It is an excellent system for both small and large behavioral health practices. Based on my experience with multiple EHR and billing suites, including other platforms, Valant stands out—particularly for TMS-based practices. While there are some opportunities to further enhance billing functionality, the overall ease of training, usability, and workflow efficiency is exceptional. Valant also provides strong implementation support for new practices and responsive ongoing help desk support, which adds significant value. After years of working with increasingly complex systems, Valant feels like a return to how business used to be done—simpler, more intuitive, and focused on getting the work done rather than working around the system. The last thing you want is your EMR to be so unreliable that every day you worry your system will not work. This means patients do not get the care they need. Additionally this has cost this small company at minimum tens of thousands of dollars of revenue as well as negative reviews due to not being accessible.Imagine waking up to start your work day and your EMR system won't even allow you or anyone in your practice to log in. Today is a Monday and the system has been down since before 6am and it is 11:30am and still nobody can log in. We want to call the patients but we cannot even access the list of scheduled patients. Nobody is responding to emails or able to help. This has happened countless times. This Valant company business should be reported to the BBB. I do not recommend this EMR to anyone who wants to maintain a professional and reliable practice. Ratings Breakdown 2 Ease of use 2 Value for money 1 Customer support 1 Functionality Pros: The ability to bill straight through the system to the clearinghouse is convenient although certain diagnosis are rejected through the clearinghouse. Cons: I am the CEO of a mental health practice and have been using Valant for our Psychiatry practice for the last ten years. This system will bring your revenue down by tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars! Using this system is the biggest regret of my career. Valant goes down during business hours all the time (6am through 3pm on a Monday for example) and it is impossible to view even the schedule during this time.This means you can't schedule appointments or even access a list of that day's patients. You can't prescribe medications. You can't check patients in and out. Worst thing is that there is no one to talk to during these times. Their customer support is basically non-existant! Valant eventually gave us the number of a liason to call in times like these because there were so many incidents of the system going out or lagging to the point of being unusable, but this person has no idea what is going on and has never been helpful and will only sometimes respond to his emails. The system goes down or crashes almost every week or two. Secondly, prescribing medications is very clunky with this EMR. The prescribing is redundant and requires opening up ten different windows to submit medications into the pharmacies. The mobile notes system is clunky as well. AWS as confirmed that the root causes originated within their internal network systems and was not specific to Valant. Our Service Level Agreement aims for 99.9% uptime measured on a trailing 12 months, excluding factors outside Valant's reasonable control such as third-party provider outages. We follow communications protocols to ensure real-time visibility into any issues, even those outside our control.
