Built exclusively to provide a POS system for the restaurant and food service industry, Toast POS is a robust solution for all types of food service businesses, including bars, quick service, and full-service restaurants.

For restaurants with table service, servers can easily process payments and take orders tableside using Toast's handheld tablets. The Quick Order feature creates new orders as quickly as possible, ensuring a speedy transaction. Bars can track tabs, as well as look up drink recipes, helping to improve overall client satisfaction.

To improve employee morale, Toast POS presents each customer with fair tip percentages. That way, customers are more likely to tip fairly, and tip more often. The system also creates an easy way for servers to split the bill, allowing them to drag and drop each item onto the desired check. A check can also be transferred to another server, if necessary, or customers can be merged into one. By creating an easy way to support multiple check preferences, servers are able to better accommodate the needs of each guest.

Toast POS also comes fully equipped with a built-in loyalty program, making it simple for restaurants to reward their most frequent customers. As well, the system can support physical and digital gift cards, and Toast POS will work to integrate any existing gift cards, making the transition between systems entirely seamless. We really like Toast POS’s reporting capabilities, which create a way for restaurants to analyze which menu items are bestsellers, as well as helping owners keep tabs on all aspects of their business.

Very reliable and user friendly

Overall it was one of the best POSS systems I used.

Pros

Easy to teach and edit POS that is specific to the restaurant industry.

Cons

I would have liked to seen it have an employee schedule system integrated into the POS. Not just a simple time clock.

Not the best, not the worst

Overall my experience is indifferent. While I am occasionally irritated with this system other days it functions fine but overall it is still mediocre. I would recommend it to someone with a strong encouragement of researching the program to see if it is the best system for your business.

Pros

Toast POS system has a VERY short list of pros from my time using it in my restaurant. One of the only pros is the easy-to-read menu set up. While There are not many features or anything about the system that I found unique or helpful, there are not to many bad elements that stand out either. It is a simple and mediocre system.

Cons

The biggest con of this program to me is the ridiculous amount of time it takes the systems to download and log on, not just first thing in the morning but periodically throughout the day. There are also issues with set times and online orders being updated because all systems must sync variously throughout the day as well. The system is not user friendly or easy to use right away and takes more time getting use to than past systems I have used.

Toast POS Review

We use Toast as our POS and it works pretty well. Inventory could be better. But a solid product that needs some updates. Does not support Apple Pay which is not good.

Pros

Pretty simple to get around, support is very good.

Cons

Introduction and training was not the best. Some functionality could be better on exporting information.

Toast POS review

Great young team of professionals

Pros

Love that it is built on the android platform and technically you can use your android phone to run the system.

Cons

Since it is cloud based, if your Internet goes down your POS will still run but in "offline mode"

Should be better

Overall the program has promise but if you have a large menu and like your tickets in a specific format you will have difficulty trying to make it your own. I think as they become bigger and they hear more feedback they will hopefully become better at the restuarant industry.

Pros

The software has some features that are convenient such as the ability to pull up a customer receipt then either email it to them or text it to them. same with retrieving credit card payments etc. You can program new items easily. You can mark items that are low or out of stock and the server will see the prompt when they try to place an order.

Cons

The handhelds are fussy they lose connection easily which can create issues with ghost checks etc. The back office reporting is generic and feels like it's in the early stages. The credit card deposits are always off because they have a problem from when they merged American Express with Visa/Mastercard, so I always have to go back into my accounting program to change the total, this has been going on for over 3 months and they have still not fixed the problem.

i don't know if i can recommend or not

Pros

Toast POS work fine with my restaurant and the price is reasonable, I think it easy to use when you use it a lot

Cons

there is no continuous support, and the user interface is old, and it requires training at the beginning. i think they can do a lot more on user interface and user experience design

The Hand Held Device is Groundbreaking

While getting my ơn business under way, I was a gẻneral manager at Banditos Cantina. I have been in the hôspitality business a long time and mostly used Micros. I was introduced to Toast Systems and it blew my mind. The hand held device has changed everything. No more waiting for a terminal to put an order in or print a check. You can do it from anywhere in the restaurant. Increases in sales, típ and table turnovers where through the roof!

Pros

Not having to go to a terminal to put in a food or drink order is amazing! It saves so much time and hassle.

Cons

Had no problems with the system during my time as manager.

Daniel - Yes!!! The value your seeing from the Toast Go handhelds is exactly the intent we had when we built the product. We're thrilled to hear the Toast Go is helping your restaurant reduce turn times and increase tips. We're excited to continue to help you to thrive!

Great in Theory

Pros

The idea of everything they have is wonderful. I guess the best thing is they do deposit the money pretty quickly.

Cons

The service is absolutely ridiculously bad!!!! I’ve had more issues then I needed too. They have not stuck to their word that the sales team promises. They have to be reminded when they say they will do it. Many system failures, bad permission pages, just not well put together as a team.

Cons

Not a whole lot. Training could always be improved, but I like this product more than any other POS system.

Toast Review

Pros

Far and away the easiest POS software to use. If you are looking for software that anyone from the most tech savy down to the least savy, this is the platform I would recommend. The reporting features are easy to use and understand.

Cons

They lack in their customer support. They have been getting better, but as an early adopter, I saw where they grew too fast and forgot to help support their earliest customers with their issues.

Response from Toast of Toast Inc.

Replied November 2018

Hi Tyler - We're thrilled that you're finding Toast easy to use! Our technology is designed to support your business, not get in your way. Staff training is hard enough without the POS being difficult to use. Customer service is a top priority for us in 2019 and beyond. We'll continue to focus on that to ensure you and your team get best-in-class service whenever you call or log on.

Customer Service is hit or miss

Its been Ok but I have not been blown away

Pros

Relatively easy to use interface though programming new adds to menu etc can be challengin

Cons

Been with the software for 9 months - for the last couple months customer service has been hot or miss with level of competnece and responsiveness. Think its probably a talent issue. You either get someone who knows what they are doing or someone who is reading from a manual and clueless

Hi Pete - Thank you for your honest review. Admittedly, our customer service team is growing quickly and we appreciate your patience as we all get up to speed. That said, we are completely committed to your success. We will do our best to ensure you're well taken care of when you call - if we don't know the answer right away, we'll find it. The Two Face of POS Systems

I would not choose Toast if I had to do the process over again. Their system is great but their hardware does not hold up specifically their tablets and CC readers.

Pros

Great backend system that is easy to use. Hardware is great when it works but thats not often. Love having the ability to know how the restaurant is preforming when I am not around.

Cons

Replaced 7 of 9 pieces of hardware in just over a year. 3 did not last 6 months and then their replacements broke down 7 months after replacement. We were told the warranty does not start over from the time of replacements and had to buy new equipment.

Very easy to use, user friendly point of sale.

Toast is a great innovative operating system. If they worked on improving transaction times, the overall grade would improve to 5 stars.

Pros

Ease of use. The operating system is easy to learn, takes an average crew member of mine an hour to learn the whole system.

Cons

It’s internet based so the transaction times for guests are slower than other POS we have had.

Best thing since sliced bread!

Pros

Our partnership restaurant went through so many different systems and amazingly this one stuck and stuck well! Finally I felt like I owned a professional chain as if I walked in anywhere else. Streamlined all orders, keep things fluid and efficient so customers could order up and eat.

Cons

I just wish I tried out their customer service for me to give a 5/5 star review but in the time since this review I hadn’t had the opportunity come up to use it yet!

Great POS

Highly recommended, used to have to do things old school by hand.

Pros

Cloud based - so you can access it anywhere you are. The user interface is very easy to get used to.

Cons

Wish it could save CC info, or generate quotes. Serves go offline sometimes but that hapopens with any tech. They have a backup offline mode that remedies this wonderfully.
