Our experience with RAVE Alert has been great, the team has supported us in growing and developing our emergent communications system.

Pros:

That it is easy to set up and deploy, we can quickly send a mass number of communications with just 3 clicks

Cons:

Not really, there have been a few bumps in the road but everything was quickly taken care of by the RAVE team.

Great Product, Easy to Use and Reliable

We have had good results with Rave. Their customer support team is also very reliable and we have worked with them on a few minor things since implementation. They were very quick to help resolve the issues we had. The product has worked well. Also, the communication regarding maintenance windows or program enhancements has been nice.

Pros:

Integrating this platform into our existing procedures was fairly painless. Rave, using standardized file formats, made it easy to upload our existing lists, etc. Integration with Smart911, the availability of a smartphone app, and other features made it a clear choice to switch to this vendor.

Cons:

We have, so far, not found deficiencies.

Reasons for switching to Rave Alert

Rave's pricing was very competitive and their additional features fit what we were looking for (e.g. smartphone safety app, chat availability, Smart911 integration, etc.

How quick the notifications are received

Cons:

I don't like how the system times itself out. I find myself continuously having to log into the system during my work shift. Also the reports are not good. I need to run a report/stats on how often we send emergency maintenance

RAVE Alert for Colleges?

RAVE offers cost effective solutions for mass notification. They are competitive with other alerting companies and offer a product that works. We have not experienced interruptions in service. We have some concerns with using RAVE but overall we are happy with the product.

Pros:

I like the pricing model. We don't pay per call fees and the pricing packages are straight forward and easy to understand.

Cons:

The fields are still very much geared toward college campuses or educational settings. There are questions that city's or even other type industries wouldn't use. They also tout their 911 feature that allows dispatch to see information for anyone subscribed. The problem is that if your dispatch center does not subscribe to Smart 911 then dispatch will not see their information. RAVE does not offer platforms that don't promise that to anyone inputting their information therefore, it gives people a false sense of hope. I've voiced this concern and was promised it would be addressed but after several years subscribing to RAVE they have not changed that.

I-info charged high fees per call/text/ email etc. sent. Their pricing structure is confusing and not straightforward. They rely on customers to build their system by paying for features that they may not currently offer and have a waiting list of features that may or may not eventually become available.

Easy to use to get emergency notifications out

We use Rave Alert for emergencies only, including automated weather alerts. It works well autoamted and set on it's

Easy to set up alerts and send in emergencies. Templates can be turned on or off for users with the new role based access control, which is a great way to limit accidental messages.

Cons:

Snap send has some limitations on flexibility, but easy to work around.

Pros:

Easy to use product and a critical component to have for emergency situations. We've also used this to notify our community on closures, delays or other important messages we need to make sure people received.

Cons:

It works and works well, but could have an update on usability. Rave recently updated the look/feel, which is great since it hasn't been done in about 8 years. It's still very menu/drop-down heavy and could have a cleaner look.

Once familiar the steps aren't that difficult.

Cons:

Using it on the iphone. Where the new platform is better it's still hard to edit templates on the phone. I do wish there was a spell checker in the subject line (that might have gotten fixed with the new organization.)

Cons:

I have had issues with logging in several times if I logged out while in a different department. It seems this could be streamlined for users who have access to mulitple sites.

Long-time Administrator

I have been an administrator for two different university's spanning over 10 years. It have been one of the most popular and reliable systems during that time. Their customer support is top-notch, whenever they are needed. However, some of the newer systems are much more visually appealing and have a more streamlined interface. Rave has recently updated the interface, improving it's functionality.

Effective emergency communication and notification tool

We have mass notification within our agency which decreases off duty response time. Our community appreciates knowing when an emergency is happening in their neighborhood.
