CounSol.com offers a cloud-based practice management solution that includes management tools for electronic medical records (EMR) such as client notes, insurance claims, appointments and billing. It is best suited for solo practitioners and is HIPAA compliant.

Users can configure a client web portal that allows patients to view emails from users' practices, schedule appointments, pay bills and write in a patient journal. Clients can also access online video and chat sessions with their practitioner. Clients can also receive automated appointment reminders via email, text message or phone recording.  

CounSol.com also offers configurable client forms, practice terms and policy agreements, which clients can fill out online. Billing and invoicing tools support integrations with Stripe, Braintree, BluePay, Forte, Payscape and Authorize. Users can also sync iCalendar with the calendar feature to help manage scheduling.

Pricing is per user per month. Support includes an account manager, email and phone support.

Do not have to send reminders to clients daily, help with sending forms and doing billing in one place

Cons

Not a lot of support, have to use other companies they work with for the billing and credit card services. I find the billing service confusing and not alot of support.

My service representative was instrumental in implementing CounSol, teaching me best practices, and daily support. He is knowledgeable, patient, and accessible. I think a professional such as our rep helps the software come alive.

Cons

My practice is small and part-time. The monthly fee is a bit steep for a part-time practice. I am grateful for the amount off the monthly service for each of my referrals.

It keeps my records so organized, everything is in one place and so easy to access. I love that it interfaces with Office Ally for insurance submissions and that clients can pay online prior to their appointment. What a time saver. Also, the HIIPA compliant online format is the best. It is so nice to be able to offer that as an option to clients.

Cons

I wish that it has a feature that notified me when a progress of treatment note needed to be completed.

Online scheduling, ability to create my own forms for clients, reminder of client's sessions, easy way to complete progress notes.

Pros

I love the fact that I can easily create my own forms/ handouts for clients. They fill out these forms themselves online and I get a notification that this has been completed. It really made it so easy for me to do initial sessions and intakes now.

Cons

I recently hired an independent contractor and I wish I was able to connect her to my account. Instead, I had to open a brand new account for her and create all the new forms again. I am about to hire again and will have to go through the same process and I will not be getting much of a discount either.

It makes my life easier and brings my practice into the modern age. I have been able to book more sessions because I can use the video session feature. I'm very happy with it.

Pros

I really like that there is a video feature built into the software and my clients and I don't have to download anything. The messaging works well and gives my clients confidence about their confidentiality. The scheduling and appointment reminders are a life saver. Also, my clients like when their appointment pops into their texts and they instantly add it to their calendars as they are standing in my office. I haven't use the insurance billing through the site, and I haven't used it to collect payment simply because I was already using QuickBooks. However, I think it's great that those features are included in the software.

Cons

I wish that the site was more mobile device friendly because it would be so nice to use my iphone for the video session rather than my computer. Other than that, I'm really happy with it.

Scheduling, bill payment, appt reminders, and esp customer service. Customer service is always quick to respond and has been able to answer any questions I may have. The reporting features and client registrations and database feature as well. Plus interfaces seamlessly with my marketing website. Overall I'm pleased and would recommend to other professionals.

Cons

Progress notes are not ideal if you work with couples or families. Doesn't allow you to write impressions of all participants, only individual. Also- if a client is having more than one issue related to sleep for example the quick click doesn't allow for choosing more than one identifier.

Easy to get into the system as I do that multiple times during the day. Easy to put information in the system. I like the fact that it is so easy to pull up past information when needed.

Cons

Learning to use the site and figure out what goes where. Clients don't keep track of their passwords to go back in to update information. Don't like it that clients can go into the system and cancel a session as they then forget to tell me.

I like the reminders/prompts that my clients received for their appointments. I like that the site easily converts to mobile when I access it by phone. I also like the ease in which I can modify parts of my office procedures/policies, etc.

Cons

Sometimes it is difficulty for me to find certain parts of the system (e.g., where to change my rates in the system, etc.). However, I attribute this to the infrequency in which I need to go to that area.

This system is much better than no system. However, it has some shortcomings. It took me a while to figure out how to open a session not that is transferable, printable etc. There are no codes for 90 minute sessions which i provide. I cant figure out how to make notes for a couple session that applies to both parties. The note is saved for one client, not both. My favorite part is that the calender is syncable to my google calender so i can see my schedule on my phone. I also cant figure out how to add attachments to messages sent to clients. Links yes, documents as attachments no. My biggest complaint is this. Clients can make payments through the bluepay gateway, but they cant attach a payment to an invoice. I have to manually go in and show the invoice paid. Other than that, I am very happy with the system overall.

So far, I have enjoyed all the features. Very impressed with how fast my assigned rep responds to my email questions. Wish it has features of customizing your text message and billing 2 insurances. So far, it's a pain to bill if there are a primary and a secondary insurances.

I have been using CounSol for over a year now and I love it. I love creating my own forms and having clients fill them out--all online. I also love their customer support. I work with Jonathan and he is my go to person for all of my questions. I put 4 stars for features because I would love for CounSol to create a way where I can add clinicians under my business. I recently hired an independed contractor and had a create a separate account for her and that definitely makes things harder.

I chose Counsel as my practice management system because of the integrated secure online video feature, but have been very pleased with all of the available features. The video option is very easy to use, both for me and my patients. I appreciate the note-taking, treatment planning, and other templates in addition to the ability to create my own forms. Customer support responds quickly and has always been very helpful. The U.I. is decent but may not be to everyone's liking. The company seems to add or improve features regularly, which is great. Overall, I have been very satisfied with the system and receive positive feedback about it from patients, particularly regarding the video option and the calendar.

Pros

it is fairly easy to use and has all of the features I need for managing my practice.

Cons

the U I is not as attractive as it could be. The forms creator is somewhat limited.

I've been working with my Customer support representative for about a year now and he's so responsive and helpful to my questions and concerns, often within minutes of me emailing or calling him. I couldn't be happier with his attention to detail.

Pros

It is fairly easy to use and to add new clients, create appointments, and send reminders to clients.

Cons

Many clients have reported that they have an error message when going to initially sign on and I'm not sure why and I haven't been able to help them, having to contact my rep for help.
