Virtual Office is a collection of comprehensive web-based business VoIP solutions from offered by 8x8. Enterprise grade phone service, virtual meetings, mobile applications, virtual contact centers and more are available to help companies in virtually any industry optimize their communications. It suits companies managing distributed and mobile employees.

Customer service is off-shore and usually takes a day or two to solve the issue. However, they have been able to to correct every weird mishap, every time.

Pros

Our monthly costs have dropped dramatically with VoIP service through 8x8. The sound quality blows analog lines out of the water as well. They run promotions from time to time that give you an easy way to get brand new Polycom Phones at low or no cost.

Cons

They have transitioned to a new web platform with the X2/X5/X7 plans which gets you a different management portal than Virtual Office Classic. It is still rather buggy which is not something you want in a phone system. Weird error messages will appear, sometimes it takes several times for a feature change to implement. If they are able to improve it, I can see it being an excellent product.

The ease of using the virtual desktop app without the hassel that other phone systems have. Users are able to set their own caller id which is a huge help when needing to change numbers

Cons

The biggest con of all, is the difficulty to add or change virtual numbers. In a call center that has to change numbers often, it is a huge hassle to have to go through the sales rep every time there is a need to make a change.

Cons

Pros

Really like the convenience of being able to take my office phone with me where ever I am. Useful in that aspect.

Cons

The app is very buggy. It goes offline after each call and if you don't restart the app, the next call that comes in will freeze on the screen. I've also noticed that the calls that come through on the app are delayed. The phone will ring twice in the office before my cell phone rings which causes a lot of missed calls if I'm not able to answer right away. Especially if the app doesn't respond quick enough.

We use 8x8 for our office and we typically don't experience issues with our in office phones. The service is pretty reliable for in office phones.

Cons

The mobile app is SO glitchy. There is a large delay from when a call is received in office versus when it starts ringing from the mobile app. It causes a lot of our calls to be missed. Sometimes, the app won't open fully in order for us to hit the answer button. It will freeze a lot and requires a lot of forcing close and reopening the app so it will function properly.

This product offers pretty much everything you'd expect from a high-end VoIP without the high-end price, including call recording and faxing. For most the faxing functionality is just a "nice to have" but for us, it was a feature we were specifically looking for. It also integrates with Salesforce and Microsoft Outlook, so old timers in the office will be more comfortable using it over some of the other VoIP options out there.

Cons

Not to be particular, but the interface is pretty ugly and clunky. Think login web portals in the mid-2000s.

Switched to 8x8 from another popular VOIP system, due to profit loss issues with other system, and great recommendations from trustworthy business connections. I overall love the experience and the system, how easy it is to use and navigate. However it was a bit overwhelming at first, you get used to how its used fairly fast! If you need help from customer service though, be careful it could become a headache and a lot of wasted time and frustration really quickly!

As a manager for an inbound tech support call center, 8x8 did a decent job accomplishing most of what we needed. It allowed us to answer calls, manage queue schedules and priorities, etc. The agent interface was easy to use, but the admin interface was fairly difficult and required some sort of a programming background to make full use of it. The biggest problem with 8x8 is its lack of features such as: automated reporting and live metric dashboards. Also, the email client was difficult to use and was very glitchy sometimes resulting in losing emails. The customer service was also below par. Most of the times that I called in, the agent on the other side, did not know the answer and took way too much time to get back to me (if they did). In a span of 6 months, I was assigned 3 different customer success managers making it confusing on who my go-to person was. We eventually stopped using 8x8 and went with a newer competitor that was in front of the pack in terms of features and quality.

Pros

It's a cloud solution allowing you to employ remote call center agents

Cons

The worst part was the lack of support especially when things were down. Most of my agents used the word 'hate' when it came to the email interface.

Advice to Others

Seek out newer solutions which use apps making it easier to integrate with your CRM and other tools you may use. Also, try to find a solution which combines everything you need in it, such as ticketing, self-help sites (forum/FAQs/Etc), chat, and more.

The quote I received was very good, I was going to save my money per month to transfer my 2 lines with similar features.

Cons

As of the date of this review: Pictures can not be sent via text using their mobile app. It was becoming a burdensome to finalize the transfer, I kept getting emails that the transfer was not complete, and there were errors, I called them gave them all my account information and still no luck on getting transfer complete, after almost 3 weeks of trying and a couple of calls, I decided to cancel order. It has been over 45 Days since I cancelled the order and they have not refunded the initial payment, which according to the terms of the agreement I was entitled to, I keep calling and I get transfer from department to department. Case # C1214093, Case # C2542447, Case # C2542551, so that 8X8 Can check what went wrong.

all the benefits of a complex multi line phone system with none of the cost, maintenance or headache.

Pros

8x8's Virtual office has made it easy to setup our own VOIP phone system without an in house IT guy. It allows us to have multiple lines, mailboxes and to customize our phone system to make it easier for both employees and our customers calling in. It is great that we can easily update extension number, greetings and voicemail messages on the fly. Also, the cell phone app and the ability to take my office extension on the go is wonderful.

Cons

The interface for desktop in particular seems old and outdated. It is not always easy to find what you need. The App for cell phone has vastly improved over the years and has become much easier to use, it would be nice to see the website follow suit.

Without this software - particularly, its mobile app - it would not be possible for me to work from home ever. With the app, I am able to keep in touch with clients by phone, without them ever having access to my personal cell phone number or even knowing that I'm not actually in the office. The call quality is sometimes even better than that of my Verizon cell phone quality, which says a lot. I am continuously surprised and pleased by how clear and loud each call is, even when clients are calling from a mobile line.

Cons

The desktop app and website could use a refresh. They're both easy enough to navigate, but are a bit dated in appearance. In terms of functionality, I find that the mobile app will sometimes "time out" when I start using another program, and I realize once I'm back in the office that I've missed a call or two. I've had that happen on two different cell phones, so I'm certain it's 8x8 and not anything I'm doing. That's obviously a major con for the software, so a bug like that needs to not happen ever.

Lots of time lost, ineffective analysis, a poor decision overall.

It was priced competitively, they allowed us to purchase equipment over a 12 month period. They promised live reporting and analytics.

Cons

The reports never matched. Never. The analytics misses days of data, the request for support is nonexistent. They only tell you someone will get back to you in 48-72 hours. That never happens. We have been a client for more than 18 months. Not one item resolved. The use a call center with people reading scripts, and have zero technology ability to resolve or even answer questions. It is costing our company lot of amount to switch to another company, not considering the man hours to switch. We are so disappointed.

I did a lot of research on virtual offices before going with 8x8. From what I could find they provided everything we needed a reasonable price. Us going with them probably had more to do with the lack of viable options for small businesses then 8x8 but we are happy.

This software is very easy to use on my laptop of mobile phone. We collaborate a lot with international offices and 8x8 makes it really easy to call internationally from my phone or laptop. They also send voicemails directly to your email, which is a nice feature for people who work remotely.

Cons

Every once in a while it crashes and I have to restart the app. Also, sometimes it hangs when I try to shutdown my Mac so I have to force-quit to turn my laptop off.

I like 8x8 because it has some modern features like sending an email with voice recording of your messages.

Cons

The price is high compared to the function of the service. It limits your voicemail so you can only store about 30 messages before you have to login and delete them. The user interface is very complicated. Took me forever to figure out how to update my credit card on file because I can't tell how to login to the admin from the personal phone account.

Modernized our 8-year-old phone systems. Easy to use for the young crowd.

Pros

1. Ease of setup of physical phones in the office
2. Cloud management and cloud access with adequate permissions to everyone
3. I love the Fax feature as we have to send out faxes to old-school customers and/or government agencies. This fax feature is similar to uploading documents in an email.
4. I love the voicemail to email feature too. When there are a lot of voicemails, instead of going through multiple messages serially, you can just open email to hear it on your phone or PC.
5. Their call forwarding feature is great too. When you are not on the phone, or when management is at some conference, they get their calls on their cell phones if needed.

Cons

1. The phone ethernet line has to go through your PC. So every time you restart your PC/shutdown your PC, the phone restarts.

2. I had initial privacy concerns due to the line going through the PC. We agreed to it due to the reputation of the company.

Great Voip system. When compared with Aircall 8x8 is light years ahead. No real connectivity problems

Cons

Major problems include having to set up audio device every time I use it if the headset is bluetooth.

Pros

Everything is laid out in front of me and very intuitive to figure out. Fax, call, listen to VM's and organizing things is nice.

Cons

The cost. I hate per user fees. I don't feel that is fair but that is the market and how it is going.
