About xTiles

xTiles is a visual note-taking application that enables you to replace several tools at once. This cross-platform solution is suitable for use on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, laptops, and PCs.

The tool for thought is aimed at creative people and teams engaged in creative works. The functionality of xTiles combines the best of the text editor and whiteboard, allowing you to arrange the information inside the tiles in a suitable way.

The main advantage of xTiles is the possibility to jot down any thoughts that pop up in your head, collect any type of content & visual information, and then seamlessly convert different data into a usable form. With the capabilities of this application, you can efficiently structure and fine-tune all your ideas in one place and later work with them in a personal or collaborative mode.

This tool has a simple and straightforward feature set that doesn't require extra effort to become proficient. The simple, intuitive user interface helps you learn the features quickly so you can create documents for a variety of purposes in a couple of clicks. Marketers, researchers, writers, students, and C-levels often utilize xTiles.
The application's k...

ey features are the creation of multidimensional documents where you can capture, visualize and store ideas. Here one can add links to articles and videos, pictures and screenshots, text, and quotes, and build connections between content in the way that works best for oneself. The tool for thought helps with project and content management, file sharing for teams, editing, research, strategy planning, remote work, note-taking, enhancing personal productivity, etc. With the drag-and-drop interface, you can organize the blocks within your document to better see the big picture and enrich your perception of the information on the limitless canvas. xTiles also provides users with a side-by-side view of the document and allows others to review content swiftly, clearly, and seamlessly when viewing the file. This application has a browser extension, so a one-click web clipper lets you keep articles, images, web content, emails, etc. You can also access content instantly or capture data from other applications with the spotlight feature. And thanks to the thoughtful design of xTiles, even a rough outline of ideas and notes doesn't look messy, enabling you to sort through snippets of scattered information quickly.

    Pros:
xtiles allow me to structure my data as I want. I can create pages, tabs, and blocks without the mess on a single board. Creating subpages for describing items in detail is a helpful feature for arranging my data and thoughts.
    Cons:
I'm looking forward to a macOS desktop app

    Reasons for switching to xTiles

The xtiles app is a simple, and lightweight tool with a fast search. There are no mess of buttons and features that I have to learn.

    Pros:
I like the way we can organize our pieces of content in a document using tiles and tabs. We normally separate tabs for drafts and clean copies for our creatives. Subpages also help to store some inspirations and personal notes. A big plus is the ability to comment and get notifications when someone comments on your notes which is really handy for collaborative work.
    Cons:
Lack of rich text formatting. I'd like to have at least several kinds of fonts and text colors. Because eventually our text content most often has different fonts, colors, and sizes, so it looks uncompleted in the tool.

Was hoping I would love it... but I did not.

    4

xTiles was suggested by a couple of the big podcasters I frequently listen to. From the promo hype it seemed that it would be a lot more straightforward and user friendly than it actually was. I tried xTiles for awhile to see if I could get used to it and paid to upgrade to premium. I found that I kept just reverting back to my old Google Calendar and Keep because I would get frusterated trying to navigate and click through the area I was trying to find on xTiles. Lots of clicks in just to do simple things. I do think for a team environment, or for larger project management that xTiles would likely be an excellent platform, but for basic personal use it ended up being too much. I do really appreciate that when I contacted customer support asking about a refund I received a quick and helpful response, and the refund was back in my account within a few days. Fortunately I was still within the refund period for a yearly subscription, and they honored that a processed quickly.

    - Lots of options for Customization - Lots of bells and whistles to use for a variety of tasks/projects - Visually appealing with options to see layouts that encorporate the whole big picture, or drill down to specifics - Lots of templates to choose from or to use as inspiration to create your own
    Cons:
    - Lots of options and functionality also means lots of steps and clicks - Leans to the expensive side for just my own personal use - Doesn't fully integrate well between desktop/laptop

    Reasons for switching to xTiles

Heard positive things from promos on podcasts and I liked the thought of more customization options and layout options

The tool for streamlining my content campaign planning and execution

    5

So far I have a positive impression of the tool. I'm not sure I've discovered all the possible usecases of it, both for my work and for personal. I currently use it for tasks like preparing our blog publications and social media posts which have been covered well with xTiles.

    Pros:
I've been able to cut my time spend organizing publication materials for our blog almost in half. The ability to structure content with features like tiles drag&drop, combining tiles and nesting documents with my tiles is great. I like that I can collaborate with my team too. Together we use xTiles for planning our sprints.
    Cons:
I also use xTiles as a personal note-taking app and it really lacks a decent mobile version for this. Except for this, I haven't faced any other drawbacks.

    Pros:
I like how easy it's to use the tool. I can quickly break my findings into fragments using the cards (tiles) and move them around just like I need. Also I like the possibility of creating sub-pages. It allows me to avoid cluttering of the main page.
    Cons:
The tool really lack a web clipper and ability to make basic calculations with tables which makes me to switch between Google Sheets and then to copy&paste my calculations into xTiles.

Made my organizing work more pleasant

    5

xTiles solved my biggest pain point of having all my lists and materials for a workshop dispersed in various places. I really like the interface and how I can play around with elements on a document page which is also a little pleasure. I've been using xTiles for 4 months so far and now I'm doning this gradual shift from only-work tool to a personal-use tool as well.

    Pros:
I have to track many aspects when organizing workshops. So, what I like about xTiles is that I can break those aspects into tabs of a single document page which is dedicated to a particular workshop. Nothing is lost and everything relevant to an event is in a single place. This makes my planning process so much more pleasurable as there's no more rush when something is need to be found urgently.
    Cons:
Not much. The only thing is that I'd like to have specific templates for organizing events, workshops, in particular. Right now I use copies of my document pages for the previous events.

I use xTiles to write articles and books and find it simpler than brainstorming and content creation products like Miro and Roam. I spend less time managing the environment which gives me more time for ideation and production. The flexible board interface literally facilitates the thinking and organizing of ideas, research, and content. The architecture of tabs is uniquely useful to stay focused and connected to all my content as it evolves and unfolds.

Like any app there are features I'm looking forward to, hoping that the growth sustains the elegance of simplicity designed into this app.
