Overall this is a great app which I use daily. Thank you for keeping it up to date with all the relevant needs for my business.

Pros

Works with all my devices (iPhone, android tablet, and PC) and syncs perfectly. I have looked for ways to setup a way to track my leads from initial call all the way through to contact. Being a small construction company it was difficult finding an app that could do this. Using the notebook in Evernote I have what other companies wanted $100.00 a month for at a fraction of the price and it works great.

Cons

The reminder function is good but it would be great if I could attach a comment to the reminder as to what I want to do instead of having to look back at the notebook.

Switch to microsoft one note - it's free, great, and actually continues to innovate.

Pros

It's such an old app that it has integrations to many other enterprise apps like salesforce, gmail, chrome, and many others. Works well with scanning apps, and has a decent system for tagging notes.

Cons

UI is confusing and hasn't been updated for years. Evernote annoyingly keeps trying to push you to use Evernote workchat, which is a worthless app that nobody uses and is about 100% worse than sharing notes over email. Evernote webclipper is incredibly buggy and completely fails to clip web pages half the time.

Pros

Evernote helps you get organized. Works well on both Mac and PC. The app is great, too. It really helps me stay organized and lets me access my files quickly. The storage is fantastic. The basic (free) option is amazing. I'm not sure why they don't charge for this because it would still be worth paying something for it. The Web Clipper extension for Chrome is what I like most. Try it, you may never bookmark or snip again.

Cons

I've had a little trouble with the app, but never with the web version. That's fine for me, but the mobile app version has not been as functional for me.

I think it is one of the best products to support productivity

Pros

The thing I appreciate most is the ability to have clipboards, files, images, and synced documents in any device I own regardless of what it generates

Cons

There are no shortcuts for simple commands in the PC version. If they were, they would be very comfortable because it would make it easier to use

Pros

I like that is easy to use and share files with my fellow employees. It is much simpler than having a established network for file sharing and organization.

Cons

I hate that it is not compatible with Excel and that any formatted tables loose their formatting and aren't viewed well on the phone app.

Overall this is by far the best way for creative people to index ideas. Have you ever written down an idea, created a melody, or taken a photo or video of something that inspired you only to be lost in the bottom of a note pad or photo album? Evernote will not only collect almost every medium you want to catalog, it allows you search and catalog them and even join ideas together that you never thought of.

Pros

Shares across all your devices. Search capabilities are incredible. It will even recognize text in photos.

Cons

They don't seem to listen to their community and take on some obvious feedback about color coding folders.

If you have a Mac, you need Evernote. My favorite feature is the elephant in the upper right corner that lets you open a new note with one click and start typing. I don't use post-its anymore. Absolutely love everything about Evernote. The only thing I'd change is to add the ability to archive notes.

Pros

Simple to use. Robust in features. Drag and drop images in and out. Take screenshots easily (I use this feature daily). Best in the business.

Cons

Needs the ability to archive a note. Otherwise, perfect.

Evernote is an incredible platform for any productive person who wants to keep safe, convenient notes.

Cons

Sometimes I wish I had more templates or integration with my google calendar. I also use salesforce. Still trying to find a method of relying on all of those together or if one should be the most.

Advice to Others

If you're looking for something to rely on, take some time to figure out how you best use it and start putting everything into it. The more you put in it the more you get out: things written are things planned.

Reliable Software but Not Unique

I started using Evernote several years ago as an easy way to take notes during meetings and seminars and keep track of Client tasks and projects. I'd been using Google Drive/Docs for several years prior, but wanted to start fresh with something new. While it worked for me for a while, I soon found that my needs outpaced the features offered by Evernote, and I started using it less and less. Eventually, I moved all of my project management over to Basecamp instead, because it simply offered more features and integrations that I needed to run my business.

Pros

At the time I made heavy use of Evernote, I was able to easily sync notes on my tablet, phone, laptop, and PC automatically. I also liked being able to organize notes into notebooks so I could quickly find things.

Cons

The Windows tablet/touchscreen laptop app was buggy and somewhat annoying to use. The layout and organization were very different from the mobile and desktop apps. Also, recently, the free account no longer allows as many devices as I had originally hooked up. It lacks some of the features that more robust project management software have as standard features.

Advice to Others

I think Evernote is great if you need to take notes and create on-the-fly to-do lists. However, there are much better solutions out there for both of those things. For my day-to-day needs, I've replaced Evernote entirely with Basecamp.

I use Evernote every single day and have found it to be a quality product. I started using Evernote two years ago and ran into some issues with the software freezing and shutting down unexpectedly. I stopped using it for a while but my alternative, Mac Notes, wasn't cutting it. I gave Evernote another shot and it has been great ever since. I regularly update and no longer experience freezing or unexpected shutdown issues.

I use the software for the most basic note-taking, but I know it also offers many features that can be helpful for many types of users. I recommend the software to all of my colleagues and anyone in need of a note-taking application.

Pros

The ease of use and reliability is great. The updates are quick and work in the background, so they don't disrupt my current work.

Cons

No cons at this time.

Advice to Others

This product offers lots of features that can be helpful for organization and collaboration, but it is also great for basic note-taking.

The software is fairly intuitive and easy to use; I like the ios app because it allows you to use the task management aspects of Evernote anywhere.

I move between client offices about half the time and find that having an electronic task list is extremely helpful; I also use the clipping function frequently to capture research that I'm doing for my newsletter or for a client project.

The Chrome extension works extremely well; I haven't had the same success with FireFox;

Evernote is a better alternative to keeping bookmarks, open browser windows or copying to a Word doc - the way I used to capture research for later use;

Likes Least

I sometimes have trouble figuring out how to use Evernote with different browers to clip items of interest

Recommendations

If you're into the task management use of Evernote then I recommend David Allen's short paper on implementing his system GTD in Evernote;

I've been using Evernote for almost one year and it is simply amazing. As a small business owner my day is a whirlwind of tasks ranging from management to marketing to maintenance and with Evernote I can stay organized without slowing down. Not only can I do the usual note taking, task lists, etc. but my notes are automatically organized and synced across my devices! And whenever I come across something online, with Evernote I can save it with just the push of my thumb. From pics to videos, audio, whatever, Evernote has me covered! Evernote won me with its ease of use, speed, and connectivity. I not only use Evernote for business, I use it for personal organization as well. Evernote is fire!

Likes Least

Evernote really is a brilliant app that knows no bounds. The only feature I would add is a task list. I can create one and that works fine but task list template would be sweet.

Recommendations

Pros

I recommend it a lot, because it is one of the best applications to organize content, notes, appointments and everything that has to do with the organization even in our daily life.

Cons

It does not allow to link more than two devices to the account, which is quite uncomfortable as we are constantly growing and many people have more than two devices, besides not being able to copy the notes and remove them from the account to be able to enter it to other devices

Evernote has been with me since it was a Windows application that simply offered a never-ending stream of notes. No cloud service, and many of the features people have come to rely on today were nowhere to be found. But it was still me favorite note taking app.

Ever since then, Evernote has continued to progress. It's now an entirely different product that has almost no resemblance to the thing I bought originally, but in doing so it's cemented its place for me as the best note taking app in existence.

Pros

Once something goes into Evernote, it's there forever (unless you delete it). You have unlimited space, with the only limit being the amount you can upload each month (and it's generous).

I was able to completely digitize every document and photo in my home within one month's limit and I wasn't even close to going over.

Evernote offers great apps for all platforms (except Linux), and also has a very nice web app. You can do everything you might want from any Evernote interface available to you.

Cons

The applications are sometimes very different from each other. The desktop application has a totally different experience than the web application. The mobile experience is somewhere in between, but that's to be expected.

If I forget to properly rename scanned documents, sometimes they sort of fall into a black hole where they're in Evernote but nearly impossible to find via searching, and looking manually for them would take a long time.

Advice to Others

Try it out! Everyone needs to come up with their own workflow for how to get things into Evernote, and what to do with them once they're there, but for most cases, it's an incredibly useful tool!

Managing notes at work is difficult, there are so many sources, meeting notes, quick thoughts, project notes or personal notes, and doing it across devices - many people still use paper and I can see why, but of the systems out there for digital notes this one is the best I've used.

Literally, the information I need at my fingertips. Also, OCR within scanned images and PDF's are awesome.

Pros

Evernote has allowed me to have key ideas, reference information and project support material available to me whenever I need it. I use it for both business and personal information management and I have always been able to find key concepts that I need in a timely manner. Worth the investment and the business option allows small teams to work together and collaborate well.

Cons

The interface does differ across operating systems and devices and this is to be expected. Evernote have been aware of this and have worked actively over the last year or so to address this issue with some success. The web interface while simpler does tend to hide some things I prefer from the old web interface and to Evernote's credit they allow you to switch between the 2 easily.

Not sure why some people seem to think it takes a bit to learn the ins and outs of Evernote. It's really quite simple and straight forward. Evernote is a great way to organize ideas and information in a way that helps prevent this information from falling into a black hole; something little paper notes seem to do on occasion.

Pros

Effortless note-taking and note-syncing. Incredible search. Great features. Clean, minimal design.

Cons

Free level of service limits members to using only two devices.

Advice to Others

Sometimes, you just need a simple app with a bunch of text notes. Evernote can do that if you want—that’s part of its beauty—but it isn’t what makes Evernote special. If you’ve tried it over and over again and can’t understand what the fuss is all about, focus its more specific features like notebooks, note links, and the web clipper. You might finally find the organizational nirvana you’ve been looking for.

I love this app and cannot live without it, but the pricing change should reflect improved performance and features. Things like simple cut and paste, faster sync response.

Pros

Evernote is my brain storage and lets me remember things from every aspect of my life.

Cons

Clipper recently changed and is not as smart as it used to be - just realized a bunch of my clips I thought had the urls in them are just the title of the page, not the url, even though i clipped the url.

Advice to Others

It works if you pay for it.

Seems to be straight forward and easy to use

Pros

I've used evernote for years. It works great. I love having my notes or scribbles always available on all my devices

Cons

I loved it when it was free. Watching the pay wall come down hurts a bit :( It's understandable that they need to make money but I'm cheap

Pros

Evernote is powerful in its tagging mechanism. It is to add tags on any pieces of information stored. This makes it easy for users to store a huge amount of information, but still easy to categorize them for browsing and searching.

Cons

Evernote needs to provide a more powerful web-based interface, such as allowing users upload files by drag and drop.
