Cin7 is a cloud-based retail management solution with e-commerce, inventory management, point of sale (POS) and reporting features. The solution combines the functions of inventory management, POS, third-party logistics (3PL) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) into a single solution.

Cin7 allows retailers to track inventory levels in real time across multiple warehouses to prevent stockouts or overstocks. In addition, it enables executives to calculate the accurate cost price and sale price of the products on the basis of predetermined rules.

Cin7’s POS feature enables salespeople to track stocks in real time while processing cash register sales in from any mobile device. It also enables users to process payments and manage accounts. The POS feature allows retailers to run promotional campaigns and loyalty programs by offering discounts and gift cards.

The solution is ideal for retailers selling products such as fashion and apparel, flooring, furniture, electronics and appliances.

Pros

Id just like to let you know how we have found the integration journey across from MYOB to Cin7.

We probably couldn’t have chosen a more busier time of the year to change our accounting system, however we were concerned that today is the best time to plant a tree, so we decided to start right away and work through it the best we can.

Expecting many disruptions and headaches as we migrated over, we are please to advise we have found this journey surprisingly seamless, and the support from the Cin7 team has been very helpful. We are only in the first few weeks of Cin7 so a lot to still learn, however we can always ask the technical team and they are willing to come back with a solution, backed with videos so we can train other staff members too which is excellent.

So overall this far we can say it’s been a great experience. We are looking forward to getting more from Cin7 in the way of inventory management as this was the main reason for us choosing this system.

An excellent tool for inventory tracking and their virtual stock feature has been a life saver!

We purchased Cin7 for our production and fulfillment facility and it has been an excellent tool for not only inventory tracking, but their virtual stock feature has been a life saver! Virtual stock from Cin7 looks at the ingredients sitting in our warehouse and tells me automatically how much of a particular product we can create without distracting the production team with accounting questions. We private label for multiple clients and then offer individual customer fulfillment in addition to manufacturing. I am someone with zero experience in mapping these sorts of programs, but one of the rep has been great as our client manager. He is incredibly helpful even after our initial training phase and has, on many occasions, walked us through various integrations. I can provide our clients with excellent service and accurate projections because of this. All of our meetings took place on our schedule and although my company and his are worlds away, he made himself available to us when we needed him. This is now running seamlessly and even though live assistance is over, he is really great at answering any questions we have and helping us with the little adjustments as we move forward. We are obviously very excited about this software and grateful to our client manager for all the assistance he provides.

Reporting and Inventory Management Feedback

Overall this program is easy to use, you have a great video library of ‘how do’s”, the one-on-one training is very helpful. It is great that I can get so many things customized and it seems like there is no issues with anything that I ask for.

Something that is very important in regards to stock and inventory is the Barcode/SKU as this is the one common thing that runs through all API, integrations etc. in my opinion these so these should be available for every report. That way I can run different reports and pull the data together using vlookup + barcodes(SKU’s).

INVENTORY
Current Stock Valuation Analysis
When a company looks at inventory as a whole, these are the following things that I can look at a know, SOH, Landed value, Retail Value, Wholesale value of the SOH. SOH should not include any inventory that has been pre-sold. It should only include inventory that is available to sell now.

Recommended for Food Industry

The cost for Cin7 is much less than other comparable software. And the customer's service has been outstanding. I would recommend Cin7 to any company looking for trackability of food products.

Pros

After using several other inventory software programs. and being unhappy with their back traceability, high cost, and how not user-friendly the software interface is. We finally found Cin7 from the recommendation of another business using Cin7. Not only can I track inventory with batch numbers it also has CRM capabilities. The reports are easy to use and modify. Information flowing back to QuickBooks is easy to control.

This is an area CIn7 could improve. I know you're a global company, but the interface and staff knowledge could be better tailored to individual markets like the US.

Genereally very positive however you are expected to do most things yourself. It's great in one way as you obviously learn a lot, but especially when you go-live, there will always be unexpected things and it would have been nice to have more support especially during that time. A lot of questions that we had during the changeover period the support contact didn't know the answer to there and then so there was a lot of "we'll have to wait until our next session next week". It just didn't feel like he actually knew the system himself that well.

Pros

It's online so it's a platform most people are familiar with. Navigation is easy and user-friendly and just generally makes sense. Also a lot of the info like the help articles and videos are very clear and easy to follow.

Cons

Still some things "in progress" such as the DROP SHIP which doesn't work.
MADE-TO-ORDER products don't automatically generate a new PO if you have stock (we're in the furniture business so we have a lot of furniture on display and thus showing stock, so when a new sales order gets raised for a sofa for example - no PO is generated even though it should be, as the product has been set to MADE-TO-ORDER).

Some things seem to be half-baked, for example you can bulk invoice but you can't send out invoices in bulk so that is very manual.

You can upload product images but they do not get pulled to any of the product reports. Again, as we are in a vey visual industry it would be very useful to have images along side product sales reports, or evern things like stock counts.

Cin7, Great, but crashes a lot!

It has been the software we use at work to make sales. It is well organized, but it has so many features that that turns out to be a bit complex, unless you just focus in certain tools.

Pros

It is easy to use once you know about all the tools and all the features it has. It is a very reliable software. It is easy to learn and easy to use. Friendly as well.

Cons

What I find terrible, is that it crashes a lot. When the system crashes, you are not able to make sales!!! So basically your business is frozen until Cin7 works again. It takes so much time to reboot the system. It has so many features that you get lost sometimes.

Centralised stock management

Pros

Built in integrations and the ability to route orders to different warehouses based on the country of order. As a developer it's also great to have access to the api for integration into our own systems.

Cons

Trying to get all the different integrations to map correctly to the different shipping options.

Poor Service - Inflated Pricing - Over promise and under deliver

In summary, the product does work in a very clunky way, but CIN7 will gouge you from a price perspective, and their support is less than supportive.

Pros

It does work in a very clunky sort of way. The interface is very basic. In hindsight wrong decision to go with CIN7

Cons

1) Pricing. The double the price each year. Initially $x price and that was it. Next year they doubled, this year they doubled it again. They say they base it upon the revenue we put through the system. That was never part of the original agreement
2) Support . Unless you pay for premium support they will not take your phone call, to log a support call. It all has to be done via email. If you are lucky they might get back to you in 24hrs with and answer. more likely 48, or 72hrs.
3) Product Releases. The ywill make changes to the production system on the fly with out testing, and release to it customers with out telling them. When we log a call saying a particular function "isnt working" , their response "oops sorry about that we will get our developers to fix that."

4) CIN7 made a big song and dance about a release of a new QBO (Quickbooks online) module, only for it to be delay, delay and delayed again.

However, given the nature of software, there will be instances where a release may have unintended consequences. However, we are always committed to resolving the issues ASAP and establish security measures to ensure this doesn't occur again and mitigate the risk going forward. 4) Again, as stated above, we may delay a release if we have found bugs in the testing process to ensure issues raised in point 3 (releases that have unintended consequences) does not occur. Mix bag - from awesome features and ideas to very hard to implement and things that were promised turn out to are not offered and make the price steap for what you get.

System implementations are never fun

Cin7 resolves our business need of needing a CRM to integrate into an account software. Like with all new systems implementation, its a stressful exercise for businesses. Cin7 provided the support we needed during this time. We hope this partnership continues to flourish, and we look forward to continuing on the journey of building our business with them.

Pros

The biggest attraction with Cin7 was finding a CRM partner that could support our business. Cin7 has the size and support team we require to fulfil that need.
The integration with Xero .
The system has a lot of clever functionality.
The support received during the 3months post implementation was good. We had a dedicated account manager Srikanth who guided and was the go to person for all issues. He was responsive to our needs and did the best to represent our business issues to the internal developers.

Cons

Our business product cost model is based on detailed per unit cost at large quantity. Cin7 is currently unable to deal with this requirement on a consistent level whereby all features of the system is gathering and reporting consistently at 4dp.

Cin7 is not the easiest system to use. Screens are very full and system processes are often complicated and multi stepped. eg when selecting kitset items in sales orders

Ease of customisation or feature/report enhancements. There is no clear path from customer's perspective how to have this done. As customers we are willing to pay if the feature is crucial, however does not seem to be an option.
