Best API testing tool. Period.

I wish Postman came into existence long back. It has made our life easier regarding the creation and testing of APIs. No doubt it is a unicorn and has a bright future.

Pros:

Postman is one single solution for all your API needs. It is extremely simple to create, test, and share your APIs.

Cons:

The API URLs we have tested will be deleted after you leave Postman, meaning you have to enter the API URLs every time you want to try. This is a bit annoying and should be addressed.

Reasons for choosing Postman

Once familiar with the platform, it becomes easy to operate, and its ease of use and features differentiate it from its competitors.

Pros:

Postman is hands down the easiest API test you can do. You can easily navigate around the software and see all the results you expect. While you can use other tools, Postman just makes it simple and easy to use.

Cons:

I don't have any dislikes here the software is great and it does what I expect it to do.

I chose postman due to its API simplicity. I can use VSC but its not as simple and straight forward.

Pros:

Postman is vital to prepare test campaigns, it is relatively easy to use, and consumes very little processing from the host testing machine

Cons:

The search engine in Postman is terrible. It does not look inside REST body payloads for example. The management of the collections is cumbersome! I would like to have in Postman something like the IDE tools provide, such as workspace and projects management (files location management and refactoring tools)

Great tool to test REST API calls.

Within Our Organization, We have been using the Postman tool for API testing by a couple of teams internally overall it helps us to minimize the development time.

Pros:

It allows our QA and Application Support teams to simplify the methods of developing APIs. GUI is quite straightforward and user friendly. The free plan has it's limited features but most helpful.

Cons:

Limited for REST API Testing. And it is still not supporting for Hessian protocol.

It has predefined templates that allow our QA Engineers to create test scripts quickly.

Easy to use, a must have for debugging purposes

I had to test and implement different APIs, so there's no better way to debug and consume a RESTful service than set up your operations and get the results right away in your screen.

The export/import features when you need to backup your computer and re-install all your workspace It's really easy to use and set up your REST operations. Manages different environments My favorite feature is the collections to organize your different projects

Cons:

It takes significantly more time to load the app than other products I'd like it to personalize more with different color schemes.

At the time I made the switch SoapUI didn't have a way to organize the workspace as Postman does

The most useful instrument for the API testing in your business

My overall experience with Postman has been positive. It’s an intuitive tool for API testing with powerful features like automated testing, detailed request/response analysis, and team collaboration. However, it can become slow with large requests, and sometimes syncing issues arise in team workspaces. Best tool for your API testing

Postman is by far the best tool for API testing. I use to not only test my APIs but also to document all the API endpoints that I have with their respective categories. This tool is a must-have for any backend developer.

- Postman provides a very intuitive UI to test your APIs. It also provides almost all the available headers in the request that enable you to test your APIs. - The best part is you can get code in your programming language for the API call that you have just tested. - It also provides a workspace feature where you can group similar requests that may be related to one application. - Another big advantage of Postman is that it offers collections of APIs for various popular services, including Google Maps, PayPal, Twitter, and more. This is a fantastic feature as it saves much time that would otherwise be spent researching these API documents.

Cons:

You must log into the Postman before saving a workspace or importing existing API requests. This becomes problematic as people who work in enterprises hesitate to enter their work email IDs in non-authorized vendors. It may be hard for someone new to programming to interact with the interface as it has too many options, I don't however count it as a con as Postman does the job well for API testing.

Highly recommended tool for API development and test.

The tool has significantly streamlined my API development and testing workflow, making my job as a developer much more efficient. I appreciate its intuitive interface, powerful features, and collaborative capabilities. While there are a few areas where improvements could be made, the benefits of using Postman far outweigh the drawbacks.

I've been using Postman for a while now and I absolutely love it! It's made my life as a developer so much easier. The interface is super user-friendly, and I can easily build and test different API requests. I also love that I can save my requests into collections and share them with my team. It's a great tool for collaboration and makes our workflow much smoother.

Cons:

when I'm working with really large collections or complex test scripts, it can get a bit slow. It would be great if there were more customization options, too. And finally, I wish it didn't always require an internet connection.

Essential tool for ad-hoc testing of backend endpoints. Complete feature set, robust and reliable.

Cons:

Scratchpad has been removed and now requires an account to use. Backs up all the requests/collections/credentials to their servers!

Postman simplifies the process of creating, testing, and documenting APIs. The APIs can be organized into Collections, which makes managing requests and documenting them easier and effortless. Workspaces enable efficient team collaboration, making it a versatile tool for both individual and collaborative development.

Cons:

There's nothing I dislike about Postman. While the free tier has some limitations for collaboration, it hasn't been an issue for me.
