We have had only a minor amount of issues compared to our previous telephone system. We left our old system very frustrated and disappointed with their service, from customer support to product usage. Our experience with Jive has been the complete opposite.

Pros

Customer support has always been very helpful and gets our issues resolved in a timely and friendly manner.

Cons

The only issue we see with this problem, which is not a big deal at all, is that certain technical aspects of its settings and features may be too complicated. This is easily resolved by asking the technical support department.

Never been able to use Jive Mobility, due to a licensing issue, according to their Support Team. Their Support Team is top notch and helped me to install and use another soft phone, Jitsi.

I was enormously impressed with the customer support that Jive offered at every stage beginning with the explanation of its services and pricing, the help and consideration in arranging the porting over of my telephone numbers from a previous office address, help with setting up the telephone equipment including tutorials session offered by Jive and most significantly continued customer support which immediately responded to my various questions concerning the operation of the phones, fax capability and other technical questions that arose.
Jive took an enormous amount of time to walk my assistant Anthony Petrizzo through the setting up of a remote wireless connection that was unique to my circumstances and required a great deal of technical expertise and significant patience.

Sometimes the calls disconnect when dialing if I do not enter all of the telephone numbers immediately. Possibly an adjustment can be made.

I appreciate how Jive has taken the idea of having an office phone system and improved upon it. The ability setup custom settings, check voicemails and view company directories online is very helpful. Also, the digital call clarity is second-to-none. We started on Jive when there were only four of us and we're still going strong at twelve. Our team relies on phone and inbound/outbound as a key part of our business. Jive's been very reliable and incredibly responsive when any hiccup has occurred. We have also benefited from Jive's willingness to allow us to participate in beta programs for SMS and Web Softphone which our team members really like.

Cons

Getting Cisco SPA 303's set up to work with Jive is arduous. Troubleshooting can be difficult as there are so many configurable options with Jive.

Advice to Others

Avoid traditional handsets if you can! If you can convince your workforce to use the mobile app and their smartphone or the Web softphone, they're immediately portable and will get used to working from anywhere. The moment you cave and get one person a handset, everyone will want one. Make sure your computers are hard-wired to Internet and you have plenty of upload bandwidth.

We are a school with 4 locations and Jive gave us a very competitive quote for 50 phones and devices. There were a few surprises (needing additional equipment for fax machine and security system) but other than that, Jive was great to work with and the support has been excellent. https://spatech.edu gives you a better idea of the environment we are operating in.

Pros

The clarity and ease of management with the dashboard gives me easy control of re-configuring the system when we make changes.

Cons

Some of my users find it more difficult to transfer calls to other extensions since they can't pick up the user on hold from another extension.

Advice to Others

You are probably better off keeping a phone line for your POS, Security and fax interface rather than trying to us the internet.

Really have appreciated Jive and the service they provide. We had a very difficult time in the very beginning with the quality of service. But we determined that it was partially due to Brighthouse in our area and not Jive per se. We spent many hours trouble shooting the garbled and or "underwater" sound we were experiencing on phone calls....including dropped calls. The remedy finally was to add a separate Brighthouse cable line designated just for the VoIP phone system and it corrected the issue. Jive worked alongside us tirelessly to try to fix the issue on their end...but it wasn't their issue in the end.
I would definitely recommend them if you are going with a VoIP system. The ease of their programming plus the innumerable options are superior.

Cons

We have to pay for two separate cable lines into the building to accommodate using 8 computer workstations and 8 phone systems simultaneously.

We are a small business who has tried several VOIP services. Without an exception they have all be disastrous until we switched to Jive. The folks at Jive walked us through setup, have helped us make changes as our needs have changed and resolved issues in one call. We are very pleased with the service. Jive helps us stay in-touch with our team and our clients we could not ask for more. They are priced very well which is a concern for all small businesses. We highly recommend this company because they understand that it is service that makes them great!

Jive is a great company to work with. The phone system was easy to install and their customer service agents are experienced, fast and very friendly. They exceeded our expectations and I would recommend them to companies of any size. It was easy to add and remove users and phones. Using Jive for our phone system was one of the best decisions we made. The ability to use the phones on any internet connection, the voicemail to email features allowed our employees more flexibility and increased our customer satisfaction. High quality company for sure!!!

Our church was on the lookout for a PBX solution. One of the challenges we found was that many of our staff were out in the field so often there would be no one to answer the church phone. The other challenge we faced is we did not want to be paying a huge monthly fee because we work with a lot of low-income people and did not have a lot of money to spend on a solution. After talking with a person from Software Advice we were given two options to follow up on. We ended up choosing Jive PBX because they offered incredible service, great tools at a very reasonable price.

Our current setup now is that when people call the church and no one answers, they hear from an automated attendant offering to connect them to the right person. The call then gets forwarded to the persons mobile phone. The great thing about Jive is they charge per physical device connected to their system and not per virtual extension. This means that at the moment we only pay for one Jive phone line. However, we can forward calls to as many non-jive mobile phones as we want without an additional cost. They are also very flexible allowing you to add or remove devices depending on your needs. Therefore when summer comes and we hire more staff we plan on adding more jive phone lines. When the summer is over we can cancel the additional lines.

In terms of quality, their voice quality is excellent. I was concerned that the VOIP quality might not be as good considering the home VOIP services I have tried in the past. Because of these concerns I took a few months to try out the VOIP quality with our staff and clients. We also tested the automated attendant at the same time. The staff have been very impressed with how well it works both in terms of quality and ease of use. This is why we are going ahead with the Jive deployment.

Their customer service is amazing. There have been a few minor issues that we encountered but they were very good about sorting it out. One issue involved a delay in receiving our phones from them. However, after I called them, they acknowledged the error on their part and did an express delivery at no additional charge to us. Another issue had to do with billing. We had an issue where we were being charged for two lines but we only wanted one. They were good about sorting out and refunding the additional line. The issue turned out to be due to our initial quote asking for two phone lines and ordering two phones they assumed we wanted the two phone lines right away. However, I had asked for a second quote with only one phone line, knowing that in the summer we would go to two lines. This is why I ordered the second phone even though we didn't plan on using it. All of us would prefer that everything go smoothly with a deployment. However, I am very happy to know that if something doesn't go right, that Jive team has an amazing support setup to get things sorted out.

They have great user interface for setting up PBX solutions. It is a drag and drop interface that anyone can use. I was very impressed by how simple it was to set up and route calls. They also have great training to help you get started.

Overall, I would highly recommend Jive Communication PBX. We have used them in the small business case but I can see that they could scale well for large organisations. We are very happy Jive Communication clients.

If your needs our similar to our needs I would highly recommend using Jive. I would suggest a staged approach where you first get a VOIP phone and try out their service. If you are happy with it, then forward your existing number to them and have your staff / clients try it out. If all that goes well then port your number to Jive. We have used Jive in our office for several years and the service has worked well. A nice feature of their service is that we can host conference calls at our office number by simply setting up a designated extension. This has been helpful when working with clients and not having to worry about setting up a special conference call number and password. We can simply say, call our office.

There were some errors in their invoices recently. While it was all cleared up, it required numerous calls and messages from our office to follow up and make sure that things were taken care of.

Recommendations

In looking at other VOIP services, they all seemed to have similar features and options based at similar price points. So, like many services that one might consider, I recommend looking at customer reviews to see how the company performs.
