MaximEyes, developed by First Insight, is an EHR and practice management system that can be accessed via private secure cloud or an a local server. MaximEyes is compatible with connected mobile devices, including Apple and Android smart phones.
The first to integrate with the American Optometric Association’s MORE Registry, MaximEyes also offers direct EHR PQRS reporting to CMS and the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s IRIS Registry. Users are sure to remain ICD-10 compliant with MaximEyes’ Quick Code Selection Tool and the user-defined rules engine that automatically suggests CPT and ICD billing codes. The program also includes customizable exam templates to match each client’s unique workflow. Along with automated software updates, the program offers personalized medical billing services to reduce the accounts receivable timeline to a few days and provides customer support by phone and online chat.

It's hard to recommend MaximEyes to any larger practice, though smaller ones with less data volume might not have the problems we're facing. We've been using it for years and have likely outgrown it. A new version is supposed to be in the works for 2017, but we haven't seen it yet.

Regular updates to stay in compliance
Support staff are very helpful and professional
Our multi-location, 55 person operation seems to overtax this system.
We have to use two separate pieces of software to work, not one contiguous application
Data transfers between the two sides can be problematic
Our large data set running on a file-based database cripples it when running reports
Some issues with support staff causing disruptions in production by connecting to the servers to make changes during business hours (corrected with IT controls on our side)

Maximeyes has an incredible support team. I love the customer service. Their medical records are very easy to use and highly customizable. I enjoy the software and ease of access. The practice management and optical side leaves something to be desired. It has a lot of unnecessary clicking, and is not very user friendly.

The support is amazing and they do a great job walking us through the difficult world of EMR.
When we first started with MaximEyes we went from all paper (both our records and our financials) to all electronic. We had so many questions that needed to be answered all at once and we overloaded the support team. They have since added support and all our calls are answered in a timely and helpful fashion.
Look for software that has a stable backbone to it, a history of several years in the business, a great support team, an eye on the future (cloud based, secure, compliant and innovative systems). MaximEyes has all of this in it's court. Worth a look.
