Float is a cloud-based resource planning and scheduling solution designed for small, midsize and large enterprises. Float features drag and drop scheduling, email notifications and utilization reporting. Tasks can be assigned to team members with splitting, dragging and duplicating features. Skill tags and the people search feature helps users find people with the required skill sets for tasks.

Float allows organizations to set individual availability, personal time off and annual holidays and know the availability of each project member. The utilization of team members can be viewed and exported in CSV format. Scheduling can also be performed with multiple members as per their roles. It offers integration with Basecamp, Asana, Trello, Harvest, Slack, Zapier and others.

It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. Customer support is offered via email, over the phone and online help center.

Simple to use and perfect for scheduling

I've used it in a larger agency and individually. Definitely the best scheduling software for creative teams.

Pros

The user interface is really easy to use. You can colour code all of your project, drag, drop or duplicate tasks. It's lightweight so you can update tasks quickly without needing detailed project info.

Cons

The allocation of time across multiple days. I would prefer to do it manually and it can be a bit tricky to update time.

Designed for the employee in mind

Its amazing to find out the projects your not just your working on but company wide. It is the perfect tool for creative industries today - everyone should be using it!

Pros

Very easy to get to where you want quickly, offering frustration-free navigation. Search system is very clever as it locates not just people but departments - very intuitive. I liked how I could locate not just everyone within my specific design team but people who are undergoing internships too.

Cons

Sometimes didn't communicate with the companies HR system, so holidays were displayed when they shouldnt be. I felt frustrated at times that I couldnt go back in time further than a week. It would be great to see what ive been up to working as an intern, sometimes working across multiple projects.

An easy to use a light solution for scheduing

The main benefit float has bought is easy visibility of a common schedule across the team and importantly, its ease of use means team members actually use it.

Pros

Ease of use, speed of use, visibility of data, visibility across team, good functional mobile app version as well as the standard browser version.

Cons

Could maybe do with a couple more features, but not too many as it will lose its simplicity

Good Software

Personally I think it's a very good app. It's very easy to use

Pros

- easy access to reviewing my schedule
- easy access to find information on a specific project (i.e when the project us due)

Cons

- sometimes it's hard to read because things can get swished together and font isn't very big

Pros

Excellent Scheduling Platform

Pros

I like that Float is fast, clear, seamless, easy to use, simple, and effective. Syncing with my team is a breeze.

Cons

There is nothing that I dislike about Float. Thus far it has been a huge time-saver and has not given us any problems.

A single tool to master your team flow

Pros

Float does offer something different than other tools you may have used in the past. And it organizes things a little more friendly for visual thinkers. This can be a time saver and help your team if it means it is something they can actually use versus more noise.

Cons

Maybe not as granular as some of the fancier tools out there, but, honestly the more features that exist come with added layers of complexity that may hinder more than enable your team for success.

I use float to plan the work of 25+ developper and project manager located in different countries

Pros

Float give us a visual way to plan our week. With the interface you an easily make change without having to reorganise everything manually as Float will do it. It's also very useful to be able to gather very detailed metric in order to calculate ROI of each of our project. Finally I like the design, very modern and simple so you won't be distracted.

Cons

I would will be happy to have a Jira integration in order to directly link tickets to my task instead of putting URL in the note.

The UI is so blunt , looks like it has very limited functionality. Could love to see more features

I don't have maintain office schedule , it is being maintained on this software

Pros

As soon as I open I can my daily as well as my teammate's schedule right in front me. Tabs are easily accessible. Not cluttered with so much things.

Cons

It sends mail even on weekends. I think that's not necessary. UI is boring. Looks like basic html UI. Could add more functionality.

Easy to use resource management / allocation

Pros

Float provides us an easy to use web-based system to see our resource availability at a glance. It's easy to maintain customers and set up projects for them. Resource allocation has become much easier since we use Float.

Cons

The reporting functionality is sometimes not exactly what we would look for. It would be great if there would be more exporting functionality in proper layouts, so that the data could also be used offline.

Clean Interface, no frills, just what you need to do resource planning

Pros

Very nice and clean UX. Simple to use, you can do what you need with a couple of clicks. Smooth learning curve

Cons

I have found a little bit difficult to remove a task one you have created it. Also having always the name of latest task you have created when created a new one is misleading

Float is certainly an easy tool to use, accessible and fast to edit. It used to be cheaper although.

An overall view of the production team more clear which help us make fast choices when we are in rush or we need to find solutions. Plus a more transparent overview of the actual and future work for the team.

Pros

The fast and easy to edit is the major plus to this software. All the tools (cut, insert, slide) are helping lots to edit faster.

Cons

When you start to have a lot of persons, it becomes really slow, even if your account is always clean (archived projects). Plus, the price doubled recently, which I found it a lot if we consider the quantity of new features and updates (1) since this change. I don't see a lot of communication sharing the next plans for Float or what they are working on, it should be shared more.

Very nice interface and easy way to see an overview of what I have to do.

Orgnisation and time planning

Pros

Float gives me a great overview of what's on today's schedule. The tool is customizable and can fit my agency's needs.

Cons

The notifications are somewhat inconsistent and I believe that they can be optimized even more. Perhaps a Slack integration would be cool?

Pros

Easy to read and easy access to everyone's schedule. The platform really allows us to have a better idea of what everyone on the team is doing.

Cons

Classification of different types of employees isn't obvious. It isn't connected to our pay sheet so duplication of the work.

Float is a great solution for small businesses looking to get their schedules organised

Easy visual scheduling for the team

Pros

We love the easy drag and drop interface, the ease of use of the whole system, the API allowing us to create/sync projects and tasks from our project management system, and the ability for our team to sync their Float schedule to their iOS or Exchange calendars via the iCal feed.

Cons

We think there are some minor things that would make the software even easier to use missing from it:
- ability to drag and drop to copy a schedule from one person/resource to another (not just reallocate)
- ability to see Notes on a project by hovering over the quick note icon on the schedule
- ability to see confirmed appointments vs tentative (clients are using colours to do this at the moment)

We save time...

Pros

With Float we can export data and keep track of what we dedicate the most time to. It also updates in real time, so the creative and the production team members always have up-to-date schedules.

Cons

Sometime we have issue for refreshing the project assignments, and sometime the system is very slow.
