DrChrono EHR software


DrChrono EHR is a patient care platform that offers customization at the point of care and on the go. In addition to EHR, DrChrono also includes scheduling, billing and patient reminders. It is available on iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.

Healthcare providers can utilize only the applications, technology and back-office functions they need. This platform automates patient check-ins, documentation, e-Prescribing, medical billing and more.

The patient personal health record app (PHR) and patient check-in apps guide patients through registration; at their next visit they simply confirm their information with a tap.

M*Modal lets providers tap, speak and document patient visits on the software's built-in forms, all of which can be customized.

FreeDraw is an available app that lets providers and office staff notate diagrams, X-rays or other files; they can also use the iPad's built-in cameras to take pictures and embed them in the patient's record.

Prescriptions can be sent electronically via iPhone, iPad, and the Internet; software can offers e-fax capabilities.

    Dr Chrono review in Facial plastic surgery

    Overall it is a great emr and RCM for small practices and small plastic surgery practices with a facility. Customer support and correcting issues needs to improve, however.

    Pros

    It’s very user friendly and the notes are easy to template. It is also a very intuitive system that is based upon Apple platforms. It is also user friendly for the staff to enter patient information and schedule appointments. It works for the physician on an iPad or iPhone wising an application.

    Cons

    The biggest downfall of the system is there lack of phone support and it can take several days or weeks to resolve an issue. With the new update, we still can’t send facility UB-04’s and the support team has not kept us in the loop on when it might be fixed since their new update. This is a definite flaw in their support.

    DrChrono for the most part is really easy to work with and learn!

    Pros

    I really like a lot of the different features of DrChrono, the form builders, the scheduling is simple, billing is simple. It's user friendly and easily manageable!

    Cons

    We have found glitches once in a while, whether it be that consent forms don't auto-populate like they're set up to do, or a picture or document won't save.

    The schedule is super easy to read quickly and filter for specific appointment types. I also love the feature that warns you when there is a duplicate patient.

    Cons

    I wish there was a "find the next available appointment" feature and I don't like how the page clears if you don't save the first and last name before clicking to another app to get other information when adding a new patient.

    Mostly good, some very irritating issues, but mostly good.

    Pros

    It's relatively easy to use, and has a lot of really good features. Easy to schedule patients, easy to store documents, easy to fax things.

    Cons

    When you have more than one provider in a practice, it's too easy to send things from the wrong provider. You can't refund a partial charge on a card. You can't schedule breaks over breaks, so sometimes making changes to the calendar can be very frustrating. There are also things that we'd like DrChrono to change, but they only say that they're working on it.

    I don't have any general comments about DrChrono. As I mentioned earlier, the students find the software very easy to use. I will continue to use DrChrono to teach about electronic health record systems

    I don't have any cons with DrChrono. When compared to other software used in the past, Dr. Chrono supersedes them.

    I was referred to from a friend who uses it. I agree that it's the way to go. I could have gone with an "out of the box" EHR which would have got me up and using it faster however I would have been frustrated with the lack of customization in the end.

    Pros

    adaptability to my needs
    e fax
    data input from patient prior to their appt
    patient educational materials
    I can send handouts and information to patients after the appt.
    I don't have to click on too many pages to get through my note

    Cons

    Not super mental health oriented, like other EHRs
    It almost feels like too much customization at times (but in the end this is a good thing)
    Not always user friendly when just trying to get from one point in the chart to the next.

    We have been using drchrono for over 5 years, we have recently added the billing feature and it is working out great. We love it.

    Pros

    The software is user friendly and definitely laid out and user friendly like an apple user would expect. The final document is polished around the edges like a mac user would expect. Clean, crisp and user friendly.

    Cons

    If you do have a problem or a question that requires customer support there is no phone number to call and get immediate help. You have to submit a ticket and wait for them to get back to you. The turn around is usually 24 hours, and if you are not available when they call they leave a number to call them back on. The number then becomes inactive after about 1 month, So you cant keep the number and call in later with a new question.

    I hope they change some simple things and this could pass as a functional EMR.

    Pros

    It is cheap and they tell you that they offer a lot of quick tools. Overall, I would say that procedure notes are actually really quick which is the way they should be. Having said that, they are quick if it is a routine procedure. Any deviation from routine and it's really difficult. The iPad App is very funcitonal compared to other apps, but is still limited by the architecture of the program as a whole. In 20 years when the general public knows how to utilize an ipad efficiently, this product could be really good as far as the check-in/data gathering phase of patient care.

    Cons

    The program has far too many limitations. Simple things like headers and subheaders aren't really even headers or subheaders. It's rather impressive. Customer support is almost non-existant if you want something more than the routine minimal functionality. This program can't even get prescriptions correct. They omit the start date and end date of a prescription. They say "the start date is the date you write it". Well, what happens if you write a controlled substance that doesn't start for a week because they just filled a 7 day supply from their surgeon? Well then you are left hoping that the pharmacist notices the DNF in the comments section (the comments section specifically states: do not put start date, or any other important information). Everything about this program is like a teenager that took a programming course and thinks that they can do everything now. They have canned videos to show you how to do basic things. After that, you're on your own. It's just you and the glitches in the system trying to find your way through life. I'm 30 and fairly tech savvy, so I've been digging really deep into the program to maximize it. On the surface it looks great. After you pass through the first layer of promises...good luck.

    Big promises, little performance

    Within days of purchasing the system I realized I made a mistake. I attempted to resolve this issue and corporate referred back to the contract and essentially said 'too bad, you signed a contract' Keep in mind I never implemented the system and was in the training process when I discovered the gaps in service and the corporate policy of profits before service. My business fax number is now lost, so my patients and colleagues can't fax me, I now need to get a new fax number and change everything that had my fax number on it. I do not and will not use. Be very careful before you sign on the dotted line with this company.

    Pros

    Dr. Chrono has a nicely packaged sales promotion. They even speak of a free one month trial, but my free trial turned into a debt that I can't get out of.

    Cons

    Terrible service, little effort to do what is right for the physician. They botched my fax number and now I have to get a new one, creating a lot of stress and cost to my practice.

    Auto reminder does not work properly for almost 3 months.

    We can't give any pro comments until this issue is resolved and feel it is unfair to give any positive comments when we are loosing business.

    Cons

    It has been three months and the auto reminders is still not working properly. With multiple locations we are at an all time high with the auto reminder still not working properly. There are days where it does work and then there are day where not a single reminder is set. We have been told that this was a global issue and that it has been fixed but yet it hasn't. The auto appointment reminder was major selling point and feel very disappointed.

    Listen to all tutorials and videos. Still got to the help tab to figure out how to do stuff. Faster than calling the rep. and setting up a time.

    Pros

    Ease of use and functionality. Paper use and printing are basically gone. Faxing is electronic and quick.

    Cons

    It has it all so there is a lot to learn. I use everything they have and sometimes get negative feedback from my patients who demand a person who speaks good english. Not much cultural diversity in my patients.

    I had a good experience with customer service at the beginning, they were available to show me the software. I also like the way you can set up appointment reminders. The layout of the site is fairly intuitive.

    I like the most the ease of scheduling patients. Can stay on the calendar and add new people to the system with new patient button, very user friendly. Can just hover over appt for pt demographics makes calling and verifying appointments a breeze as well as drchrono sends out reminders to patients that are customizable!

    Cons

    I do not like that the med list doesn't carry over and isn't easy to use. I do not like that I cannot email patients from dr chronos.

    I love the IPAD function and the patient portion that allows patients to complete there paperwork. I like the smooth transition from patient to physician.

    Cons

    Inability to change titles on main patient information for our business purposes. It would allow patients and other providers to find where they need to fill out easier.

    The patient portal, communication and confidentiality, patients are able to request medication , communicate concerns and retrieve records . We also like the New referral option, we are able to send a referral to other physician offices along with documents necessary to aide in the patients care , we are able to send everything in one fax. Very useful tool.

    Cons

    The site can run slow at time, also we are not able to complete some forms and orders online, in which would really be useful to be able to complete and send a Physical Therapy Referral or Prescription to the patient via the portal.

    Think 'Practice Fusion' with a billing/practice management component built in.

    Pros

    the system itself if very fast, it is ipad ready with their own app, implementation is very quick; completing an encounter note is fast and easy

    Cons

    very light on advanced features and automation; very few vendors in their app market; not very customizable. Not too bad for a small practice, but I can't imagine using it for a larger practice due
