We're only in the setup stage but everything seems to be working well & we're impressed with the support.

Pros

After researching at sitting through several demos this seems to be the most complete & user-friendly product for our specialty which is Speech Therapy.

Cons

None to mention yet.

Advice to Others

The fact that WebPT has a 99% retention rate should give you confidence.

WebPT is very user friendly and has made my new practice launch much easier.

Pros

Very affordable, daily notes are simple to complete, and customer service is extremely good.

Cons

Initial evals take a long time to complete, but they end up being very thorough, so I guess it's worth the time.

Advice to Others

My practice is small, and I am the sole provider as well as office manager at this point. From this perspective, WebPT is very good, and I strongly recommend it.

The interface was designed by a PT. From the start, they tried to make the graphical user interface as friendly as possible. It has always been the best product for the $ in the Outpatient PT realm that I have used. They understood early on that software is a service. When hospital systems were paying for poorly designed software systems with 1980's style templates that played well on the back-end with their existing systems, WebPT was constantly improving their interface to make the least important part of a clinician's jobless aggravating and faster.

Pros

The drop down, fully customizable GUI.

Cons

They failed to create an intuitive interface that learned from a therapist's interaction. Maybe I am expecting too much, but repetitiousness is inherent in patient care. That being said, the primary deficit I noticed over the years is that a goal template is lacking. I include 10-15 goals in each of my evaluations for a reason. I still have to select each goal via a slow, step-by-step process. Their billing service also gets a negative because they charge a percentage to process cash pay patients. Which means you are getting charged for service on an account that they are doing nothing with. This may not seem like a lot at first but ends up costing a clinic a great deal of money.

Advice to Others

The best software I have used for outpatient PT. It will improve when they add voice recognition capability.

This software is straightforward and easy-to-use. The only concerns I have had with the product include that not all of the functions work properly on a tablet. I do home care, so tablet use is essential. Also, most of the assessments that I use are not listed in WebPT's database, requiring me to upload the information myself, which is not a problem, until it maxes out at 3 additional assessments. Other than those minor details, I have had a successful experience with WebPT.

Pros

Web-based, quality support.

Cons

Not all functions available from tablet, limited assessments.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I find that WebPT is certainly geared towards PT, however, I have still enjoyed it as a system overall. I especially love how it links to Therabill, making billing a very easy experience. I find that there is a superfluous amount of information on each page that cannot be deleted or modified to personalize it, but if you can skip through that it is a good system.

Pros

The tech support is UNBELIEVABLE. Honestly, the support is the best I've ever received from any company. Ever. In my whole life.

Cons

I don't like how you can't gear the page more towards your discipline and I don't enjoy the incredible amount of unnecessary information that is present on each page.

Advice to Others

Do your research as an SLP when shopping for EMR systems to decide if this fits your needs, however, I am overall happy with my choice and don't plan on switching.

The good: the appearance is clean and the interface is functional. The fields with diagnosis, code, and other history are quite thorough. People other than rehab receive printed notes that are clear and easy to read. This professional appearance can be critical, for example, if Medicare or private insurance requests to manually review the notes to determine the appropriateness of therapy. The ICD-10 code finder for the evaluations is very helpful. The billing reports are particularly useful with ICD-10 codes visible and details of each code available when the user hovers over the codes with the mouse. The automatically generated daily notes and plan of care for evaluations are a real time-saver.

The caveats: the cost-effectiveness of the software is inversely proportional to the volume of the clinic. For a small, solo practice the add-ons of billing, faxing and quality reporting are too steep. As for PQRS, well, the joke is not on me because I decided that the cost of the reporting feature would be more than any penalties I might incur by not participating. For the daily notes: the goals are pulled into every note and that can be cumbersome. The flowsheet is the weak point of the software: it is cumbersome, generating a separate flowsheet for each session instead of making a cumulative chart.

Pros

The professional appearance. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an old-fashioned typed SOAP note and a hand-filled flowsheet, but I believe that a reviewer with a limited science or health background is more likely to feel that the therapist is professional and appropriate if the notes look modern.

Cons

The flowsheet is the least functional aspect of the software.

Advice to Others

Consider your bottom line before spending on all the bells and whistles on this otherwise great product. I found I did better taking a course in coding and doing my own billing. Ditto for faxing. Use of the flowsheet is confusing and time-consuming. The user is better off free-texting interventions.

I did the demo of several top EMR and billing software. After looking all at all the pluses and minuses: the WebPT was on the top of my list for acquiring the software for my practice.

Pros

Simple to use, user friendly, good support system from WebPT and cost of using the services and WebPT is reasonable relative to other software product and services out in the market.

Cons

There is no dictation but I have no plan to use it at this time as is. However, WebPT are always looking to see what their clients' needs are and ready to update as soon as they are able to. I appreciate that. Also there is no Credentialing/Contracting with Payers services available and would like to see WebPT offer that in the future. Marketing is okay, I think their competition may have more to offer.

Advice to Others

WebPT is PT Focused and no other profession. Would recommend it to other PTs who are starting or have their own practice.

I have been using WebPT for a year now. It is very easy to use and minimizes time spent documenting. It seamlessly blends documenting and billing and helps to minimize any errors.

Pros

Blends billing and notes
Checks notes for necessary information (G-codes, recent progress notes etc)

Cons

Finding special tests on evals can be time consuming

I work in a private-practice facility with a specialty in vestibular rehab. I find that the documentation is not helpful for this specific population. For example, for oculomotor testing, there are not comment spaces after each test. More information is needed when assessing gaze holding nystagmus besides "abnormal, normal or not tested". I tend to write out all my testing in one of the comment sections.

Pros

I like being able to add different profiles. I like the articles that are sent.

Cons

It works great for orthopedics but is less helpful for specific populations such as vestibular or neuro.

Advice to Others

Great for treatment of orthopedics.

I have been using webPT over 3 years and am overall happy with the product. I am able to do my notes quickly but thoroughly everyday.

Pros

Easy of scheduling, entering patients and doing notes. Prevents errors with FLR reporting with Medicare patients. Able to track patients with lost patient logs.

Cons

Not able to separate out PTA statistics, all the numbers are done by who co-signs the document not the actual treating therapist. There is no way to pull stats on specific billing done by therapists or to separate billing by insurance.

When faxing notes the referring physicians self populates in the "fax to" line; it would be very helpful to be able to add other contacts to self populate (ie: case managers) so the appropriate people are always getting the notes.

For anyone looking for a Physical Therapy Documentation software, WebPT is a good option. I am still not convinced it is the best on the market for web based software, so I am still looking for better.

Pros

Keeps you compliant, built in document faxing, scheduler is designed well, web-based to work from anywhere.

Cons

Too much scrolling and clicking. Still takes about 30 minutes to actually type up an eval from start to finish; Fowsheets are not built into daily notes, adding yet another window you have to have open while treating; Flowsheets are difficult to use in timely fashion; Development team Not very welcoming to new ideas for improving efficiency; Customer service leaves me stuck on the phone for over 30-45 minutes every time we have an issue (which interferes with treatment time); Customer service reps admit there are flaws in the Physician referral/script/authorization design, but development team is not willing to help fix; This system overall is designed to prevent Autonomy. You CANNOT enter a patient into the system without a "referring physician," which limits your ability to properly document for direct access clients. The system FORCES you to pick a specific ONSET Month/Day and year or you can't finalize an eval (which we know most patients don't now an exact day) and your onset date cannot be more than 1 year (which prevents you from accurately documenting chronic pain onsets and old injuries that have been put off for some time.

Advice to Others

I would recommend looking around for other software before making WebPT your first choice. It is a good system, and will get the job done, but it has a lot of flaws we deal with on a daily basis.

It delivers as promised with regard to medical records and scheduling but falls short with its reports. I do a lot of our marketing and it is very difficult with multiple clinics to identify specific referral sources and trends. It is also very difficult to find productivity reports across call clinics separately.
If you have one clinic and no ptas than this product will perform very well for you. If you have PTAs and multiple clinics, it is very difficult to obtain reports that are meaningful.

Pros

Simple to schedule patients

Cons

The lack of reporting of statistics and referral patterns

Advice to Others

If you have a singlw cliniic with no PTAs then this is a good product. If you have multiple clinics and a lot of PTAs then this will not be very good with regard to identifying trends amongst your workers and amongst your referral sources

WebPT is easy to use but is so specific to only PT so it makes it hard to use for other practitioners and hard to use in a multidisciplinary clinic. Not good for a cash clinic only insurance

Pros

Notes are detailed. Love that it is easy to customize evals within. schedule easy to use. Love how the notes look when you send them out, especially when you send re-exams.

Cons

Payments are tagged to specific cases, there is no way to keep track on non appointments on calendar (like a notes area would be nice), there is no way to put credits on an account. The itemized receipt does not include all the info needed for patients to get reimbursed (so we have to make a separate document). No way to set up recalls on patients within the system.

Advice to Others

Best if you are a PT clinic that takes insurance
