VolunteerSpot volunteer scheduling software provides online sign-up sheets and volunteer rostering, streamlines event organization and helps to increase turnout. With VolunteerSpot, event organizers can create sign-up forms and volunteer calendars. Volunteers are invited to join via a direct invitation or a link in a newsletter, website or social media post. Participants can sign up from any device without a password, and configure alerts and reminders to help them keep their commitments.

VolunteerSpot volunteer coordination tool is suited for organizations of any size. Three service plans are available: basic, premium and a special campus plan for K-12 schools. All account levels provide calendar sync, shift-swapping, contribution collection and more. Premium accounts include bonus features, such as custom branding, additional registration form fields and partner packages for state, regional and national organizations.

In addition to a full-featured mobile website, VolunteerSpot also offers a professional convenience app for iPhone and Android, and Clipboard, a virtual clipboard app for iPad.

We used VolunteerSpot for a short period of time before switching to another similar product that can be used for volunteer management and general sign ups. Our volunteers found this product difficult to use compared to the other product. For me as the volunteer coordinator it was easy to use and seemed to work well.

Ability to input recurring time slots, ability for volunteers to switch slots on their own without having to contact the volunteer coordinator

Cons

Well, it's cute that you can customize at the end.

Can't change the date once it's set. A lot and I mean a lot of emails are sent even with reminders off. The links expire too quickly. Editing is so old school and not at all user friendly or intuitive. It is not any easier than send out a mass email. It feels very outdated and it is frustrating. Even sending a help message was overly exhaustive. Usually it's your email and the question. This was every detail possible just to ask a question. Insane.

Recommendations

Not sure. Consider how easy it is, the cost, customer service and time

Recommendations

We use VolunteerSpot any time we need to organize volunteers to bring something or work a shift. The calendar is easy to create/manage for a one-day event or an entire year of events. Like the automated reminders and volunteers like that, they don't need a login and/or password. We have been using VolunteerSpot for years.

Ease of transaction. It allows me as the coordinator to organize the volunteer needs we have and then allows employees to input their information directly, therefore cutting down on the amount of time I need to spend going back and forth in communication with each person.

I don't always receive the updates when new volunteers have signed up, so I need to check the site for the most up-to-date information.

Recommendations

This is a great tool that's free and easy to use! It not only keeps things organized but provides a calendar hold for each volunteer so that they'll have the reminder on their calendar.

I feel its pluses are ease of use, computer usage is impersonal, it has been accurate for me and I can log in at any time.

Cons

I strictly used this portal for Parent Teacher Conference for a larger school. It was time consuming enter every teacher name, email address, etc. However, it was worth it! Teachers got updates and easy for them to use.

Automatic follow up with volunteers who sign up for an event!

Pros

I like the way it organizes multiple events, tracks the volunteers, sends notices/reminders to the volunteers, and also notifies me the coordinator of our volunteers. Volunteer work is essentially what our nonprofit is all about. Coordinating volunteers is a critical part of fulfilling our ability to volunteer. SignUp does it all and it's almost like have an extra administrative person on hand.

Cons

I do not have any recommendations for improvement, except one. I often hear from our volunteers that the location of where to report is missed or not noticeable. I know where it is because I set up the volunteer event -- location, duties, etc. For some who is not as familiar with the program, I guess it could seem hidden although the tab is very visible.

Everyone rants about how easy it is to use, they don't need to provide full info only if they want, they love the reminders and that they can get it on their phones.
I love it as a coordinator to just copy last years schedule and change the titles and times. The reports are great, the organization of emails, thank you's and participants is great!

Cons

I was going to start looking at how it can be combined with "The call for Papers" for our conference. Wondering if at some point we could input from a excel spread sheet? Rather than having to keying all the info just link it to a table or spreadsheet that would be updated.

It's quick, easy, detailed, and easy to share, access and edit. I am so thrilled to be able to use this software, it helps is tremendously when recruiting and setting up volunteers for our events.

Pros

We tend to have the same events every year so being able to copy then tweak the details the following week is amazing! The details, including dates, shift time, and descriptions do a great job of setting out volunteers up with all the info they will need pre-event. I like the export feature so I can go in a get all the details and set it up how I like in Excel.

Cons

We tried the updated version and we were unable to make the check in work for us for large groups - there was no easy way to edit if people brought more or less than the amount they said. I brought this to the attention of their Support Team and they were SO understanding and tried to give suggestions and be accommodating. They showed appreciation for the constructive criticism and stated they would work to improve this feature in the future.

Much easier to invite new volunteers, ensured we had volunteers for activities and that we had them in the positions needed, simplified reporting to church leadership, enabled us to message volunteers about changes.

Pros

Once an activity is created it can be copied into any other dates needed. Our needs repeat monthly, so this was a great help! The system is easy to use because it doesn't require and account and one more password to memorize! The automatic notices and reminders were also appreciated by our organizers and volunteers. And church leadership valued the reports we could generate to track who was volunteering and how many volunteer hours had been donated.

Cons

The mobile version and the desktop version work very differently, so that caused some confusion with our volunteers until I realized the problem and provided instructions for both kinds of devices.

I use this app to volunteer my time at my local animal shelter. This app makes it easier to sign up with all the other volunteers in mind. We are better able to take care of animals because this is stream lined.

As a volunteer coordinator working with hundreds of volunteers 15 to 20 times a year, I treat it as a multi-use tool - a worksheet, a roster, a plan and a summary or report post-event. It makes managing volunteers on paper so easy. At a glance, I can see how many more I need and for what task, day or event.

Pros

1) intuitive
2) it doesn't ask for a lot of unnecessary info from volunteers
3) it's quick and easy to sign up large groups
4) you can attach a volunteer waiver with the paid subscriptions
5) you have the ability to print out a roster, a check-in form or a summary

Cons

A minor fix - I would just like to see the ability to use a single email address to sign up multiple groups. For example, a coach who signed up her track team to volunteer, can also use the same email address to sign up her youth church group for the same event. Right now, the same coach needs to use two different email addresses to be able to do that.

Without this app I would spend hours coordinating and collecting information from people who want to help. We coordinate over 200 people over two days for our annual dog swim.

I love SignUp! I was able to recruit and manage over 80 positions over a 3 day period with relative ease. My volunteers got a nice reminder of their commitment and after the event I could thank them. Thanks for making this product available to us.
