7shifts is an online employee scheduling software system designed for shift workers operating in the restaurant industry. The solution allows employees to check their upcoming shifts, scheduled availability and time-off requests from the 7shifts home screen using a mobile app.

If a worker is unexpectedly unable to make it to their assigned shift, the app allows employees to offer their shifts to other workers who are available, who can then bid on that shift. The unavailable employee can then reassign their shift to another worker with a single click.

If an employee’s availability changes, they can make a note within the app, which managers can then view and approve. Workers can even request time off, and managers can view and approve these requests from their own mobile device.

7shifts enables social networking via a feature called the "Wall," which allows employees to post messages about upcoming social events or remind colleagues of upcoming work assignments.

    Overall the program is a must for any business owner.

    Pros

    I really enjoyed 7shifts for me company. We had just under 20 employees not having a time shift scheduler like this would take hours. My favorite features is being able to see what our company is estimated to spend on payroll. Also project sales and needed labor times from past sales.

    Cons

    I wish it was a little easier for employees to use the app on their phone. Several of my employees had issues.

    I used to make schedules through Excel, and would have employees email time off requests and availability changes. This software makes everything so much easier. It is so easy to use - copy schedules from week to week, move around shifts, copy shifts, etc. This app made me like making the schedule! It's also employee-friendly - they can give up and pick up shifts, and manager can approve them. They can communicate with each other through chat. Phone numbers and emails are available, so employees can easily contact each other.

    No glitches ever (previous app we used glitched and made errors to employees' schedules)

    Color coding departments and jobs
    Ability to print PDF schedule
    Communication (chat and message options)
    Employees can trade shifts
    Availability and time off request features are perfect
    Multiple locations allows you to use employees at different sites, but you can see in lighter color where they are already scheduled to work
    Great value for the price
    They keep making it better and will let you know when an update has been made

    Cons

    There's a minimal international fee charged monthly for 7Shifts. But that's all!

    I love how user friendly it is and the capability to send messages to specific groups. I also enjoy being able to pull up employees contact info and keep things separate from my personal phone.

    Cons

    I wish there was a way to swap shifts in the same time frame without having to track employees down to have them both give up their shifts and pick each other's up.

    I ADORE 7shifts, I love the fact that it is super easy to use on the app or on the website. It has relieved quite a bit if stress due to scheduling. It makes it easy when the team member has multiple roles as well.

    Cons

    I do not have any thing to say in terms of cons. I would like a function that shows if my team member has read a message that was sent via 7shifts.

    Scheduling staff has never been so straightforward. Budget and costing is easily managed and ALL confusion between staff and management is completely eliminated.

    I looked at several different apps before I decided on 7 shift, bit it really was no contest. The price was right, and it was so user friendly. I have had little to no issue figuring the software out on my own. My employees love that they get notified as soon as the schedule is posted. It's so easy for them to change their availability and switch shifts. I love that I can accept or decline shifts being traded based on who is working.

    I have only been using the app for a few weeks, and really don't see anything I don't like. It has made my work life so much easier!

    7shifts is a great software for the service industry. I love that you can see your schedule, ask off days, and drop or pick up shifts all in one app.

    The ability for staff to communicate via the messaging app and to swap shifts without making it convoluted for the manager.

    Cons

    The "Business Decline" and "Close" designation and the assumed time for these notes. Overall, I would like more open-ended options for hours.

    This software previously helped us save time and implement clear communication. It now is unusable and has little to no benefit.

    Pros

    7Shifts has a clean website that is easy to use when it is up. The best thing about the software was how it worked before they updated the system to be unusable and increased their prices by almost 600%.

    Cons

    7Shifts' new tools are not thoughtful and don't work with other systems. They have overhauled their system and the new system consistently has issues that make the website and apps unusable. Additionally, the regular system crashes come as 7shifts went from a very reasonable a month depending on the size of your business, to $57 for what we were paying a month for previously. Poor support along with a "Sorry! You are SOL" way of doing business makes 7Shifts a must avoid. Every update from 7Shifts has also included problem after problem. While the system to sign up for their service never goes down, the apps and website are now regularly unusable.

    Like Shiftplanning but much better and more catered to the restaurant industry.

    Pros

    Easy to use. Costs less than most competitors. Staff uses it everyday to look at their schedules. Managers use it look at shift notes.

    Cons

    Not too much to say. Micros charges a monthly fee to integrate with 7Shifts. Aside from that, we haven't found too much to not like.

    I love the app! Specifically the messaging portion. I can very easily message any of my employees privately or as a group.

    They haven¿t integrated with my POS brink. I feel once this happens 7 shifts will be more useful for me than ever before.
