About Trivia

Trivia is a team communication application that helps remote teams using Slack, Google Chat and Microsoft Teams facilitate peer-to-peer connections using social games. Businesses can create custom quizzes with multiple-choice questions and set schedules to deploy on preferred channels for selective employees.

Features of Trivia include game scheduling, workspace activity reports, quiz leaderboard, custom polls and more. Administrators can configure the Water Cooler channel on Slack or Microsoft Teams, choose a category of conversation and facilitate social networking through discussions, peer-to-peer introduction and debates. Additionally, users can add Trivia bot to chat rooms on Google Chat and engage through games such as anagrams, this or that, gotcha!, and Pictionary.

Pricing is available on monthly subscriptions and support is extended via FAQs, videos, live chat and other online measures.

Fun, engaging, flexible

I think Trivia is an excellent add-on for Slack or Teams to allow participants to have fun while working. I like that the games warn you before they begin, and that they are not too time-consuming. Definitely worth it!

Pros:

I like how flexible the software is. As the administrator, you can schedule random trivia or games to go out to your participants as often as you'd like. As a user, you can also initiate games on your own. I like that it provides a quick, fun break for employees, while also helping them get to know each other. My most favorite option is the ability to create personalized quizzes just for your participants.

Cons:

Some of the games are too quick. The trivia only gives you 5 seconds to answer, which just wasn't enough time. I looked for ways to change how long participants were allowed to answer, but could not find a way to change the time on preset questions.

Trivia is a fun tool that facilitates group interaction by linking to MS Teams, Slack or Gmail. As an MS Teams user, I can select a specific group I want to start a game. Anyone in the group can take part and interact via the platform. There are hundreds of games to choose from and to suit different needs whether it is for a team building activity with workers working remotely or family and friends lime with persons in different location.

Cons:

I don't see an option to play games without linking to another platform. The number of platforms to which you have the option of linking is too limited.

Too hard to use

Added this to our slack and tried to use it during our remote video call all hands meeting, but had big troubles getting the link to share with everyone and everyone being able to login.

Assumed as it was integrated with slack so would message everyone a link they could play Trivia but apparently it does not work like that... What's the point of a Slack integration then!?

The water cooler and unpopular opinions are the most popular with us because they run all day long so people don't have to respond immediately.

It's an interesting way to create passive conversations between employees. Conversations that we wouldn't normally have. Not everyone participates but it's fun for the group that do. I like the scheduling element too.

Cons:

The number of reports and thread mentions can get annoying because there are soooo many.

Reasons for choosing Trivia

One of my colleagues had heard of it. We use Donut and have had really positive feedback among the team so we thought this could be an extension to keep people engaged.

The integration for our business with Trivia was incredibly simple and has absolutely blown away my expectations for it. The engagement for my employees has been outstanding and the ease of use in which it auto-setup a running 5:30 showdown has my employees clamoring for more.

Honestly, there isn't much I don't like. Perhaps the price, but we haven't even needed to explore that for much because it's been so worth it.
