About DISKOVER

The managing of supply chains can sometimes be a nuisance due to unreliable forecasts, lacking product availability and still excess inventory, unreliable suppliers, bad order proposals with wrong dates and wrong quantities, miserable master data, and more issues. Imagine there is a software tool that reduces all these annoyances to a minimum. Sounds too good, but with the right approach, it is possible! DISKOVER generates statistical and AI forecasts, balances product availability with inventory and provides adequate order proposals. It also helps maintain the planning and replenishment parameters automatically. DISKOVER is kind of a personal assistant to the planner. It takes a lot of routine work off your shoulders, asks teams when decisions need to be taken, and provides the necessary information.

Key to this magic is a simulation engine, a rule set engine, and an optimization engine, which all run in the background and permanently check, test, and improve planning decisions. The simulation engine uses the broad empirical data stored in the ERP system to autonomously improve forecasts or identify the best planning parameters. Perfect tool for tuning your supply chain and inventory management and optimize your forecasts

I work as a consultant with the tool and use it to work on all supply chain management issues, from improving forecasts, sales and operations planning, material requirements planning, process automation and automated master data maintenance to supply chain and logistics strategy.

Pros:

It is fun to work with the tool and turn the cogs to continuously improve the efficiency of the supply chain.The dynamic interaction of markets, items and planning algorithms has become so complex that it is hard to think through it and find the right settings from experience. The simulation engine in DISKOVER is a fantastic tool for testing strategies and solutions. You can use it in such a way that it even automatically finds the optimal parameter settings. And the Ruleset Engine acts like an expert system in which the complete logistics strategy of a company can be mapped.

Cons:

I like practically everything about it. But what I observed is that some planners who are used to make replenishment decisions manually dislike the automation features because they fear that they have less possibilities to play the game in their own way. But this perception is not really true. If the users are given the appropriate rights, they can still override everything manually in DISKOVER. But fortunately the tool is so good that you don't have to be granted these rights.

This phenomenon always baffles us as well, since DISKOVER is meant to lighten the daily work load of the users - which will naturally require to shift responsibilities towards the tool and off the user's back. But usually, once the users have experienced the results of letting DISKOVER do its job, they relax and appreciate their virtual co-worker.

Hervorragendes Tool mit extremer Arbeitserleichterung

Wir konnten mit dem System, als auch mit den Kollegen schon viele kleine und größere Projekte realisieren. Das Wissen, welches die Kollegen von Diskover Seite mit rein bringen ist extrem wertvoll für uns. Es wird nicht "nur" umgesetzt, es wird auch hinterfragt. Es macht Spaß mit den Kollegen von Diskover zu arbeiten.

- Prognosefaktor- Regelwerke- Berichtsfunktion- Materialplanung- Prognoseberechnung- Parameterberechnung

Cons:

- es wäre toll, wenn man einen Bericht mit mehreren Reitern erstellen könnte. Je Bericht wird eine Excel Datei versandt. Es ist nur möglich einen Reiter zu versenden. Wäre z.B. hilfreich für verschiedene Auswertungen für den gleichen Verteilerkreis, der zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt über mehrere Berichte informiert werden soll. Bisher müsste also je Auswertung ein Bericht ( = jeweils eine Mail) erstellt werden- es wäre klasse, wenn man für mehrere Artikel überprüfen könnte, welches Regelwerk bei einem bestimmten Feld gezogen wird. Z.B. "Überprüfung 'Lagerhaltig = ja/nein'". Ist auf Artikelebene per Doppelklick und "Regelwerksüberprüfung" möglich. Es wäre klasse, wenn man in der Prognosesicht auf alle angezeigten Materialien (je nach Filter) die Regelwerksüberprüfung durchführen könnte. Bisher kopiere ich den Filter pro Regelwerk in die Prognosesicht um gegenzuprüfen welche Artikel durch das Regelwerk fließen. Oder ich kontrolliere dies über den Job "Regelwerksanwendung".- ein Ticketsystem wäre optimal. Cluster (Navigation/Neues Add-on/Beratungsbedarf, etc.)

DISKOVER offers a brought variety of showing and using optimization potential. By using this software we have now the ability to have a robust data set up in our planning processes.

Pros:

Ability to be adapted to reflect 100% our needs in regard to planning, optimization and tranparency. Implementation was a very constructive process, customer support ist very helpful. DISKOVER brings a huge benefit to us.

Cons:

DISKOVER is run by a rather small company. As this might be a pro during implementation etc., there is always the risk that some key players might leave the software company and knowledge could get lost

Easy to use, fast to learn

„Our key experience with DISKOVER: We saw a screenshot and immediately found all the information we needed. The special thing about the cooperation with SCT GmbH: The developers take up ideas very quickly and implement them just as quickly. That is customer-oriented work!“

The visual structure is clear, easy to adapt to users wishes and gives you on one look all information that are needed. Also jumping from one view to additional information connected the with item is easy.

Cons:

Setting of rules is so easy that you might create too many and finally loose control and view.

The defined rule sets for the planning parameters and the different procurement strategies actually contain the expert knowledge and experience of our material planners and controllers. Which makes the results of planning and scheduling consistently repeatable and reproducible.

Cons:

Diskover is always being developed further and you can express your wishes. Most of our requirements have been implemented in the programme.

Pros:

Due to DISKOVER SCO, we now have a virtually unified, global production site, which has increased transparency enormously. We can now in- or decrease inventory levels much more precisely. Plus, we can monitor the company’s current state and thus determine the next steps. Our inventory goals, which are connected to our promise of delivery and the company’s KPIs, are now determined clearly, as needed and transparently.

Cons:

There are no negative attributes i would take into consideration.

We implemented discover in 200+ subsidiaries and saved tons of time managing our high mix stock replenishment without the manual work we needed before.

Cons:

It needs some time to gain historical data, but once in place for some months it really kicks in
