drchrono EHR is a patient care platform that offers customization at the point of care and on the go. In addition to EHR, drchrono also includes scheduling, billing and patient reminders. It is available on iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.

Healthcare providers can utilize only the applications, technology and back-office functions they need. This platform automates patient check-ins, documentation, e-Prescribing, medical billing and more.

The patient personal health record app (PHR) and patient check-in apps guide patients through registration; at their next visit they simply confirm their information with a tap.

M*Modal lets providers tap, speak and document patient visits on the software's built-in forms, all of which can be customized.

FreeDraw is an available app that lets providers and office staff notate diagrams, X-rays or other files; they can also use the iPad's built-in cameras to take pictures and embed them in the patient's record.

Prescriptions can be sent electronically via iPhone, iPad, and the Internet; software can offers e-fax capabilities.

I've evaluated and used many EHRs. Drchrono provides everything needed from a software.

Pros

It's User-Friendly. Appointment Type makes evaluating the day at a glance simple.

Cons

Importing patients is fairly easy.

Advice to Others

We have been using this product for about 6 months. There are some features that are very frustrating, such as the inability to have multiple users under the same email address for the patient portal. The patient portal is also very plain and you can't specify what questionnaire/form to send to each patient. The template builder is very user-friendly and easy to use.

Pros

Patients can schedule appointments via the portal - actually, pick a time, not just request mornings/afternoons.
iPad friendly.

Cons

Cannot have multiple users have a portal account under the same email. Can't specify which form/questionnaire to send to patients via a portal. Must have subscribers name, date of birth and address to bill insurance. Can't link subscribers to dependent

We began using DrChrono in August 2015. It has really helped us streamline our information, patients and referrals. It's easy to navigate through the program and has made our life much easier in general.

Pros

We like how the system tracks referral sources, diagnoses, payment method, etc. We like how the system sends automatic reminders. We like how the system reports ERAs and provides a transaction history for any given day. We like the use of macro buttons to help make documentation accurate and timely.

Cons

What we don't like about DrChrono is all the glitches we've been running into. For instance, our fax was working perfectly for several months then just stopped. We've contacted customer service multiple times, the problem still hasn't been resolved. We had trouble with the macro buttons not working at times. We've had trouble with pulling up previous visits for, let's say, one particular patient. We knew we saw the patient for 5-6 visits, but when pulling up the statement, it only listed one visit etc.

Advice to Others

Despite some of the glitches, we do like DrChrono and do recommend it for others.

I've been using dr chrono for almost a full year in practice and so far so good. I love the ease of use that the cloud-based system. The training and Customer service are great and they are always reaching out to see how things are going.

Pros

The ease of use once everything is set up.
The amount of reports that you can run to make sure you have a complete view of the health of the practice.

Cons

Time to set everything up. ( but it's worth the time you put into it)
Check in kiosk needs to be a little smoother.

Advice to Others

I would certainly recommend this EHR to anyone that is looking for a cloud-based system.

Scheduling is very simple. Enjoy being able to access from any of my devices.

Pros

Scheduling, financial tracking all very easy to use. Chart notes for office visits fairly simple, although I don't use any of the templates provided

Cons

Navigation through a single patients records sometimes complicated--often easier to re-enter patient name and start over
Photo management is not good. Unable to sort and organize photos. Lack of thumbnails makes reviewing photos cumbersome

Advice to Others

Highly recommend cloud-based system over server based. If photo management is a priority, probably need to add an additional system just for that

I have been using this product for about a year. I really love that there is an ipad app that I can use at the point of care and chart while I am talking to the patient. It is a lot less intrusive than turning back and forth to chart on the computer and I can hand it to the patient to show them lab values and reports so that they can share in the decision making. It creates a feeling of collaboration for most of my patients.

We also use the check-in kiosk app that was just released. LOVE IT! It streamlines patient flow. Its amazing.

Pros

a little more costly than other online EHR vendors
switching between screens to view patient data in the exam room can be clumsy

It works well with our team, we 100% developed all of our templates without help from Dr. Chrono team. We started in late 2013 and continue to develop and maximize our use of this system.

Pros

Portability for our Sexual Assault Nurse team is most important. We currently cover 20,000 square miles on Eastern NM and taking it to the pt. is most important.

Cons

We have been through MULTIPLE account managers, which is terrible for our continuity: Starting a work order and scheduling a meeting to assist us thru problems on a Friday to find out on Monday we have been assigned someone new, and having to start over with the whole process is extremely frustration and its delays pt. care at times.
We recently had an issue with being able to Access our account and for greater than >5 days we were not able to get into the charting system. I had to insistently peruse getting help with this... meaning "ok we will have someone get back with you in the next 24 hours is not acceptable"
I resorted to having all members where unable to sign in to start filling out workorders by the masses. Customer service were good to respond but still didn't fix problems for several days. And there was never any updated information shared as to why this problem was occurring.

Advice to Others

Utilize developer team more. Know what you want and invest in learning the system.

I have been using Dr. Chrono for over 2 years now in our private practice office. Dr. Chono makes the general function of the office run smoothly.

Pros

The intergrated fax system allows faxed documents to be directly connected to patient charts. The tasking system allows me to stay completely organized which is a must.

Cons

The ICD10 intergration is not well blended into the provider charting. Providers sometimes have to try multiple times or double enter codes in more than once area to complete a chart note.

Advice to Others

I recommend trying Dr. Chrono to help maintain an organized & almost paperless office.

I love Dr Chrono, I wish it had added features for appointments - such as office cancellation and the ability to add what a client has purchased and counting treatments. I also wish it had a few different features on how to add fields to the consent forms.

I have totally loved this product. My office is streamlined, easy and it saved me lots of money from my previous system.

Pros

I love that you can create your own templates and customize it to your own needs. I also love the text message reminders. Missed or late appointments went down significantly.

Cons

Getting ahold of my reps has been hard at times. I have had a lot of different ones and I had two different large patient file transfers that took way too long because of communication.

I've been very lucky to use drchrono since the beginning of my practice and since drchrono first began, they have made the whole paper process online. I've seen them from the beginning when they were just working on the idea and to where they are at now, with all the feedback they got from healthcare providers. They still have a long way to go, but this company is awesome because they are so ahead of the game.

My office starting using this program several months ago and at first we had some difficulties. What I love about this program is how someone is available to conference with our staff when we have questions and need help. After about two weeks of using Dr Chrono, I became familiar with where the documents were located that I use and was self sufficient using the program.

Pros

I believe it was customized for our using based on our needs and that is not something you get from other software programs. Another pro is being able to call and speak with someone when we need help and she has always returned our office's phone calls and been very welcoming and helpful.

Cons

I have only noticed one thing that was confusing for me as a user. When we used the IPad the program looks different than on the laptop so at first I had trouble finding the screen I needed. I don't believe that this is a software program issue though.
