About SPS Commerce

SPS Commerce Fulfillment is a cloud-based EDI solution, which assists retailers, distributors, grocers and suppliers with electronic document interchange. Key features include order management, status tracking, invoice management and search functionality.

The SPS platform comes with an activity dashboard, which enables administrators to visualize new orders, items ready for acknowledgment or shipping, orders missing shipments and more. It allows teams to store documents, invoices, shipping notices and accounting information on a centralized portal. Additionally, managers can connect the system with trading partners, receive notifications for task completion and automate data synchronization to ensure accuracy.

SPS Commerce Fulfillment comes with an application programming interface (API), which facilitates integration with third-party systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, SAP, Shopify, Sage 50Cloud, 3PL Central, Shipstation and more. It is available on monthly subscriptions and support is provided via phone, email and chat.

    New Updates Have Made the Site Much Easier to Use

    I have not had to reach out to anyone at the SPS Commerce site because everything has been running smoothly. Direct communication with the person from Grainger who placed the order would really be a plus.

    Recent updates have made using the confirmation of orders very easy to use. The check for errors feature is a great way of making sure everything is set correctly before sending the confirmation.
    Cons:
    The monthly cost is still pricey, but SPS Commerce has at least improved the ease of using the site.

    The people we work with and their responsiveness to our needs. [sensitive content hidden] are the greatest. It is so nice to have American based help instead of foreign call centers.
    Cons:
    Pricing, but on the other hand you get what you pay for in the long run.

    They could never get the consolidation and break out of orders and invoices to work. If they fixed this the orders didn't work. We made the switch in 2010

    Super easy to get set up with and use. Very user friends UI and they are always making improvements.
    Cons:
    Transitioning from their old platform (web forms) to their new one (fulfillment) was a bit clunky but nothing too bad. Other than that, which is over now, everything has been great.

    force customer to pay for services that has not launched

    07/02/2024, [sensitive content hidden] reached out to me and suggested that I synchronize SPS with Quickbooks so that I can save time to submit invoices to Key Foods. 08/21/2024, We signed the project agreement on 08/29/2024, [sensitive content hidden] started to discuss with me about how to synchronize SPS with QBs. Unfortunately, as of today 10/15/2024, [sensitive content hidden] has not finished the project yet. We still manually submit the Key Food invoices via SPS. There are two things I need your help with: 1. I have requested to remove Associated Supermarket Group (one of the trading partners) from the invoices. ASG did not want to use the SPS system. [sensitive content hidden] told me that he could not remove it since it was part of the "deal". If the trading partner does not want to use SPS, I can't force him to buy your services. SYS should remove the charge from day one. 2. The Automation project has not successfully launched, SPS has charged me since I signed the agreement. If the automation takes 10 years to launch, should I pay for this service that I have never used for 10 years?

    Abysmal. Whenever we have to test a relationship that requires SPS we know it will take minimum 2 months to on board due to how slow SPS is with everything.

    If you want a complete hands off and do not onboard new relationships then sure, they will be fine.
    Cons:
    Their support is slow, their error handling is misleading, they have monopolized certain companies so you HAVE to test with SPS though you use other EDI providers. It is just a bad model for a customer and for anyone with some knowledge and understanding of EDI will find it frustrating beyond beleif .

    Very Disappointed with SPS Commerce.  I was misled and miss directed

    Any other company would have done the right thing, showing that they value their customer's business, and stood behind their actions and refunded the money and helped correct what they caused.  SPS chose to ignore the problem, blame us for choosing their recommendation, not penalize their "vetted" partner or try to recover any monies spent or try to make it right, and ultimately kept every dollar spent even though those services were ultimately never set up.  I'm not sure which of those scenarios or outcomes I could possibly find the most value in SPS when you asked me to reconsider and find the value in your services. Hopefully, that will help you find the values that we couldn't in SPS services.

    Full account termination notice was given in a timely manner to [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] (customer service rep) in writing and over the phone.  I have yet to receive a response from [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] or your leadership team regarding how poorly we were treated, even after requesting one.  It is clear SPS does not value our business, nor stand behind an awful software-recommendation handpicked by SPS for us, and part of their approved partners.  SPS's recommendation cost our company over $50,000 for software that never worked and SPS services that were never used. 
    Cons:
    Actually I found out that SPS never even bothered going through with the testing or certification of the automated service which we were paying for.  Then to offer just credit for money paid just for the SPS automation and offer no compensation or offer to help obtain some kind of refund from their partner told me all I needed to know.  I have documenting my experience as a whole and writing this review.  Even your own typed words of "services can be canceled at any time throughout your term (up to 60 days prior to your renewal date)" is truly misleading and factually inaccurate.  When you put in writing "any time throughout your term" it means "any time throughout your term", and limiting any times during the term means I really can't do it any time.

    Fantastic! Since leaving TrueCommerce EDI and doing all EDI transacting with SPS we have seen a huge decrease in chargebacks related to compliance, and it has more than justified the increased cost of doing business with SPS.

    The ease of use and accessibility. The platform is incredibly user friendly and easy to learn, even if you are a novice with EDI. The support and quick responses and help on issues are a HUGE help as well. Being a small team, I am the only person who handles EDI, so having an expert ([sensitive content hidden] :)) I can reach out to directly and be able to assist with issues is truly wonderful. And all the folks we have worked with at SPS are so friendly, helpful, and transparent. They have helped us work through numerous issues and have provided incentive every time we grow our business with them. Thank you!
    Cons:
    This is very specific, but with errors received on transactions, making the data easier to understand so I can try to fix myself without involving the support team, would be great. I only see code and data and that means nothing to me not having the knowledge of an EDI expert. I think it would be a great idea for SPS to have a line at the top when you click into the error that is an "error notice" and briefly explains the issue so that a non-EDI expert can understand. Also, making the entry of cross-references a bit easier as it is very clunky and constantly kicks you out of what has been entered. For example, if I click into an item to edit and then save, the page defaults back to all customers and items instead of the choices I selected to filter it out.

    SPS Commerce is very simple and reliable to use. It's invoicing system can be individualized to customer needs and meeting all of their standards and regulations and keeps things very automated for our team!
    Cons:
    We have had a few times where the system has been kinda iffy, having to log out and back in, or do a restart. Never long lasting issues, but some small hiccups every now and then.
