Kareo is a Web-based EHR, medical billing, and practice management used by thousands of physicians across the United States. This system suits small practices and billing companies. With Kareo, practices can schedule patients, confirm insurance, manage delinquent accounts and the collections process, store patient documents, develop customized reports and more.

Practices can be up and running within 48 hours of signing up. The system starts at a low monthly rate with no contract, no set-up fees without the worry of maintaining and updating the software.

Kareo Clinical EHR can be used across a wide variety of medical specialties, including mental health, family medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, chiropractic, podiatry and more.

Know what you need and what to look for, if they meet the manditory criteria that you set for yourself, you'll be good.

Billing/Managment sofware is good. EHR way behind times. Support staff including billing team- no good.

Poor customer support. Billers cant bill and are accountable to no one. Switched to MTBC and we are paying bills and making money.

Recommendations

Run. Look elsewhere. I went with MTBC. Kareo was putting me out of business.- MTBC saved our income.

Subscribed to all modules, Billing EHR and marketing. So far it's been easy to navigate and customer service excellent.

Some features that are found on high-end, server-based EHRs, but for the cost savings, we'll live without them!

Recommendations

Look carefully at the "partners," for other add-ons that you can use, like practice specialty specific software and telemedicine modules. You can craft a cloud-based EHR/PM suite, get rid of expensive servers with planned obsolescence and save a bundle while delivering excellent patient care!

Very smart, easy to use, very interactive. Full integrated system with billing software.
1 system including patient registration, marketing, medical information chart, billing. No maintenance, Easy set up.

Recommendations

Small practice, starting new, nice options. If anyone who is interested in opening own practice, must consider this software and system. The checkup will be done very easy, excellent support from the staff.

They have a good support staff who was very patient with me :) and an intuitive interface.

We have a very small office. It is a bit complicated for our needs, but I'm sure a robust software is great for other practices.

Recommendations

Be prepared for a longish (1-2 months if you are diligent) period for training and set up. Ultimately worth it, but it did effect our implementation deadline a bit.

simple but not good for psychology, counseling and mental health as it is more of a medical model
i dont know how it would work if designed to meet our agency's needs

detailed drop downs in clinical record for skimming & clicking for positive signs/symptoms. Could use more (-) boxes for pertinent negatives.

DAILY problems-especially with ERx. They sucked up a lot of patient time & slowed my charting/billing to a crawl.
***The deal breaker is that there is no way to periodically download clinical information so it can be stored off site in case of an electrical or ransomware disaster.

Please reach out to us again if you continue to have issues – we certainly want your use of e-Prescribing to be convenient for you and your patients.

Regarding periodic back-ups of your data, Kareo sends your data to our secure cloud where we perform several backups per day. We also send your data to another off site location to prevent access by anyone other than your authorized practice staff. We encrypt your stored data and monitor access 24/7. Finally, if we see any unusual activity, we are able to detect and stop it quickly. So while the overall responsibility for the protection of your data relies upon your onsite security practices, we can play a strong support role in how we handle your data in Kareo.

The vendor has always been very efficient and quick with questions to issues. Our representative was very helpful and professional at getting our training in and completely in a timely manner. The product works well with most insurance companies. I like that Kareo can find mistakes with billing, and the billing can be fixed before sending to the insurance companies, thus helping prevent denials and getting more timely payments.

Sometimes, the connection with Web PT can be disconnected when adding new providers. I do think that for smaller clinics, this service is a bit pricy, as you are paying per provider, and for part time providers, it is not always beneficial. Our state Medicaid system still needs to be billed separately and cannot be billed on this system.

Recommendations

Look at overall cost of this system. It is very efficient and has cut down on administrative billing time; however, it is challenging with providers who work very part time or PRN. As an owner, it is not beneficial for the part time or PRN therapists with this program.
