All a Psychiatrist Needs

5

Adequate and in some ways a superior replacement for my old EMR, which was designed by and for psychiatrists, that shut down. It took a fair bit of work to set-up PQ the way I needed it initially, which was stressful working on a short timeline, but it now runs quite smoothly.

Ratings Breakdown

Functionality

Pros:

Highly customizable templates, ability to do everything I need as a private practice psychiatrist within one platform (including eRx/EPCS, scheduling, billing, claims filing, and patient communication), competitive pricing on credit card processing and all-in cost.

Cons:

The UI could be a bit more intuitive -- for instance, the settings for different features are spread all over the platform and can be hard to find, the template editor is rather unintuitive (but, for a nominal fee, they will build forms for you), and certain common workflow tasks require a few more clicks than my old purpose-built EMR (likely because PQ is targeting a broad audience that has different needs, not just psychiatrists).

Reasons for choosing PracticeQ

Price (including credit card processing rates), comparative ease of use, and integration of all desired features (eRx, CC payments, claims filing, etc.)

Reasons for switching to PracticeQ

Luminello, my old EMR, was acquired and shut down by SimplePractice.

Vendor Response

Hi There! Thanks so much for your review! We are happy to hear that PracticeQ allows you to do everything you need to run your practice in one platform. I can ensure you our team is always working to ensure the interface is operating effectively for our users.

Pros:

I have been using practice Q for almost 4 years now and it has been a great experience overall. It allows me to run all aspects of my neuropsychology practice smoothly, including scheduling, invoicing, payment collection, sending out paperwork, administering questionnaires, etc.

Cons:

I love most aspects of PracticeQ. Sometimes it can be harder to figure out certain settings, but tech support is usually pretty helpful. Once things are set up, it all runs smoothly.

Use a different EHR

1

Horrific and I’m switching EHR‘s. They told me they were gonna get their own clearing house when I signed up and then changed their mind. Everything relies on integrations that cost additional money and the integrations aren’t that great. The customization I thought would be a positive thing and in some ways it was, but it makes it so chaotic and glitchy that it’s really not worth it.

Ratings Breakdown

2

Functionality

Pros:

I love the customization until I realize that it turns into a hell scape of processes and a web that you can’t get yourself out of and then when you try to change something, it messes the whole system up.

Cons:

The customer service is an abhorrent and the gaslight you. Don’t have something labeled as a pay period income report when it’s not the income report for that pay period. And then act like I don’t know what I’m doing because it says that it’s the report for a pay period when it’s not actually report for the pay period.

Reasons for choosing PracticeQ

Because this product gives clinicians access to their income reports and I’m trying to be transparent with everybody in therapy notes does not offer that access.

Reasons for switching to PracticeQ

Because simple practice has gone way downhill, and they also have crappy reports, and I was hoping that the customization would make up for it.

Happy so far!

4

Overall, really good. I like it and feel it will meet min and my organization's needs for a while yet. Might rely mostly on how quickly AI is integrated and what it looks like.

Ratings Breakdown

3

Ease of use

4

3

4

Functionality

Pros:

I feel like it is a very clean system, easy to navigate and fairly intuitive. I really like the calendar feature and my clients have had no trouble booking. I love the ease of sending clients forms and documents. I love the free to low cost text message reminders. The telehealth platform is free and works great! It has been easy for me to duplicate and edit various forms in order to make them my own. I feel like Practice Q is set up well for more AI integration in the near future, which is why I chose it. While this hasn't happened yet, I have faith that it will. All in all, I have been very pleased with this system!

Cons:

There are some inconsistencies within the system. For example, the voice recording is available in some places but not others. And the Snippet tool seemed really cool in Demo but I haven't found a lot of reasons to use it yet, and it isn't available in all spaces where notes are needed. Those have been the biggest things so far (3 months in).

Reasons for choosing PracticeQ

#1 Reason is that it appeared to me to be the best prepared to integrate AI sooner than later. With the Snippets and the voice recording option, I can see AI options getting dropped into the notes soon. That is the future and seems critical. BUT, I also feel that PracticeQ has the best value for what it offers - free reminders, free telehealth, and a great calendar/booking feature that is easy for clients to use. I also like the clean, simple design and color scheme. Those mattered to me.

Vendor Response

Hi Christian, Thank you for such a thorough review, we really appreciate it! We agree on the AI front so stay tuned for what we have in production. We're always working to improve and innovate our current features, responding to changes in how providers treat patients and always maintaining security. Thank you for being a customer! We're excited you're here.

There are some features that are not as advanced and they communicate frequently with the users to adapt the most needed things for each type of practice (the positive for the area they are currently lacking).

Reasons for switching to PracticeQ

Not as easy and did not have an online booking ability.

Pros:

The automations are the best part. No other EHR I have used, demoed or researched has the level of automations PracticeQ has which makes things run so smooth and very hands off. The EHR is easy to use and the learning curve compared to other EHRs is far lower making setup or edits very easy.

Cons:

It’s a little slower overall compared to other EHRs I have used. Not quite as many features compared to others as well. Design is kind of bland, but that’s just personal preference.

Reasons for choosing PracticeQ

The level of automation makes PracticeQ stand above the competition.

Reasons for switching to PracticeQ

The level of automations especially for a small practice with limited admin makes my workflow and workload more streamlined.
