Pros:

Being able to control the WatchGuard Firebox from the Cloud is essential in setting up and diagnosing VPN's between sites. The interface is easy to use and changes are easy to deploy.

Cons:

NOTHING! Everything that was required this box does easily and without continued supervision.

They stopped making their small units, so sub-10 employee companies need proper protection that is not "consumerware".

We've been using WatchGuard firewall appliances since 2010, and they are very reliable and efficient.

Cons:

I find their management software to be antiquated and very outdated! They have done a horrible job when it comes to modernizing the WatchGuard System Manager and using the Policy Manager and Firebox System Manager is an exercise is a very frustrating exercise! Contacting support is a painful process. We don't have a super expensive support subscription so it's time intensive to open a ticket with WatchGuard technical support. I also have a very difficult time wading through their support or community pages to find relevant information. Overall, it's very frustrating.

Watchguard - Enterprise feature for SME Money

We started with a desktop model and over the years worked up to a rackmount M series. We always received good support for the few issues we had and always received what I felt were excellent value upgrade and tradeup prices

Pros:

For us it offers many enterprise level features at at SME price. The reliability of he hardware is oustanding - we had one hardware issue in 10 years and it was swapped overnight.

Cons:

The UI isn't sparkling but it does the job. The biggest shortcoming we had was lack of easy integration with Azure AD accounts using non Domain joined devices.

The required feature set at a good price. Not the cheapest by definteley the best value. We loved the features of the Palo but it was out of budget. The others were broadly the same as each other but we felt overall the Watchguard offered the best value. Being well regarded in the market helped too.

Reasons for switching to WatchGuard Firebox

We were using SBS 2003 and Zone Alarm The SBS product was going EOL and we needed a replacement. After reveiwing several options I went with a desktop T70. Never looked back! Over the years we moved up the range as our requiremnents grew and there was always a suitable model available.

My experience with watchguard so far

I have been able to install quite large deployments, clusters and branch offices and the overall experience has been very good. They are every stable and tech support have assisted me on various tasks.

Pros:

The firewalls very flexible, easy to configure and can work in every scenario. Cluster setups are every stable.

Cons:

nothing really. What can be improved is the ssl vpn client which occasionally needs to be reinstalled on some PCs as it stops working

Unable to write one access list and apply to many rules indepenantly.

The ease in managing the configuration of the various features and the quality of the work that the firewall does. Even in complex realities, you can always manage everything with great ease

The distribution part. There should be more distribution partners and be more structured in the territory.

Easy to setup, both from the web management and from the management tools. Using and maintaining the firewall is straighforward. The facility to have backup copies of th config is very good for when it comes to satisfy company change management procedures.

Cons:

Renewals especially for higher end products are costly.
