Harvest is a web-based time tracking tool for businesses of all sizes. The solution provides various invoicing and timesheet features that are useful for small businesses and even freelancers.

Harvest offers one-click time entry for timesheets. The software solution allows users to access and track time anywhere, either on a desktop widget, mobile device, Mac, PC and also via Gmail and Twitter.

In Harvest, users can manage and approve timesheets, and the system automatically sends reminders to employees to submit their individual timesheets.

Harvest allows users to punch in and out of through widgets for Yahoo, Windows 7/Vista and Mac Dashboard. It also lets users create and integrate invoices, including project details, expenses and hours.

Good LIS system

As a LIS it is a good system, truthfully the customer service team is the weak link. The more advanced IT help seem to be a lot more knowledgeable with the product.

Pros

Customizable for your practice, they have many good abilities for many reports, and the QC part is very good.

Cons

Customer service are not very knowledgeable, they have to take over your computer hours at times and end up with no resolve.

Pros

I love that you can create tasks just for you. In our company we have created our own verbiage and this lets us create tasks just for us. It is so simple to create a new project.

Cons

Creating reports based on the work that was done for the day or for a total project can be a little tricky if you are not really good at computers. It would also be nice if on the mobile app you were reminded of a past time still running or if the project manager was notified by email that there is an employee with a timer still running.

Easy to use on computer & friendly mobile app (for when you forget to stop time after you leave). It is easy to create new projects and log time in an organized fashion. I also like how it prompts you after you have been idle to see if you want to continue to log the time you were away.

Cons

I have the app for Mac and occasionally it will randomly stop timing or the timing will be off by a significant amount. Because of this is I try to just use the website as one source of truth. Additionally, the 'idle' message mentioned above can be annoying when in meetings for example, it would be nice to have some sort of silence or snooze

It's simple to use, and makes the cost and time tracking reports for the different segment of the business really easy. You can track how much is being spent on a certain project, and how long it has been running. This way, you'll know if you are making or losing money, and you can identify who has been slacking off !

Cons

It would be great if there's a function to track screenshots as well. With this function, it will really become a more powerful tool!

Time cost analysis -- Invaluable information!

Pros

The user interface is top notch. Extremely intuitive and easy to use. Plus, the reports are very informative.

Cons

The level of time it takes to integrate. This is not the software's fault, but it is difficult to integrate into a company with pre-existing systems in place.

It makes my job so much easier to have all of this information in one location.

Pros

This product is great for small business. It is easy to use and let's your employees enter their time and expenses. It also has an easy to use mobile app. It allows me to create invoices, attach hours and expenses and send directly from the software. I enter my payments into Harvest and can also send reminders on late invoices. Harvest also talks to Quickbooks which is totally awesome!

Cons

I would like to be able to create additional reports and have recurring expenses stay in the system. Otherwise I am a very happy user.

Harvest keeps me on time, on budget, profitable, and professional. I could not run my business without it. The price is very reasonable (I hope it stays that way!) and the support team is always fantastic. It's the one tool I use that just never has problems. With other tools and services, I lose time dealing with bugs and UI failures. But I have come to trust and rely on Harvest. And that's why I recommend it to anyone who asks.

Cons

At one time I tried to use the Mac time tracking app. I ran into synchronization issues between the 4 computers that I use regularly. I don't hold that against Harvest, and maybe it's been fixed by now. But I'm really happy with the web interface, so that's adequate for me.

Harvest has made it easy to track team utilization (critical for a services based business). It also makes it super simple to invoice time (not to mention follow up on invoices). Reporting and team visibility has also been huge for our functional teams

Pros

Harvest is easy to use on any platform, and has direct integrations into just about any other productivity tool you can think of. I love the Team visibility and reporting. Invoicing is super easy as well.

Cons

I wish Harvest made it easier to switch between multiple accounts (for example, business and personal) where different email addresses are used.

With Harvest we track more hours than we did with other software. It takes the hassle out of the process. Nobody likes to track his of her hours in complicated and time consuming ways and Harvest solves that problem!

Pros

It does what it does and it does it best! Time tracking on projects has never been so easy for our organisation. We have used multiple time trackers, but were never pleased with the wat we neede to register the hours we make for our clients. The mac, windows and iOS/Android apps work great. New projects are available instantly and starting / pausing the time tracker is wonderfully done. Managing the projects, budgets and tasks is really easy and if you like, you can integrate it with Harvest Forecast and plan your team ahead.

Cons

Harvest lacks decent support of monthly retainer 'projects'. It's not a show stopper for us, but it makes us do manual checks of the hours we make for our clients. I would love Harvest Forecast to be part of Harvest by default instead of the invoicing functionalities, since we use other software for that.

This integrates with the project management system Asana, and you can start your timer within the project that you are working on.

Cons

The one con I have about this product is that sometimes it has glitches and will link in the wrong task to the timer you have been working on.

Cons

Team capacity forecast tool is very complicated, so we ended up using a different tool . Also, a couple of the integrations we've tried don't work the way they are supposed to.

The desktop app is really useful for tracking time as activities are being completed. The interface is small and doesn't interfere with the workflow. It is flexible so that team members who prefer to use the full browser version are able to do that.

Cons

It would be a nice feature to be able to add certain activities to the time sheet for every day, instead of entering the repeat activities manually.

Pros

(1) User experience is exceptional. Tracking time within projects is extremely intuitive.

(2) Very visual product in terms of forecasted costs on a given project.

(3) Reporting is the best part - gather data based on team members, area of work, date range, etc.

Cons

(1) It appears there are multiple different funnels to get to the same information. These flows make the platform seem convoluted, redundant, and sometimes confusing.

(2) Invoicing UI could be improved. For example, creating and linking invoices to projects follows a seemingly arbitrary rule set.

We have occasionally found it to be TOO simple, and we are sometimes frustrated by timesheet approval emails being sent to seemingly random members of our team (we are unsure if this is a problem outside of our company).

Time tracking, integration with Asana, and downloadable reports are huge benefits for what I use Harvest for.

Pros

- Integration with Asana (includes the Asana link for the task being tracked)
- Free option (up to 2 projects at a time)
- Downloadable report
- Ease of use
- Time tracking
- Time tracking is also editable, which is great and convenient at times
- Start and end dates for projects

Cons

- Free option only allows up to 2 projects at a time, enough for most people depending on how your tasks/projects are organized, but it'd be nice if it was 3 or 4 starting out.
- Sometimes it'd be nice to be able to reorder tasks in the time tracking section.
- If you start and then stop time tracking for a task in Asana, when you start again later, it adds it as a new time record instead of continuing from the previous time record.

Time tracking, easy reporting. Clean and simple.

Pros

Simple tool to manage project time. It works for any person or agency that needs software to keep track of the time worked.

Harvest easily displays the detail of the time invested and you can generate reports.

Cons

In our case we could not continue to use it since we needed a software that would be integrated with our workflow (which is a bit complicated). Currently we use JIRA to take control of project incidents and although Harvest has a plugin that integrates with JIRA, we were not able to generate reports as we need it.

For teams or agencies that do not require something so specific, I'm sure it should work very well.
