Jboss in comparison with Oracle's Weblogic

    4

I think for any organization, two things matter the most. 1) Resource consumption for the test/uat environments running in datacenter. 2) Licensing cost for maintenance and extensibility of the product. 3) Convenient deployment mechanism for administrator. JBoss provides a great experience in above mentioned areas.

    Pros:
We as a financial institution have Temenos T24 Core Banking System implemented that runs over Oracle's WebLogic Manage servers, as far as the production environment is concerned. However, recently we shifted all our testing environments to Jboss, cutting down massive licensing cost of WebLogic. JBoss is a dream if its pricing is compared with other competitor application servers in the international market. It is very light weight and does not consumer much resources in comparison.
    Cons:
The only baggage it comes with is the lack of support if required during implementation, apart from whatever material is available on the world wide web. However, the immense learning behind its in-house implementation is also a blessing in disguise.

Reasons for switching to JBoss EAP

To cut down licensing cost of the test/uat environments.

Our organization used Redhat Jboss 7 to host our Intranet. It was a quick and easy way for us to manage our internal news and content over a customizable portal. Publishing and managing content was easily managed and was delegated to various content publishers across the organizations.
    Cons:
It did not support any of the new HTML5 standards. It was a good product to disseminate static content across out organization for informational purposes.

    Pros:
JBoss delivers enterprise-grade security, performance, and scalability in any environment. Our Bank just shifted from Oracle Weblogic technology to JBoss. We have seen a lot ease of use in it, specially for developers it made life a lot easier for them. Similarly, customisation and java war files deployments are also made more easier with enhanced security and scalability.
    Cons:
No doubt it is a lot better than other alternate softwares from the market but still it lacks some features like a user friendly GUI. We hope we will get updates on it soon but still a handy software nonetheless.

Reasons for switching to JBoss EAP

More stability, bug free and secure.
