This company truly cares about customers

We have been using Seraphim for a little over a year now. The migration of information from our former ChMS was quite simple and they were careful to make sure that everything was correct. It wasn't just a dump of data, but rather a person worked closely with us to be sure that everything transferred well. The features of the program have transformed the way we "do ministry" and we are still adding aspects of Seraphim to our daily lives every week. They are at the cutting edge of church technology and are adding and adapting features all the time. You can tell they are serious about getting this right and staying on the front lines. Plus, the user interface is very intuitive and clean looking. It makes even the most complex of tasks seem quite easy. By far though, the standout feature of this company is its customer support. Their website interface for customer support is informative and helpful, but the personal touch is where all the difference is made. When you call, you talk to a person that knows you and knows how to solve your issue. I once had a problem with a smartform for a large event we were hosting and the PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY spent time out of his weekend to make sure it was solved (Saturday and Sunday). Even if you do find a piece of software that works better, which I don't think you will, I can guarantee you won't find a company that cares more about making things right and keeping you happy with their product. That is invaluable!

Pros

Their customer service is second to none!

Cons

(To my understanding, they are fixing this by May 2017) Currently the software is completely cloud based and runs on Silverlight. It does not easily work with Chrome, although there is a workaround. Also, the display does not work completely on qualities less than 1080p. That was a bit of a hassle for some of our older monitors/computers.

Hi Mark - thanks for the review. We are excited to partner with your church. We are moving off of Silverlight as we speak, in the next few months this issue will be behind us. Our next platform will take us places we could never go previously. Thanks for all your great ideas over the last few months.

Seraphim is probably the easiest church management tool a small or medium sized church could start.

Pros

The most appealing part of Seraphim is the ability to create your own filters (queries) for people based on a wide variety of criteria. Our church relies on automation as much as possible to reduce administrative paper-pushing so we have pushed this feature to the limit. Using the tools to create "groups" (queries) and even groups of groups is pretty straight forward and makes it easy to find answers to questions and figure out what you need to do with people. And while it is not a "feature," having all of the different elements of church management under "one roof" greatly simplifies administration. Before we had a dozen different systems and processes for a dozen different ministry needs. Now we use Seraphim for (mostly) everything and it makes data management a lot easier.

Cons

The desktop platform relies on MS Silverlight which is not only clunky but discontinued by MS and incompatible with a lot of browsers (like Chrome). The mobile version of Seraphim does not have the administrative tools so the church admin has no choice but to use Seraphim on Silverlight. Possibly related to the Silverlight platform is the little irk that the dashboard is not responsive and therefore requires a minimum monitor size of around 17" to access all the tiles and fields. This can be a problem for a small church like ours that functions off of laptops and older computers with small monitors.

Hi Allen, thanks for taking the time to send us a review. You'll be happy to hear that we are moving off the Silverlight platform to support both PCs and Macs in amazing ways. This will also allow us to do way more from an interface and responsiveness perspective. Your feedback helps us be better. Thank you for all the great ideas you have sent to us over the last year. Keep them coming!

Swing and a miss

The team at Seraphim are great and will help you in any way they can. But, you must have the time available to carve out training sessions, which isn't always available. If I had to do this over again I would go with a more generic and less complex program more fit for the small church. I regret leading my church toward this software package.

Pros

Lots of ways to connect your people and ministries. The directory and other features once set up can empower Team Leaders to further develop and organize their teams

Cons

This program is not intuitive. One must spend time to break the code. Given that most churches are 150 members or less that means the Pastor must use precious time to use this program and stay abreast to the changes. If it were more intuitive there wouldn't be an issue. But, each time I return to work on seraphim I find myself discovering how to make fire once again.

Support is wonderful. I gave 4 stars due to time difference--it would help if you had longer hours.

The ability to take attendance of our Small Groups separately, Safe Check-In, emailing and texting directly from the program.

Pros

Because it's web-based, others can use it. This will move our church forward and bring us more up-to-date.

Cons

I've experienced the process of on-boarding and training to be very time-consuming and complicated. Because Seraphim will substitute for our current phone app and online giving, we considered that in the cost (thinking the previous systems would be able to be discontinued immediately). However, 6 months later we are still paying for both as the transition in still not complete. Also, because Seraphim is web-based and we are in a small town, we have frustration with slow speed. In addition, some of my data did not make it in the transfer (such as start dates for members). This is quite inconvenient.

Thanks for sending us a review. Seraphim tries to make training and support paramount in our experience and sometimes we go too far. I'd like to reach out to you to understand what we missed in migration of your data - we want you to have everything you need. Seraphim supports unlimited migrations and imports, so it's not too late to solve this.

We had to compile information from several data bases and it was an easy transition.

All of our info is in one spot. Easy access from anywhere. We love that our members can use this information as well.

Pros

Great customer service! It is also accessible from any computer. I love that I can find everything I need in one place instead of searching through different databases or files. Our congregation has enjoyed the ability to access information via their phones.

Cons

It takes multiple steps to use some of the features. This took a bit of getting used to. Some of the process didn't make sense to me at the beginning but now that I use it regularly it is easier to remember the steps.

Hi Cherri - Thanks for taking the time to send this to us. We've worked hard to integrate everything together and make it easier for the back office to see everything in one place without a lot of different views. We are constantly listening to feedback and altering our processes to make them more simple. Glad to hear your transition was easy.
