Kareo is a web-based medical billing and practice management solution used by medical practitioners and physicians across the United States. The system suits small practices and billing companies. With Kareo, practices can schedule patients, confirm insurance, manage delinquent accounts and the collections process, store patient documents, develop customized reports and more.

Kareo helps practices manage the complications involved in insurance billing. Medical staff can enter patient data and verify their insurance claims immediately. Kareo also provides a schedule and appointment reminder that helps practitioners schedule appointments with their patients and send appointment reminders to reduce no-shows. The built-in messaging feature allows practices to communicate with their billers, patients and employees. AVOID

Customer support is incompetent. Their software has fatal bugs which will never be fixed. Your practice will fail because of this software. Stay away.

Pros

nothing. its all terrible when all your data is lost.

They lost all of our data multiple times over the few years we've dealt with them

Not my favorite EHR system

Pros

Support and implementation team were helpful during initial trainings. Pricing and trial were great for what it was.

Cons

Macros were not as easy to set up as they were portrayed when purchasing the software. I spent quite a bit of time free hand typing SOAP notes where other companies had much easier forms etc.

I really love there customer service they know there product so well , they will help and teach you step by step on how to use there product and I'm still thankful that this product is free for all .

First Impressions are everything

Their online training was very user friendly and they keep on task with your clinic all along the way!

Pros

You get a live person anytime you need assistance. A person that speaks clear English ! Their customer service is stellar!

Cons

Might be a bit overwhelming to a small practice like ours but they cater to all needs. We are small so some items we may not use but Kareo does show you everything from point a to b on how to use to the fullest!

Horrible Customer Support

I purchased Kareo first basically because of the price but if I had known about the poor customer support then I would have payed more money for less hassle. I ultimately cancelled the product at 2:30pm and well at 7:30pm the same day they billed me again. I called and explained my situation and well there was nothing that could be done. I would not use Kareo again under no circumstances!

Pros

The price was the only attractive aspect to the purchase.

Stay away from this software

We are leaving to another company. Stay away. Customer support is in India with no clue about techincal support

Pros

Looks good only if it works. A lot of work needed to be able to correct your claim if it gets denied or rejected

Cons

Could not get ERA electronically connected for the main insurance company. Tries more than a year with no success. Told us to sign a contract for billing then they will fix the problem. Really!!!

This product was so easy can be learn thru tutorials and reading some articles using this you make scheduling so handy you just need patients on making it .

Sometimes there is an error of kareo publishing the billing statements that is so awful and it has big impact on our business, one small make mistake can make us big suffer.

I like that we can manage our patient accounts and view their appointments. It’s also customizable for different types of appointments and tasks needed for different cases and treatment plans.

Easy startup, intuitive system, runs on all playforms; few issues with cash only accounts and support

Pros

Kareo is super easy to get comfortable with if you’ve ever used an EHR, works in most browsers, cloud based, rarely if ever have we had a system slowdown or shutdown. The scheduler, in clinic workflow, and patient communication are really well done. ERx and direct address are well integrated. Templates are numerous and easy to build and customize. Easy to use old notes to build new ones. Very easy for non clinical staff to learn.

Cons

Using Kareo in a cash only environment isn’t the easiest. They steer you to their credit card processor and don’t really make it easy to run your own. The support is mostly responsive but can be superficial.

All the necessary essentials!

Overall, great EMR and PM that is manageable on a modern platform.

Pros

Integration with PM and Telemedicine platforms are nearly seamless
Support is available and always ready to setup screen share
It actually works like it's supposed to. Rarely has technical problems where this is so common with other PMs and EMRs I've used.

Cons

Like all RCM software, it has a learning curve and can be confusing at first
There are a lot of online tools that are helpful but not always introduced until you inquire about it.
Does not work on Mac OS unless you have Virtual machine - something they should mention on the sales call

Simple and Interactive Layout

In general, Kareo helps the front desk do their job efficiently and customer support is always willing to help.

Pros

I love how easy-to-read the platform is. Kareo has everything you need in a doctor's office to organize patient data.

Cons

Automatic messaging is convenient and I thank Kareo for making it easy to do so, but sometimes it may get overwhelming and may turn off a customer if done too much.

Kareo Billing system review

My experience is neutral at the moment. We have used this system for a little over a month so will need a few more months to determine if it's worth the cost.

Pros

Gives me ability to bill also interfaces with my EHR at no extra cost.

Cons

Enrollment times are really slow going. ERA also takes long to receive even once enrollment the has happened.

Tens of thousands LOST! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!

Anyone even remotely considering this software, do your self a favor and save your self! Run!!!!

Pros

The absolute ONLY pro's to this software is the GIU and the IOS app. That is IT! A complete bait and switch!

Cons

I have over 100 ticket items that have not been addressed. Here are just a few reason this software is a complete waste of money.
1. Customer support - non existent. Weeks for anyone to get back to you just to tell you that it will be passed on to someone else.
2. Managed Billing is a complete SCAM! Tens of thousands in rejections, denials with no effort placed on rectifying. We hired a independent firm to review and their review was "This software company is scamming people". So much proof of complete neglect.
3. Billing Illegally adds "features" without your consent to charge. Then it takes 3 weeks of 100 phone calls for them to finally say, "oh, it was a mistake and we'll credit you"
4. data export - so after you just about go broke because you cannot bill with Kareo, you PAY them more money to export you data just to find out that all your data CANNOT be exported!

Do NOT give this company your bank account or electronic payment information. They will continue to withdraw funds out of your account even after they promised not to. Worst choice in EMR or EHR.
