About FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall

FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall, part of the Fortinet Security Fabric, is a firewall solution with automated threat protection. It is designed to protect organizations from both internal and external threats, such as attacks, malware, and other vulnerabilities. The NGFW provides SSL inspection, application control, advanced visibility, and other security capabilities.

This solution offers an intrusion prevention system (IPS) that identifies and proactively blocks malicious traffic. The can IPS monitor and inspect incoming traffic for vulnerabilities in order to take the appropriate action, which may include blocking access or quarantining hosts. NGFW inspects traffic using high-level speed, scale, and performance to prevent a negative user experience or site downtime.

I like the security features that it offers and the SDWAN feature that comes built-in out of the box without any additional license needed.

Cons:

There is no auto-arrangement of policies based on how specific a policy is.

FortiGate NGFW

My Fortigate experience is very special. This product helped me to set up a first point of defense to prevent cyber-attacks as well as control the access of users within the network. And best of all, it supports routing and VPN services.

One of the best firewalls I've ever used, It provides a very simple, easy-to-use user interface. A wealth of security and encryption features, and support routing as well. And the best feature for me is that there is a huge community in the world to discuss the problems facing the user and share experiences.

I think I did not encounter any problems or negatives during the period of my use.

We are able to control the sites visited by our users and ensure that the staff are using most of their time doing what the business expects from them. By doing so we have ensured that no one visits sites that can pose a danger to our network and systems.

Pros:

You are able to integrate it with you Active Directory and create different group of users who can access different sites that is you can create a group who have access to Youtube and other Social media sites and create another group who have no access to thee sites but can access other sites. The product is easy to use. The integration was easy.

Cons:

It has alot of features and other we are still not using. All aspects of the product are easy to use. Integration with our business processes and systems were easy.

It was easy to setup and manage, the cost was ok, the features it had matched with our growing business.

The system was difficult to manage and had limited features to support our growing network. Also the product was no longer supported by the Vendor.

I like below services on FortiGate and which it becomes better from others, 1. IPSec - We can connect multiple site to site. 2. SSL VPN - We can establish the connection between client computer to organization network through FortiGate firewall.

Network security device - NextGen

Remote access is simple and the included client works with MacOS Windows and IOS devices. The level of security works well for most clients and the authentication with AD/LDAP makes the solution easier to deploy.
