what you pay for.

Cons

Steep price climb for one plan to the next. The ability to upload and edit pictures was an issue and caused a bit of frustration. End product looks fairly generic. I personally got feedback from people close to me that at quick glance they thought it was generic marketing and just deleted it.

Pros

The templates within MailChimp are decent looking and easy to use. The entire platform is user friendly, and I like that there is a free version for small email jobs.

Cons

Getting your email to look just right will require custom coding. Sending rules are very strict, so you'll need to verify email addresses before sending or risk not being allowed to send more.

MailChimp - So Easy a Monkey Can Do It

Value for Money

Overall, I love it. Ease of use is wonderful. The feature set is packed. You get tons of free emails and once you're ready to start spending money, the pricing model is still affordable. You really do get a lot of bang for your buck with MailChimp.

Pros

MailChimp is my hero. Their Freemium model is the first thing that attracted me to them. The ease of use is what kept me coming back. ICANN compliance is so easy when you're using their platform. Campaigns are easy to set up, send out, A/B test, and repeat. For a small business, MailChimp really offered everything we needed to stay in contact with our customers.

Cons

For what we used, there weren't any. I never had a campaign type that I couldn't use MailChimp to handle. I suppose for larger customers there may be some of those types of issues, but I'm not familiar with any.

Quick & Dirty Newsletters in No Time

Ease-of-use

Adding an element of a tool like Respondable to analyze the likelihood of someone taking action would take things to the next level. More templated emails to really plug content into, while keeping the design integrity would help smaller marketers get that sexy email look that small brands are also striving for.

Pros

Account setup and on-boarding is relatively quick and doesn't require a lot of advanced tech knowledge. Drag & drop email builder is a dream for getting newsletters together quickly. It advises you when your images are too large and will likely blow up an inbox and helps with optimizing. Database management, grouping and segmenting contacts is easy. Free version is pretty full-featured for the basic marketer. Zapier and CRM integrations make growing your audience a breeze. Reporting is clear and concise--doesn't get too deep into the weeds.

Cons

Image editor is slow and breaks on occasion. Creating the super-cool, slick emails still requires someone to code in my opinion. Reporting doesn't offer a lot of insights on how to improve or leverage your best-performing content for growth.

MailChimp is good for starters

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

MailChimp is good for marketing departments that lack a marketing automation function. With very little training, a user can get fully functional on MC and run basic campaigns, create and store content.

Pros

Ease of creating campaigns is a definite plus, as is the campaign history log. Digital asset storage though limited, is good for basic campaign creation and storage of assets. Lists are easy to build and edit. Our HR people could create and maintain lists and content for corporate messaging.

Cons

Responder list suppression is weak but ok. Biggest con is the mandatory double opt in procedure. This becomes a real problem with leads obtained from shows and events. Related to this is the lack of a 'kiosk mode' that enables collecting leads at shows and events. At this writing MailChimp has no solution to this problem, an admitted shortcoming. Their upgraded version offers limited marketing automation functions, however, the automation workflows are so limited that they offer little advantage over basic outbound email functionality.

In general it's the go to tool when starting any business but you will probably move on as your customer base grows and you require something more sophisticated

Pros

Easy to use and great for anyone starting out. The pricing model scales as your business does so there is no huge cost outlay to begin with. Mailchimp have added considerable functionality over the last few years that give so many automation that competes with enterprise level priced models.

Cons

Lacks some clever if/then type triggers that other competitors have. If you want a sophisticated CRM tool it doesn't get there and you will need to build your own integration or look to migrate.

Fantastic, life-saving product! I love it!

Pros

I was in search for a professional, easy-to-use platform to send out email marketing newsletters, product guides, etc. to a large customer base. I needed the software to be simple to use, didn't require much training for various team members to work with, and still had a professional touch to it. MailChimp was our answer. It has been a life-saving product for our business - and we love it! Not only are our customers seeing emails at regular intervals (the scheduled email feature is helpful here), we also feel confident about the emails we are sending to our customers - consistent and professional.

Cons

If you are an email marketer and have had experience using other email marketing platforms previous to using MailChimp, you may find MailChimp's unique "language" somewhat challenging to wrap your head around to begin with. It is designed to make it easier to use by using everyday language you or I would use in a conversation together. It can also be challenging if you are trying to dig up a very specific piece of data - MailChimp's defaults can be frustrating to work around. It is designed for a beginner marketer.

It works as a virtual megaphone for our business, as well as several side projects I have... it screams so loud, that it can't be ignored. MailChimp generates sales, builds customer loyalty and it's fun to use. I even love teaching it to people that haven't used it before. The most frequently heard comment when doing so is; "Wow, that's easy."

I love MailChimp. When email takes the next step of evolution, they will be leading every small business in America and Europe to better engagement and marketing. They stand alone. Did I mention that I love MailChimp?

Pros

The easy, breezy, drag-n-drop design, as well as the list management and scheduling. Mailchimp makes it all so brainless, yet remains the most powerful marketing tool I've used. No other method works to generate immediate sales and response like a well-designed email with MailChimp.

Cons

Cons? Not a chance. I can't think of ONE. In fact, I would be more likely to find cons of other providers based on the amazing experience I have with MailChimp every single time.

We are able to have multiple landing pages on our website that have sign up forms that automatically integrate into Mailchimp. Once someone signs up, I am quite assured that our drip campaign will methodically start to send content to the person who signed up and it can change course based on the clients behavior. We also were able to setup and do some deep integrations without exceeding the free plan for quite some time while we evaluated.

Pros

This software can very quickly allow you to setup an outbound marketing program that can send multiple emails based on different events that occur on our website. If you start off on the free platform you are still given access to an amazing level of control over sending emails to list of clients that sign up for various newsletters. I have to also mention that almost every CRM, scheduling app, and web hosting site seems to natively integrate with Mailchimp via API making it very easy to get up and running.

Cons

Getting the advanced features to work takes a some work and the full capabilities aren't easily seen right away. Sometimes I find that I am advancing too slowly through the screens to setup a campaign.

The interface is very intuitive. It makes it easy to compose email campaigns and send them to subscribers. The templates they offer with the drag and drop feature reduces the learning curve significantly. The number of subscribers and emails sent on the free plan make it very attractive to startups who don't have a lot of money to invest in mailing software.

Cons

It would be nice if you could select multiple recipient lists to receive the same email campaign with one single click. If you want to send the same campaign to multiple lists, you have to select one list and send it, then select another list, and send it, and so forth. A bit cumbersome. Perhaps there is a good reason for this, but as long as I have used it this has been the case and is a waste of time - if everyone is getting the same campaign, why not have the option?

Pros

Customizeable templates look way, way better than Constant Contact. It also integrates with our websites and CRM to grab contact info and keep track of leads/clients.

Cons

Their rules on email imports has been frustrating at times. Their omnivore bot flags things, but doesn't tell you specifically what the problem is.

Pros

The thing I like the most about this software is that it helps you build your brand. Being able to build my brand will help me get my name out like the big companies.

Cons

I really don't have anything I don't like about this software. I like everything about it. It's a really good software!

It helped me a lot to expand my client portfolio thanks to the mail marketing campaigns that I created with mailchimp.

Pros

MailChimp is a good tool to create your campaign is also easy to use. It shows step by step what to do when it is new and reports help me a lot to keep a better track of my campaign.

Cons

The cost of the plans can be high for start-up companies and some MailChimp emails are sometimes marked as spam, which causes the campaign to lose audience.

Pros

Easy on users. Many times we are attracted to a glitzy template for email. This can be done with MailChimp, but tests show that people will use the plain and simple format. The number of users on the Free Forever program is wonderful for people who are starting out. By the time their list has outgrown that generous number, they are ready to invest in the paid program.

Cons

Difficulty to design an attractive form within the software. The pretty ones require two clicks for users.
