This is great for transparency and keeping track of hours spent on client projects.

    Pros

I loved using this tool, which is so simple and easy to use. Time-tracking software at it's best. The great feature of this tool is that even if you forget to track your time, you can go back and add in the time that you missed, which has saved me a few times.

    Cons

No cons, this is a wonderful tool - very easy to use.

We are a small consulting firm, and this was exactly what we needed for time-keeping, invoicing and payments.

    Pros

This is as simple as it gets for organizing projects, entering time and creating invoices. We process about 25 invoices per month, and this makes it all very easy, and even copies the invoices and payments over to QuickBooks directly.

    Cons

It does not have a report on Payments received, which can be very frustrating sometimes.

    Pros

My manager decided to switch to this program for timekeeping, tracking large projects and invoicing. These three functionalities make it so much simpler to keep track of my personal time, keep up dated on where my time is being spent and ensuring all invoices are being paid on time. I was able to tailor the invoices to include exactly what we were looking for and it's simple to adjust preferences at any time based on the client.

This is a time saver for me personally by not having to manually track my time on Excel as I was doing before this program. It also sends the timecard to my manager directly from Harvest by simply pressing "submit weekly timecard"

    Cons

In using these 3 features, I haven't run into any issues. It was simple to self-teach and the program has run smoothly for me since I've been using it the last several months.

Great. Its easy to use, has a nice clean appearance, and allows our my team to accurately track their time.

    Pros

Our studio tried a lot of different time tracking programs before landing on Harvest. Its really easy to create new projects, track time against them, and create monthly invoices to send to clients. There is a desktop app that a lot of my designers use that makes it really easy for them to track their time accurately as well.

    Cons

I haven't found a major issue with Harvest. For my needs, as a team leader, it works great. Though Im not sure what the experience is like for my director who has greater admin access. Considering we've stuck with Harvest this long, all must be going well!

Elegant, Clean and Valuable Time Tracking App - A Staple Product

This is a very clean, simple appearing, a non-intrusive app which is actually a very solid and powerful platform. It has the potential to be an indispensable part of modern project-based businesses. Well, the answer is, this basic time tracking app solves several problems all at once. First of all, Harvest is available on all your devices and computers so, whenever you need to track time...voila there it is. It is super easy to set up and use, zero learning curve needed. It's nicely organized by client, so each project gets placed where it belongs. It has idle time detection to prevent inaccuracies. There are several options for arranging your time-based fees and you can even include your billable expenses. The information is not trapped in Harvest platform so you can import and export clients, invoices and other info to your other systems easily. You can easily send email invoices directly from your time-keeping records and accept payments online with integrations. In addition to budgeting time, you can also track expenses for each project in order to stay on track, both financially and time management-wise. This software plus Forecast gives you the potential to be increasingly accurate with time estimates for your clients. Once you take into account all of the software integrations and the API, you really have a valuable central point to manage your business. It helps that this software was developed by a team that had to solve these problems themselves. The company also seems to have good stewardship of the business in social justice and community arenas. I have not yet used the mobile app or API but I am definitely a fan of Harvest!

    Pros

    -Intuitive user interface
    -Cute motivational quotes and illustrations
-Great native desktop experience on the Mac
-Wonderful integrations with other software, including Harvest's Forecast, Xero accounting and Stripe
-A multi-functional API and mobile apps (IOS and Android)!

    Cons

    - No automated sales tax - or integration with automated sales tax providers (Avalara, Tax Jar, etc.) on invoices
-Team pricing could be better and also would be great if there were a tier between free - two projects and unlimited projects.
-No offline functionality on the desktop

As a contract employee using this software, I love how clean and easy it is to use. I typically enter my time manually but I love that I can start the timer and go, and that they'll let me know if I've forgotten to turn the timer off. Both the browser and app version are quick and simple.

    Cons

There are some settings that can only be changed by the administrator, including roles and assigning projects.

Terrific app with a witty and clever brand style (the quotes they leave on each blank timesheet) are awesome!

    Pros

Harvest just announced some new integration with project management platforms like JIRA which is a HUGE time saver, and a game changer for teams who want to analyze their teams hourly work habits.

    Cons

The filtering features still leave a bit to be desired, but all in all Harvest is the best app on the market.

    Pros

The app is excellent, great on web as well. The different methods that one can use to track their time fits any style.

    Cons

I wish that Harvest gave employees the ability to look back at how thet have spent my time over a defined time period. Admins have this capability but rank and file employees do not.

Time and expense tracking and billing

    Value for Money

I used Harvest stand-alone when I started my business. A few years ago I took my accounting online with Xero so I explored many of the time-tracking apps that integrate with it. After less than a year, and countless other apps, I returned to Harvest because I've found nothing easier. I create invoice drafts in Harvest and copy them to Xero for final billing. It's simple, fast, goes deeper if you need it, and is reasonably priced.

    Pros

Harvest fits my business model. I'm a consultant who also does installs, repairs, and remote support. It's simple to set up Harvest with your client list, hourly rates, products and services. Once set up, tracking time and expenses is even simpler! They have a web interface and a mobile app. The mobile app duplicates most of the web features and is very handy when on-site - a couple taps selects the client and starts the clock.

Creating invoices is a matter of running an Uninvoiced report, clicking the customer you want to invoice, and editing the items, descriptions, prices and tax rates. Then save the invoice and either email it directly to the recipient or save as PDF to print or attach later.

Harvest can connect to Trello, Quickbooks, Xero, Stripe, PayPal, and about 80 other online applications, and has a programming API if you are so inclined. It only took me an evening to write a script to insert all my Harvest-tracked time into my CRM app's notes.

    Cons

Everything is tracked as a project. To enter time, you first have to create a project to track it. Even if you are doing a one-off visit, you cannot track that hour or two until you have created a new project for that customer. It would be helpful to be able to log billable time directly to a customer.

    Pros

As a small business owner, there is no better time tracking tool than Harvest. I love that it gives me the visibility I need on how much time I am investing in each project/client. This visibility (that takes no thought on my part– just press the button and work!) has given me the ability to make better, more informed and strategic decisions that ultimately make for a healthier business. This app– although simple– has dramatically transformed my business & life!

    Cons

Not much. This app has been great and has met a very crucial need for my business that is well worth the price. The only potentially nice thing would be to have some sort of notification system to check in as I am working, so I am reminded when it is still running and when I may need to pause for a break or stop altogether (i've forgotten a number of times when i've paused or stopped working & left the timer on).

I've been using Harvest in tracking time for one of my clients who owns a digital marketing agency. I either use the Chrome tool or the Asana integrated tool. You can simply track the hours you spent for each tasks that you have worked on using Harvest. It's very simple and nothing fancy. It also notifies you via email your team spent more time than the hours set for a certain project.

    Cons

Adding a screenshot feature will be very helpful to improve the tool.

    Cons

I would change anything about this app from a functionality perspective. However, the brand needs to be updated.

We use Harvest to report our agency rates/hours worked to our clients by generating a monthly work report which breaks down time budgets by task/project. Harvest gives our clients a detailed idea of how work was distributed among our internal departments.

    Pros

Desktop (Windows & Mac), mobile (Android & iOS) and browser apps make this easy for everyone on our team to use both in-house and remotely. The time tracking tool per department is convenient for quoting new projects (using historical project data) and planning for future projects (based on availability).

Trello integration (among countless other integrations available) make it easy to integrate into your existing task/project management tools by copying all project info straight into Harvest.

    Cons

Set-up can take a bit of time to input all your clients, projects, tasks as well as your team members, departments, billing rates, etc. - Once fully set up, you're good to go.

Harvest saved me from having to purchase and learn a much-too-large software title for my small business - like QuickBooks when all I need is a simple time tracking and invoicing tool.

    Pros

I love that the software is web-based so that no matter where I am, I can simply log in using a web browser. Additionally, Harvest offers an app for Android which allows me to track time, scan receipts for expenditures and generate invoices/accept payments.

    Cons

I wish there was a way to add late fees/interest to invoices that are late and I wish there were a forms library to send out letters/communications that are routinely used with invoices, estimates, payments and debt collection. It would also be nice to have the ability to have a master account and be able to switch between multiple businesses/locations within that account.
