Pros:

I discovered SproutVideo when my previous platform failed me. I find them easy to use, efficient, reasonably priced, but most of all, their customer service and support are stellar. In this age of anonymity, having responsive people to contact when you need help is amazing and refreshing.

Cons:

I haven't yet run into anything about SproutVideo that I don't like. The platform provides all of the features I need.

They had NO customer service. I was in danger of losing material and could get NO response to messages and pleas for assistance.

Looks better than it is.

We use Sproutvideo as a private platform to display our marketing video content, however upon realizing the issues with mobile wordpress display we attempted to delete account. Only to enter into this odd cancelation trial.

Pros:

Easy to set up, and it has clean presentation. Not difficult to get up and running with the interface that sprout provides. Pretty well straight forward with video uploads and a few code snippets to share your videos.

Cons:

The display is not as simple as it appears. Of course the embed, share, etc. code/url will generate quite easily for sharing. The problem comes when you realize that many wordpress sites will not display on mobile without digging into the source code of your site, not for a beginner. Then the absolute worst is when you attempt to cancel subscription. You can easily assume you have completed the process....which seems like a 10 minute lecture & quiz; only to be hit with your payment the following month. Turns out the very last question in what seems like a marathon must be completed.

We switched from youtube in an effort to gain control over our video. Our clients do not like the ability of social media platforms to censure content.

As it so happens, you encountered a bug with Safari, which is unrelated to our platform and unfortunately out of our control. We did provide workaround solutions in our support correspondence and also reported the bug to Safari. We refunded your most recent bill in light of the difficulty you encountered when closing your account. We also reviewed the cancellation process to make sure it's as straightforward as possible. Smooth, Reliable Video Hosting

Overall, my experience has been very positive. It’s a great platform for hosting and sharing videos securely, especially for marketing and training content. A few small feature updates like timed previews would make it even better.

The platform is easy to use, reliable, and cleanly designed. Uploading, organizing, and embedding videos is simple, and the analytics are helpful for tracking engagement. I also like how professional the video player looks and how smoothly it runs.

Cons:

I wish there were an option to let viewers preview a short portion of a video (like the first 30 seconds) before being asked for their email address. Right now, you have to gate the entire video, which can reduce conversions.

Great Platform!

I do not use all the features. I create online courses and I use Sprout to host any video components. I embed the video link into the course and it is transparent to the course taker that they have left my site. I appreciate how easy it is to do that and that the videos show full-screen.

Simple and straightforward to use. I can embed videos in a course and and they are integral to the rest of the material.

Cons:

Sometimes it seems to take a bit longer to process a video once uploaded. Not a big deal considering I am not uploading very many videos at a time.

My videos are fully protected with advanced streaming and security technologies, making them impossible to download using conventional tools—even Internet Download Manager (IDM). By leveraging encrypted streaming protocols like HLS with AES-128 encryption, tokenized URLs, and server-side authentication, each playback session is unique and time-limited. Even if someone tries to capture the stream, the video content is fragmented, encrypted, and tied to specific user sessions. As a result, IDM and similar downloaders cannot detect or intercept the video source. This ensures that my content remains safe, secure, and accessible only through authorized platforms

Sharing my private videos is completely secure, thanks to robust privacy controls and advanced encryption methods. Great for secure video hosting, but not ideal for Patreon integration

SproutVideo is easy to use and gives good control over who can watch my content. However I always end up going over my bandwidth limit, which adds to the cost. On top of that some competitors offer native playback in the Patreon app, similar security features, as well as more bandwith and storage, for a lot less money once it goes over 100gb.

What I like most is the peace of mind it gives me when sharing videos on platforms like Patreon. Compared to using something like Google Drive, SproutVideo offers a much more secure solution that helps protect my content from being easily leaked. The platform is also very user-friendly and straightforward to set up, making the video upload and management process smooth and efficient.

Cons:

The biggest downside for me is the lack of compatibility with the Patreon app. Videos hosted on SproutVideo can't be watched directly in the Patreon iOS app so my subscribers are forced to log into their Patreon account on Safari in order to watch my content. This makes things a bit more complicated and can be frustrating for my viewers.
