drchrono EHR Software

drchrono EHR is a patient care platform that offers customization at the point of care and on the go. In addition to EHR, drchrono also includes scheduling, billing and patient reminders. It is available on iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.

Healthcare providers can utilize only the applications, technology and back-office functions they need. This platform automates patient check-ins, documentation, e-Prescribing, medical billing and more.

The patient personal health record app (PHR) and patient check-in apps guide patients through registration; at their next visit they simply confirm their information with a tap.

M*Modal lets providers tap, speak and document patient visits on the software's built-in forms, all of which can be customized.

FreeDraw is an available app that lets providers and office staff notate diagrams, X-rays or other files; they can also use the iPad's built-in cameras to take pictures and embed them in the patient's record.

Prescriptions can be sent electronically via iPhone, iPad, and the Internet; software can offers e-fax capabilities.

While they may have a very robust EHR the lack of phone contact is ridiculous. Everything is done through email, you cannot call them directly. If there are issues that you need to actually talk with someone about instead of just emailing you need to schedule a call with them and they will call you, again you cannot contact them, there are no phone numbers listed at all. It is very frustrating when you have an issue that you want resolved and you just want to pick up the phone and get it resolved but you cannot.

Pros

Robust system

Cons

No phone numbers available to call.

This product is truly amazing. I has so many features packed into it that you really get a lot for your money. From the calendar, billing, and template builder this software makes how we do our business so much easier.

Pros

Great interface, and Ipad app. Very easy to do scheduling, keep track of billing, and keep track of money

Cons

Template building is kind of hard but I was able to deal with it. Also don't like that they don't have a tech support number. its all ticket based.

Ive been w/ DrChrono since its original launch and can honestly report that I haven't felt the need to look elsewhere. Im forced to use other systems in Hospital and Clinic settings and can not stress how well DrChrono works in comparison.

Pros

The entire front office system is incredibly easy to use.
Custom Templates (put the time in and itll pay in dividends with time saved in the future)

OK Software system. Easy enough to use and A/R system is good overall. One problem is that when a bill is rejected "ERA denied", the program doesn't elaborate why something got rejected. If a patient is a "no charge", their information will still stay in the A/R queue, which is annoying.

Pros

Inexpensive, good A/R analysis

Cons

Doesn't elaborate by bills get rejected.

Dr. Chrono has been awesome and very easy to use so far. I am impressed with all of the features that it has. We have only had small issues with the pictures uploading. They take a little while and we have had some disappear. Otherwise, being on the back end of things, it all works pretty well and makes it simple to run reports and gather important data.

Pros

Advanced Reports

Cons

Photos being deleted and taking a long time to upload

I am a family physician in private practice. I have been using EHRs for almost 2 decades, and DrChrono for over 5 years now.

DrChrono's developers are constantly evolving and improving their product in response to customer feedback. Their customer-support and training staff are excellent. They have a great library of short "how-to" videos for self-training.

DrChrono's subscription plans are very affordable, and I have found no other EHR that offers more bang for the buck.

Pros

•ease of use (intuitive user interface)
•all physician and nurse documentation can be done from iPad
•built-in speech-recognition
•easy to customize templates
•large library of templates
•continually updated "how-to" videos on their YouTube channel as new features are rolled out
•friendly, patient trainers and tech support staff
•extensive Mayo Clinic patient education resources
•optional comprehensive medical billing services

Cons

•The name. DrChrono is just embarrassing to say, and I can't make myself write it in all lowercase.
•100% cloud-based (which generally is WAY BETTER than self-hosting the data, but if your ISP goes down, you are essentially back in the stone-age)
•clinical decision support features are inconspicuous and difficult to navigate
•knowledge-base articles are sometimes out of date
•Mayo Clinic patient education resources are not well-indexed

DrChrono is an excellent choice, especially for the smaller size medical practices. The pricing makes it very cost-effective, and the customer support is top-notch. Additionally, I have employed their billing service to handle all my insurance claims and follow-up. Typically, it takes a maximum of 2 business days for the DrChrono team to submit my insurance claims. The speed and accuracy with which claims are filed have a direct correlation to the speed and accuracy of receiving payments.

N/A

I've used a lot of EMRs over the years and I searched a long time to find a good solution for our small group private practice that was user-friendly from the provider side but also had the analytics tools needed to run the practice management. We also struggled to find a biller in-house that could manage our growing practice. We switched to the revenue cycle management services with drchrono and have been very pleased with the billing team noticing an improvement in our collections and reduction of our costs.

Pros

Intuitive, provider friendly EMR, easily customizable
Good revenue cycle management software that allows me to easily analyze how our practice is doing
Cloud-based, works anywhere on computer, ipad, or iphone

Cons

There are a few things that don't work as well going from a solo provider to a group practice with multiple locations and providers
Little differences between computer and iPad versions are a little bit frustrating

Dr. Chrono is a good value for a large company. However, for a one person office like myself, it's not worth the money. There are many aspects of the product I simply don't use.

Pros

It has many good uses example the prescription ability to send it right from my office. The information on patient is incredible,

Cons

There is probably more things in the program that I as a small office won't use, But a large company will. The problem is that you can't separate them

I switched from a free EMR in May 2016. I make primary care house calls for Medicare insured patients. I needed an EMR that was Ipad/mobile friendly and included billing as well. I looked at many platforms. There are some nice options out there. For me though the selling point was the nearly full functionality on the iPad including an ability to fax right from the drChrono app on the iPad. There are a few things you can't do through the app and so I have to login to the main website to access these functions.
I have the Apollo Plus plan and so I do not use the coding services, I code my own notes.

Pros

Ipad charting via app.
Faxing within the EMR Avis the app and main site
Good customer support, especially on the billing side
Easy to use billing platform
Cost effective compared to other EMRs I demo'd.

Cons

The note templates are fairly basic looking (when printed out) and my order forms for lab and X-rays look plain. Could be improved!
Can't set tasks/reminders for a future date.
No alerts when faxes don't go through.

Advice to Others

If you have a mobile practice or work off a tablet or iPad, this EMR will be a good choice. Compared to other EMRs I have used (practice fusion, eMDs, EPIC) it does a good job. Not as robust as EPIC, but much cheaper.

Our practice has been Dr. Chrono for almost 5 years, and it was one of the best changes we have ever implemented. When the physician I work told me that we were switching EHRs, I was hesitant and nervous about learning how to use a new software. To my surprise there was little to no learning curve, when it came to learning how to use Dr. Chrono. Not only was it easy for staff to learn how to use Dr. Chrono, it was just as easy for patients to use the Dr. Chrono Check-in app. Over the last 5 years, there have been many great improvements made to the Dr. Chrono software. I was happy to have a brief meeting with our account manager Angela, recently, as she helped me learn how to better use new and existing features of Dr. Chrono to optimize the EHR in our practice. The costumer support has been excellent, when we needed it.

Pros

Being able to access our schedule and patient records from anywhere on any device has made it easier to work in and out of our offices.

Cons

One feature that I would like see improved is the "send e-mail" feature. Our office likes to send e-mail newsletters to our patients about every 3-4 months. It is nice that we can use Dr. Chrono, because all of our patient's e-mail addresses and mailing preferences are already in their records. Dr. Chrono is a bit limited when it comes to adding any e-mail content beyond simple text. It would be very helpful, if this was updated and eliminate our need to have another company that we use for sending e-mail blasts.

We have been using DrChrono since 2013 and have been very happy with it. We have repeatedly been pleased to see the new features that are put out and always find the check-ins with our account managers to be informative and helpful. Compared to so many other nightmare stories we hear from other practices, we have had relatively smooth sailing with DrChrono, and look forward to continuing with them.

I recently started using drchrono for my EHR and RCM. From start to finish, they are fantastic! Awesome product, with no issues so far. The iPad utility has made my charting life so much better!

What I really love is their solid customer service. Any questions I have are answered immediately, and they are reaching out to me to ensure I understand the little things, instead of the other way around. I am extremely happy with this EHR solution!

Advice to Others

There is a bit of a learning curve like with all new systems. Play with the fake patients, get your templates dialed in.

I really liked this software first when I just became a member. Being a user for more than 5 months, however, I started to experience some difficulty with this system.

Pros

Unlimited possibility to build templates.
Easy iPad access.
Easy patient scheduling.

Cons

A LOT OF GLITCHES! It seems every time I update the app, I have problems. Often, I can't touch patient charts for days until they fix the bugs.
Customer support's first response is very fast, but the follow-up is very slow. It takes days to fix bugs. Many times, so many people get involved with one issue, and I often get lost to whom I should talk.

Advice to Others

The easy user interface seems very attractive, but you will experience many bugs that prevent you from accessing the patient's charts. I hope the software be more reliable.

We have been using this product for about 6 months. There are some features that are very frustrating, such as the inability to have multiple users under the same email address for the patient portal. The patient portal is also very plain and you can't specify what questionnaire/form to send to each patient. The template builder is very user-friendly and easy to use.

Pros

Patients can schedule appointments via the portal - actually, pick a time, not just request mornings/afternoons.
iPad friendly.

Cons

Cannot have multiple users have a portal account under the same email. Can't specify which form/questionnaire to send to patients via a portal. Must have subscribers name, date of birth and address to bill insurance. Can't link subscribers to dependent

We began using DrChrono in August 2015. It has really helped us streamline our information, patients and referrals. It's easy to navigate through the program and has made our life much easier in general.

Pros

We like how the system tracks referral sources, diagnoses, payment method, etc. We like how the system sends automatic reminders. We like how the system reports ERAs and provides a transaction history for any given day. We like the use of macro buttons to help make documentation accurate and timely.

Cons

What we don't like about DrChrono is all the glitches we've been running into. For instance, our fax was working perfectly for several months then just stopped. We've contacted customer service multiple times, the problem still hasn't been resolved. We had trouble with the macro buttons not working at times. We've had trouble with pulling up previous visits for, let's say, one particular patient. We knew we saw the patient for 5-6 visits, but when pulling up the statement, it only listed one visit etc.

Advice to Others

Despite some of the glitches, we do like DrChrono and do recommend it for others.
